CIRCULATE AND THE ALBANY PRESENT AN AKADEMI PRODUCTION

Paradiso:

Man’s Enduring Search for Perfection Saturday 2 September, 2.30pm Deptford Market Yard

‘I have been to Paradise and this is what I saw...’ Inspired by the final part of Dante’s Divine Comedy, this 40-minute dance production shares common human struggles performed in an energetic celebration of dance. Journey through the heavenly cosmos and find answers to the obstacles of vanity, ambition and desire.

Chorus is produced by Simon Chatterton and commissioned by Newbury Corn Exchange, Brookes University and Oxford Contemporary Music.

CIRCULATE AND THE ALBANY PRESENT

Silencer

By Mem Morrison

Saturday 30 September, 2.30pm Fordham Park, New Cross, moving to Deptford Market Yard, Deptford* Silencer is a silent march ending with an installation in a public space. Part performance, part exhibition, created for and by local participants, witness your local shopping street transformed into a sea of placards as individuals march anonymously in support of their own causes and personal crusades.

Paradiso: Man’s Enduring Search for Perfection is brought to you by Akademi, one of the UK’s leading South Asian dance companies, and an internationally renowned creative team.

Levantes Dance Theatre creates visually striking and playful performance using contemporary dance, immersive street theatre, design and circus. FREE. All Ages. No booking required, just turn up.

Chorus is a monumental installation of giant kinetic sculptures, a celestial choir of spinning sound machines, created by award-winning artist and British Composer of the Year, Ray Lee. Towering above the audience, giant metal tripods with loudspeakers emit precisely tuned musical pitches, singing out a siren call to all those present.

FREE. All Ages. No booking required, just turn up.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Sinestesia follows the journey of survivors to a ‘safe-zone’. To make it, they must live and move like animals, creating a strangely beautiful new world order in which humans and nature become one. Each show will be kicked off by a short ‘curtain-raiser’ performance by young people from our Street Dance and Outdoor Arts course.

Visit Kathy’s Parlour, seemingly closed for the weekend but who knows what you’ll discover with a peek through the windows? Hang about for a ‘hair-do’ or relax in the waiting room and you might just meet one of our Kathys for a consultation experience like no other... THE ALBANY AND LEWISHAM HOMES PRESENT
