SPIN INTO SPRING SKATING
From learning to skate all the way to senior levels, the Club's skating program has multiple pathways for you to glide your way onto the ice
We are looking forward to the spring term of skating. This term we are pleased to offer members even more opportunities to get on the ice!.
Learn to Skate
We have added several Learn to Skate sessions to the Winter 2023 program offerings, that are suitable for those who want to learn the fundamentals of ice skating. No previous skating experience is necessary. The program will follow Skate Canada’s CanSkate curriculum, which is a series of balance, control, and agility skills designed to prepare skaters for all ice sports.
Junior Achievers
For skaters interested in building on their skills from Learn to Skate, we have our Junior Achievers program. This program is figure skating specific, focusing on entry into Skate Canada’s Star Skate system. All classes will be a group instruction focusing on the five components of figure skating: stroking, field moves, jumps, spins, and musical interpretation. Junior Achievers is perfect for skaters who want to challenge themselves in their figure skating development or for those who are wanting to explore competitive figure skating.

Junior/Senior Figure Skating
The Junior/Senior figure skating program is for skaters advancing from Junior Achievers that are in the Skate Canada test and competitive system. This program incorporates a mix of group enrichment classes and private/semi-private lessons with instruction from coaches that have competitive figure skating coaching experience and are equipped to provide skaters with world-class instruction. The syllabus touches on the free skate, interpretive, dance, and skills components of Skate Canada programs. The training philosophy will adopt the long-term athlete development Learn to Train module. ♦
