The Board of Directors at Emirates Health Services (EHS) held its third meeting of 2022 at the EHS headquarters in Dubai, headed by His Excellency Dr Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Chairman of the EHS Board of Directors, and attended by H.E. Dr Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director-General of EHS, and the members of the Board.

The meeting discussed several topics including EHS’ training policy and the services provided by the Training and Development Centre, which include clinical training and medical education. The Board also explored ways to increase support for the development of services that keep pace with the future of health insurance, before looking over EHS’ transformational projects and the new approach to government work. Members went on to discuss the decisions of the previous meeting, as well as the recommendations of the Policies and Strategies Committee meeting and the inclusive planning project.

“We take pride in the achievements brought by the Board’s decisions and recommendations, which aim to upgrade and develop the healthcare sector in the UAE,” said H.E. Dr Mohammad Salim Al Olama. “The next step will be to build on what has been achieved so far and to continue to develop and strengthen the work environment in a bid to cement the UAE health services sector’s leadership status at the local and global levels.” “This meeting is a continuation of the discussions we previously had on how to enhance the quality and efficiency of business, improve performance indicators, and continue to provide quality health services that assert EHS’ leadership in the sector, ultimately boosting the competitiveness of the UAE’s health sector in the region and around the world, and fulfilling the visions and directives of our wise leadership and its ambitions to implement the national strategy for the next 50 years, and drive sustainability in the national healthcare sector,” H.E. added.

For his part, H.E. Dr Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal asserted that: “The common purpose and collective efforts made by our teams at Emirates Health Services and all affiliated healthcare facilities have led to a series of remarkable achievements. This was largely driven by the efficient performance of employees and EHS’ commitment to empowering talented professionals, honing their skills, and enabling them to gain more experience.”

“The Board meeting discussed a series of decisions and recommendations, in line with our strategy at EHS, which aims to provide holistic and integrated healthcare in innovative and sustainable ways to protect the community from diseases, implement international standards in managing infrastructure at health facilities, and establish top-quality for treatment, medical, and health services,” H.E. Al-Serkal explained. “The strategy also strives to provide administrative services in accordance with standards of quality, efficiency, and transparency, in addition to promoting a culture of innovation in the work environment to build on existing achievements.”

The meeting was the third in a series of periodic Board meetings, held to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations and decisions made in previous sessions, as well as to assess their impact on promoting and developing the health services sector. Members aim to evaluate the impact that administrative decisions have on the efficiency of performance, in an effort to establish an ideal, supportive, and transparent work environment that champions innovation as a core part of the sector’s operations.
