Since celebrating their ten-year reunion last year, the class of 2003 has had a lot to celebrate - reaching new heights in careers, entering new phases in personal lives, and welcoming new members into families. Since getting married last April, Jacqueline Mention has been juggling a life split between Washington and Mexico. In Port Townsend, WA she works as a graphic designer, a volunteerwrangler for an art nonprofit named Centrum, and serves on the board of directors for the community radio station KPTZ. In Southern Baja, Mexico she and her husband Sasha, with the help of their two doggies Murray and Pochi, have opened a coffee roasting business and café called Caffé Encinalito. Molly Hartman earned her master’s degree in public policy from USC in 2012 and is now the director of the NYC Economic Development Corporation’s FRESH program— a citywide initiative to encourage the development of supermarkets in underserved neighborhoods. Meet Madeline Fraser ’09 What have you been doing since graduating from Archer? During my senior year at Archer, I was lucky enough to take a trip to India with my classmates. It was there that I met an incredible woman named Anjula Tyagi, who against all odds had started Green Field Elementary School in Kiratpur, India with her dowry money. A force to be reckoned with, I was drawn to her straightaway and we became fast friends. The first thing I noticed about this school was that they had no creative classes, no art, music, theater, etc. Something an Archer girl could easily take for granted because we had it all. As an artist, I couldn’t believe these kids could go through their education without ever having an art class. So, I decided to bring the art to them. When I graduated from Archer, I got on an airplane and moved half-way across the world to start an art program at this school. After a fulfilling year in India, I started college at George Washington University where I received the Presidential Scholarship in the Arts. After being in India for so long, starting school in Washington, DC wasn’t easy for me. However, when I found the Interior Architecture and Design Program, things started falling into place. It was in this program where I met my beautiful and talented business partners Beatrice Fischel-Bock and Lizzie Grover and where the idea for our company, ZOOM interiors, was born. While spending our junior year abroad in London, it was clear that we were all going to soon go out into the world and get jobs. The commonality between the three of us was that we didn’t like the jobs out there. We wanted to create something of our own. In our opinion, interior design, as an industry, was neither affordable nor easily accessible to everyone. We set out to change that reality by creating ZOOM interiors, an online-based interior design service where anyone can

come to our website to shop, get styled, and be inspired – all on a budget. What are your greatest accomplishments? Starting ZOOM interiors while still being at GW has been a great accomplishment for me. There have been times when I’ve felt overwhelmed, but I am proud that I have a strong work ethic and passion for what I do. My accomplishments in life have come from my ability to have immense passion for whatever I am working toward and to have the clarity to follow my vision. Five years ago, my vision was starting an art program in India. Now my vision is to grow ZOOM interiors to its full potential. Without passion and hard work, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Archer was instrumental in teaching me that and helping me get here. How has your Archer experience impacted your career? My years at Archer helped me grow into a confident, hard-working, and passionate person, all of which come in handy on my journey through growing my company. What is your fondest Archer memory? During my senior year I did an independent study in painting. I created a large body of work entitled “In Bloom.” The show was all about female empowerment. I showed mixed media paintings and sculptures and wrote three soundtracks on the piano to accompany the work. This was my first time showing a complete series of work and was a huge milestone for me. The opening night was a wonderful memory. What piece of advice would you like to give to current Archer girls? If you have passion for what you do, you won’t have to work a day in your life.
endless snowy winter is making her miss LA! Last year was all about family for Freddi Zeiler; last May she became an aunt to Henry, son of Hannah Zeiler Hodgden ’04 and over the summer she got engaged to her boyfriend of four years, Patrick Swanson. They plan to marry this June at her grandmother’s home in Beverly Hills. Gavin Frank is now working at ABC in marketing strategy and got engaged in December. Laura Korman is in her second year as director of TAG Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica and is already garnering accolades. She is also excited to become an aunt when sister Kate Korman ’01 gives birth in April. She now works as an associate sound designer at Thinkwell Group where she designs sound systems for theme parks and many other themed environments around the world. The past few years have been an amazing whirlwind for Jenna Berger; she lived in both London and New York and got to do some incredible travel for both work and play. She is currently an industry analyst on the automotive team at Google in NYC. While she may spend her workdays researching the role that the Internet plays for new car shoppers, her favorite mode of transportation is NYC’s new bike share program, CitiBike. She is engaged to an awesome guy named Patrick from Boston, and will be tying the knot this November in LA.
