London’s Burning

On the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London, local storytellers White Rabbit and London Dreamtime team up to tell the tales and play the songs of all the fires in our city. Look into the flames and imagine the future of London, walk through the streets of SE8 and end up on a rooftop overlooking the city. Once you’ve booked, you’ll receive details of the secret location to meet us in. Wrap up warm. There will be sparklers.

The nearest stations to Mountsfield Park are Hither Green, Catford and Catford Bridge. The nearest bus stops are on South Circular Road, adjacent to the southern end of the park on 202 and 260 routes.

Saturday 9 July 2016, 12pm – 8pm, Mountsfield Park, Catford

In Île O Mathieu Levavasseur and William Valet overflow their bandstand-pool with live poetry, virtuoso multi-instrumental live music and clowning.

The modern city is a nest teeming with activity. Human life streams through it. BLOCK is about living in the city, its contradictions and its challenges. Living large, living fast and sometimes living in the cracks, this extraordinary cast stay on their toes to survive and thrive in the world of blocks.

Monday 1 - Friday 5 August, 10am - 3pm

The Albany at Lewisham People’s Day

What happens when dance and circus collide? When they converge, rub against each other, blend into one another? Twenty oversized blocks are deconstructed and reformed into an infinite variety of shapes for the performers to play on, move with and explore.

w oneek e

Île O is a musical circus show performed in a bandstand filled with water. One of the performers jumps straight in to the makeshift pool, the other fears water like the plague and comes up with ingenious ways to try and avoid it. Watch them try to stay afloat, dry and in tune with each other as they make their incongruous way through their comically soggy show.

Five, week-long creative arts courses for 8 to 19 year olds. £5 per course. Free for Lewisham Homes residents. Bursaries available on request.

Love2Dance Street Arts: Street Dance & Circus

Advance booking is essential.

Summer Arts at the Albany, Douglas Way, Deptford, London SE8 4AG
