An Open Letter

The Hamptons has been my home for over a decade. From owning my first home in East Hampton’s Northwest area to living seconds away from the bay in Sag Harbor. Every year, I watch as people from literally everywhere come to regale in the season that is known as summer in the Hamptons. White sand beaches, warm Atlantic water, and quality time spent with family and friends. It’s no wonder Fitzgerald wrote about this place so often and that Jackson Pollock called it home. For the third year in a row, I’m excited to share some of my favorite places with you via this Hamptons Summer Guide.

What has been most striking, from a Real Estate perspective, has been the maturation of Main Street in East Hampton as it’s turned itself into a veritable shopping mecca. Bernard Arnault’s purchase of the former Elie Tahari space at 1 Main Street has solidified the street as a legitimate commercial destination for highend retail. Maybe less surprising, though certainly as encouraging, has been the steady increase in value, year-over-year, not only in home values, but in short termrentals, as well. In the last two months our team has done $3M in rentals across the market, ranging from Ocean to Bay front. The Hamptons continues to show itself as a strong portfolio play. In this particular market, we’re seeing the effects of homeowners not being able to replicate their current situation due to high-interest rates causing a continued lack of inventory for buyers. My advice: stay patient. Sellers will eventually reduce prices as the market restabilizes itself and more inventory will come to market.

Few things in our culture beckon us for connection the way a shared meal does. It’s when we share big news, catch up with old friends, and get together as families. The following are some of my favorites on the East End where I’ve made memories summer after summer.

Your new favorite cheese shop. Try the Midnight Moon and Black Truffle. Excellent place for a takeaway sandwich and prepared foods.

Go-to place in town for essentials and stocking up the house for the summer. Great for when the house is full on a holiday weekend. 05.

RED HORSE MARKET

East Hampton

General grocer with delicious readymade meals. Great fresh salad bar for when you’re getting something on the fly. Try the homemade mozzarella.

Sag Harbor

Small family-owned marketplace serving the Hamptons since 1932. They have the best Porterhouse on the East End.

From Shinnecock Bay to Montauk Point, the Hamptons are home to North America’s most pristine beaches. Be it a chill day with family and friends at Cooper’s Beach or perhaps a more upbeat fête at Gurney’s, the white sand and warm Atlantic water are the perfect backdrop to a summer day or night.

Consistently voted one of the best beaches on the East Coast. Take a sunrise walk and see some stunning homes. A daily beach pass to park is required so arrive early.

02. LONG BEACH

Sag Harbor

Enjoy this pristine mile-long stretch of beach along the Bay. Ideal location for a beach picnic with friends and family. Grab a blanket and enjoy an idyllic sunset.

03. DITCH PLAINS

Montauk

Popular surf spot with great people-watching and some good food trucks. Be advised Route 27 gets very busy by midday so plan ahead.
