You need a process and you need to be committed to innovation as an organization.
TALENT DEVELOPMENT & EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT Leverage Disruptive Talent Define your high potential talent by the ones who think differently than others in the organization. You want to hire those that disrupt organizations in a positive way because they will bring forward the trends of tomorrow. New talent in an organization needs to be able to grow and implement their ideas, but also work within the constraints of an organization. It is important to recognise disruptors and understand how to engage and involve them in the ideation process.
the workplace. This can be challenging because of the demand it puts on employers for higher forms of technology. Leaders need to be up to date with this technology and how it effects our teams and the barriers that it can eliminate. Have a Process & Strategy for Innovation The innovation process begins with a goal to create an advantage in the marketplace. Committing to new technology demands that we have a process for innovation. 90% of a CEO’s job can be replaced by technology. You may want to consider the following questions; What jobs can we
replace or supplement with technology? How will our customers interact with us? You need a process and you need to be committed to innovation as an organization. Leading a Culture of Innovation Making sure that your team can collaborate efficiently and work together is important. Capturing knowledge coming in and out of an organization as people come and go, as well as having learning orientations and knowledge management is critical. By teaching people to look at things from other peoples point of view, you can support the disruptors and form new partnerships.
Disruptors generally have more dominant and narcissistic qualities. They also tend to spot ideas and see what is coming next. Consider coaching these individuals on your culture and see how they can grow and add value. Innovation Is No Longer Optional People are the fuel driving innovation and are required for the success of your business. The consumerization of IT starts at home and then comes into

You can’t think your way into a new way of acting, but you can act your way into a new way of thinking.
TIME MANAGEMENT & EFFECTIVENESS Time is Power It is time for women to take control of their time and live their richest and fullest lives in work love and play. We tend to only make time for work and use the term ‘too busy’, which is robbing us of our ability to play. Neuroscience has given us permission to relax. Our brains are most active when we allow ourselves to play. When we take this time to ‘space out’ our brains work in a diffused and focused mode.
stress is good for us, but extreme stress is not. The fifth leading cause of death is stress and working long hours. Studies show that stress is shrinking our brains, however adding mindfulness to your routine, such as daily meditation practices expands the brain. Mediation changes the physical structure of the brain and creates more joy within a person. The new ideal worker is someone who has a basis of joy, this occurs when people feel supported and not burned out. You can’t think your way into a new
way of acting, but you can act your way into a new way of thinking. Ideal Mother—The Ideals Are Still There There is an unconscious bias on women who hold the maternal instinct in the family, however men will become the caregivers if they are the ones with the time. If women go back to work, the children will not be hurt. Dividing the work fairly and automating it in the household is where the challenges lie. Women will still spend 3-5 hours per week re-doing the chores that their spouses have done poorly.
Time Confetti We are living in contaminated time. On the outside it looks like leisure time but you are not present. Contaminated time takes you out of the moment where we end up in a tunnel and can only see the next few tasks. This leads to the feeling that you are not doing enough at work, home, etc. and this is how we thought it had to be in order to be a successful working woman. Work, Time and Stress Your job could be killing you. A little

A MODERATED CONVERSATION ON LEADERSHIP Keep an Open Mind and Trust Yourself Keep your mind open to new opportunities even if it is not what you had planned. You need to start from the bottom and move up. Women have natural qualities of leadership because they are good communicators, empathetic and can read a room. These roles were seen as more supportive roles; however, leadership is about asking the right questions. These are the most vital skills. Women have proven that they are better as leaders then men because they can synthesize data.
always keep an open mind and surround yourself with people that believe in your success as much as you do. Mentorship is Critical There is a difference between coaching, sponsoring and mentoring. Coaching is helping people along in the process, sponsorship is someone who you want to be linked to, and mentorship is someone wanting you to succeed. You never know where your opportunities are going to come from so always keep an open mind and surround yourself with people that believe in your success as much as you do. Lead from Where You Are Ask yourself what you can achieve in the role you are in now. You can have a
very successful and fulfilling life right where you are, right now. You have to be humble and hardworking and feel grateful for where you are. Technology is changing the way we run our businesses and the businesses that are succeeding are those that empower their people. How you are leading those people is very important. You have to believe that there is enough room for everyone and you should want more women leaders because then there are more people like you on the same path who can help one another.
Keep Moving Forward There will always be people who believe in you, and that is why you are here. You have to understand and accept that you are where you are supposed to be. Even with a seed of self doubt, keep making decisions and keep moving forward. Build a community and trust with people through building relationships, and people will come back and support you.

EXECUTIVE PANEL
JAMIE MCINTYRE District Vice President, BC Northern Interior & Yukon Leadership is about making a difference using your actions to create change and not accepting the status quo. Continue to grow, embrace and champion change with diverse thinking. Diverse thinking is important and a very positive contribution to society. Look at our own biases and what is limiting us. Mentorship has many benefits to create diversity and create a relationship to support more women.
LEANNE JOHNSON Director, People & Culture Women have a different set of challenges; therefore, we need to have a different conversation. This conversation involves both men and women and the opportunity to challenge assumptions and biases, and learn from each other to advance women’s opportunities.
HEIDI WORTHINGTON Sr. Vice-President & Chief Product Officer Women lead in a different way. They are able to collaborate and achieve goals that are put before them with an open mind. A common problem is that men will go for a promotion if they think they can get it, where women will only go for a promotion if know they are qualified. Women should always go for it, step up and build their confidence in the workplace. Be proud in your leadership and never lose your passion.

SUCCESS & HAPPINESS Believe in Yourself Only you can define your success and believe in yourself beyond reason. Nothing that looks like an overnight success is, it takes years and there is a struggle to get there. It is far more rewarding to prove yourself right than prove others wrong. You can’t occupy your thoughts about other people or it will drag you down and distract you from pursuing your passion. Every woman should have the means to style their lives the way they want. Everyone is eager for your success. You are your own source of strength and perseverance.
You are programmed to worry but you need to learn to see the opportunities and think about what it could be and not what it is. what it could be and not what it is. Come from a Place of Gratitude If you do your best everyday with gratitude, you will discover your passion. Keep your heart and eyes open and work your ass off. We feed off of each others energy and people will feed off your positivity. Cultivate your own positivity and do your best to give opportunities to others.
Every Obstacle is a Gift People who have success don’t tend to get frustrated over problems. Instead they move into solutions mode – how long does it take you to get to a solution? You have to learn to see the opportunity and not just the obstacle. Once you find something that you are passionate about, your passion can elevate you over any obstacle.
Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway See problems as part of the reason why you are adding value and find the positivity and opportunity in every obstacle. You can be self aware without being self critical. Move into solution mode as fast as possible. You are programmed to worry but you need to learn to see the opportunities and think about

Surround yourself with good people, and stop taking yourself so seriously.
LEADERSHIP Barriers We have discovered that at a very early age, children enjoyed playing together in a richly diverse group. By getting outside of our comfort zones, we are able to grow. Cultures matter and we need more mentors and advocates to show this. A diverse group of leaders represents a diverse group of people. We have to discover what the barriers have been and work towards a world in which everyone is competing on a level playing field.
not whether can have it all, but to move in the direction of being a whole person. Progress feels slow and our job is to push
it forward. Fight for what you want and be determined. Look at life as a marathon and not a sprint.
Women in Leadership If more women are in leadership positions, the world would be a better place, but for us to do this we have to be flexible and start asking for what we want. Look at what your strength and weaknesses are. Surround yourself with good people, and stop taking yourself so seriously. Develop an agenda of your own and make that agenda your priority. Get Out of Your Own Way Don’t be your own worst enemy. It’s

CLOSING REMARKS Thinking differently is a skill we need in the world. The status quo no longer works. Leverage disruptive talent. Innovation is no longer optional. When was the last time, you REALLY played? Do you have power over your own time? Time for work, love and play? Neuroscience proves ideas and insights happen when you play. There’s a reason your best ideas happen when you’re in the shower. Uncontaminated your time! There’s no such thing as a five year plan. Leadership today is NOT about being able to answer the questions. It’s about asking the right questions. Be yourself. Believe in yourself. You are where you are supposed to be and people believe you should be there. Take responsibility for your own growth, don’t leave it up to others. Dream bigger, live happier, and achieve success on your own terms. Helping others succeed is how you become successful in life. Believe in yourself beyond reason! Because success happens IN adversity! Rolemodels are imoortant: You cannot be what you cannot see. Remember, to serve the marketplace your team must reflect the marketplace. Listen to the quiet voice inside you more than the loud voices around you.
