…to our advertisers who make this local mag you’re about to enjoy both possible and free. As you’ll notice, we’ve worked hard over the years to curate our sponsorships with businesses we know you’ll enjoy. What Our Clients Are Saying
Crystal and Bella are the best agents in West Palm Beach hands down! It was such a hard market to find a house but they were extremely persistent and never gave up on my search. They were so kind/helpful and gave me such insight into the market and consistently sent me properties. Once we found my dream home they walked me through the whole process... The inspection, appraisal, lending process, insuring the home, all things repair, lawn maintenance etc... I STRONGLY recommend using Crystal and Bella. They are so transparent and it is priceless to have someone who knows the market that can negotiate with the selling agents on your behalf and feel confident they are doing right by you.

SWEATY RECS FROM THE DESK IN THE CORNER OFFICE
BY DARIEN DAVIES
Community helps keep us on track, whether that be one jogging partner or a few friends who regularly meet for the 7 a.m. class. Or, maybe it’s the gym owner who is just literally fired up about reps, about your goals, and about your health and wellness. If you’re focusing on sweating and shredding this year, we’ve done the heavy lifting for you (pun intended) and want to share two local gyms whose owners are waiting to pump you up on fitness.
Requirements for inclusion in this feature included passing the arbitrary vibe check by our Publisher, Dustin, and being named Rob. Just kidding. But really, we decided to highlight these two local gyms because we believe they’re going above and beyond for their clients and deserve to have their accomplishments celebrated.
PIT FITNESS
If you’re currently at a gym but aren’t happy about your experience and/or results, or you are trying to find a place that speaks to you and your goals, PIT (Progressive Interval Training) Fitness has you covered. Actually, it’s not a gym or a place, it’s a community of fitness professionals who are dedicated to helping you reach your gain goals.
According to Rob Rosinsky, PIT Fitness founder, “PIT Fitness is a High-Intensity Interval Strength Training facility with programs geared towards burning fat and building muscle in a motivating atmosphere and community. But the easiest way to describe PIT Fitness is you are getting a personal trainer at the affordability of group pricing. The classes are designed for all fitness levels and are programmed to help you train at your highest potential.”
PIT is a labor of love by Rob, built on lessons he collected in his own fitness journey. “I spent a lot of my early years in the fitness industry helping others open gyms, some national franchises, and some private ones, but I always felt like I could offer members something a little different. The early days were rough, but I look back now and can appreciate them so much more,” Rob said.
So, if you’re looking for a gym where you can hide away on a treadmill or check your phone while stretching, this isn’t going to be it. PIT is the place where you go when you want to better your body as well as your outlook on fitness.
“We preach consistency to keep our members motivated. One of our slogans is ConsistentAF because, without consistency and discipline, it doesn’t matter how motivated you are. No one is motivated every single day but showing up on the days you aren’t motivated are the ones that count the most,” said Rob. “We established a Consistency Club that rewards members for attending at least four classes per week each month. We also like to use weekly and monthly challenges to ignite a little friendly competition. Competition always seems to keep people motivated.” >>
Rob said that through their tailored efforts, they are able to help clients see results in weeks and not months or years. Additionally, they scale their workouts for all fitness levels so there’s no limit to whom they can help.
“The most unique thing about PIT Fitness is how not unique we are. We really stick to the basics and want to make sure every single member is getting the best workout possible in that 1-hour period,” said Rob, who is happy to help clients comfortably leave their comfort workout zone. “We aren’t flashy or trying to change the wheel, but our main priority is to make sure each member leaves knowing they just had an amazing workout.”
Rob is certain that his coaches are the key to their clients’ success, as well as to PIT’s growth location-wise. He believes that the major-
ity of coaching a group class is personality, so he focuses on finding coaches who can truly connect with their community.
“The most rewarding aspect is knowing that I have created a platform that is helping people change their body, lifestyle, mental health, and physical health,” Rob said. “I always wanted to create a space where anyone could come, have an amazing workout, and get the best results of their life. Knowing we are helping people in so many different ways on a daily basis is what really keeps me going.”

CROSSFIT HYPE
Fueled by a passion to physically progress himself and his community, Rob Thomas has created and kept CrossFit HYPE alive and pumping since 2013. After he experienced mistreatment from a local CrossFit gym on multiple occasions in East Boca, and knowing that others were getting the same level of service, he decided to “bury them” and make it better. And by “it,” he means the environment, experience, community, and result.
“It was an absolute grind living up to my word, but I love it. Doing things the right way. Fitness first, over everything,” Rob said. “Not pushing supplements, knick-knacks, or some BS training program… real fitness. Making decisions that benefit the community first to enable us to grow. It didn’t always make us money at first, but it allowed us to become who we are now.”
In fact, he’s so dedicated to his HYPE community that he took home $0 in income for six years. On top of that, he learned how to build a website, make a logo, fix and build everything himself, design/print/sell his own merchandise, make his own videos, create his fitness programs, coach classes, and manage internal business logistics.
That’s dedication at its finest, folks. But, for Rob, that’s just him. He’s never had a drink in his life because, he says, “I know it doesn’t help me achieve my tomorrow, so I don’t do it today.” This outlook helped him align with Temperance Training, which kind of just happened, but turned out to be something that was always meant to be a perfect marriage.
“Seven years ago, out of nowhere, I was introduced to this exact same mentality, from people of an exact opposite walk of life… people who shared the same exact mindset as me, just toward their sobriety, and I saw the life it was now giving them,” Rob said. “Fitness mixed with a temperate lifestyle, and an incredibly supportive community, is special… that is exactly what temperance training is. I have met some of my best friends from our temperance programs, and seen some of the most incredible transformations happen. For this reason I am invested in finding more people just like me, and just like us so that is why Temperance exists.”

After four location changes, he is now in his more permanent home (the location of the aforementioned gym where this all started!) and is hopeful for the future. He believes he’s in the right location to continue to grow and help his CrossFit community thrive.
“I get to help people change their lives. I get to help people feel better about themselves, and improve themselves, every single day. I get to work on my own athletic progress, and sense of self, every single day. I get to hang out, work, and workout with my friends every day. I get to learn something from trial and error, and teach people about my findings,” Rob said. “I can lead the way in the right direction for where people should go if they want to get fit and grow their abilities to do difficult things. I get to challenge myself, and those around me, every single day. After many years I am able to provide for my family and friends in a way I never thought possible.”
He also knows that while CrossFit might be intimidating, there’s no reason to let it be. Just go in, ask for help, and try it. The communi-
“Our main goal from the beginning was to constantly be in pursuit of creating the fittest community on Earth. Not the fittest one individual, but the fittest group of people. Just an incredible wealth of resources and abilities all in one place. That long-term goal is never ending, as we have achieved the fittest gym in Florida a few years in a row, and plan to continue to keep that title,” Rob said. “But by pursuing that goal, it gives us so many more opportunities to impact more people, I will just stay on that path. We keep focusing on helping others achieve those goals with our proven methods, more good will come to us. Working to create a facility that facilitates people who want to be the fittest version of themselves… and that’s it. That is what we do. Create fitness.”

CELIS RUN CLUB
The Miles That Bind
BY AVA BOURBEAU
Run clubs have been on the up and up over the past few years. What started as informal gatherings of a few passionate runners has metamorphosed into structured, inclusive communities that draw hundreds of participants across cities nationwide. Of course, some run clubs have a reputation for being glorified dating app replacements. We like to believe that most of them focus more on scoring Strava kudos than scoring… well, you know.
Take Celis Run Club. You may remember us writing about them two years ago in our inaugural Active Issue, and, while it may at first seem redundant, we decided to run it back
Based in West Palm Beach, Alex Celis, founder and co-owner of Celis Juice Bar, started a run club in 2020 as a way for a couple of friends and regulars to meet up and rack some miles. Two years ago, the group had an average attendance of 30 or so runners. Now, close to 300 runners show up every week.
“I think people are looking for unique social gatherings. Run clubs are great because you’re gathering with like-minded individuals who care about health and wellness,” Alex said.
Whether you’re a negative-split-chaser, a run-walker, or just looking for a third place that isn’t a drain on your bank account, Celis Run Club has a spot for you. Plus, reaching your running goals, breaking a sweat, or just having an excuse to get outside is infinitely easier when surrounded by people chasing similar aims.
“Run Club has made me more accountable. I owe it to myself and my community to show up every week and run and set new goals and achieve those goals,” Alex said. Through this community and encouragement, Alex ran his first half marathon in 2023 and the New York City Marathon in 2024. It’s safe to assume there will be more finisher medals in 2025.
Celis Run Club has so much clout that they’ve been able to collab with other big names, local businesses, and national brands.
“ >>>
Run Club has made me more accountable. I owe it to myself and my community to show up every week and run and set new goals and achieve those goals.”
“We’ve been really blessed, we worked with Sofi Tukker, they did a release party for their new album called BREAD, the vibe and energy was amazing and we brought something new and different to our community. Runners still talk about that night to this day. We’ve worked with brands like Vuori, Vacation Sunscreen, Raw Nutrition, CityPickle, lululemon, and local non-profits, gyms and businesses,” Alex said.

The Celis success is not only showing up at Run Club, they’re also expanding with Celis Juice Bar locations. At the end of last year, they opened a new spot in Delray Beach — just blocks from the Atlantic Current office, no less.
They’ve been gradually sprinkling in a few runs in Delray Beach, and we can only hope that trend continues — for our sake. If you’re interested in lacing up with the Club, check out their Instagram where they post the schedule for the month with times, distances and locations.

The Phoenix Boxing Gym
Gains Inside and Outside the Ring
BY CAROLINE NORDHEIM
It was a typical Florida summer day. The air held heat and dust from swept-up dirt and torndown drywall just blocks away from Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. A new building owner, Michael Hockton, had made the purchase with a dream of opening his own boxing gym. That day, he took a break from renovating the place and went out to buy supplies. When he returned, he was greeted by eager students.
“I remember going to Home Depot, and when I came back, my dad had six kids here from nowhere, and we hadn’t even put wet paint on the building walls,” Michael said. “We had some gloves lying around but didn’t have a ring or anything.”
Michael’s boxing journey began long before that moment. About 20 years ago, he moved from England, where he had coached boxing. When he came to South Florida, he continued coaching at other gyms until six years ago, when he opened The Phoenix Boxing Gym.
“I’ve trained many people over the years,” Michael said. “I train the Olympians, world champions, and European champions, predominantly in the UK. Now, here in Florida, I’ve seen incredible talent. One of the boys I told you about is a Florida State Champion with no previous boxing experience. He just won another fight, and I am very proud of him.”
When Michael bought the building on Northwest Fifth Avenue, he took the time to meet people in the area and he was able to spread his message to the community.
“When I first came here, I went to every church around the area,” Michael recalled. “And now a man who is a Baptist minister is my coach here with me because he loves boxing. I call him ‘holy hands.’”
Michael recognized early on that it was the people who made Phoenix Boxing special, and he saw the gym’s impact firsthand, not just in the lives of the kids who come to box, but also in the neighborhood.
“The police told us crime has gone down since we opened, and the kids have come because they’ve got somewhere to go,” Michael said. “I have them cleaning up the streets, too, so you’ll see them walking up and down the street picking up liquor bottles and bits and pieces like that. But I wouldn’t tell them to do anything I wouldn’t do either.”
This support inspired Michael to launch his nonprofit, We Box For Life. The nonprofit empowers underprivileged individuals and communities through boxing, fostering resilience, life skills, and unity.
“I see its impact because you get results out of [the kids]. Many of these children, even the late teens and early 20s, are so used to them saying ‘thank you’ and ‘please’ be regarded as a sign of weakness,” Michael said. “We have kids with anger issues coming here, and that often dissipates over time when they learn how to respect other people and themselves. It’s important to teach.”
One way that Phoenix Boxing is able to support its community efforts is through its membership fees. These fees help cover operational costs like utilities and taxes, ensuring the gym stays afloat. More importantly, it provides access for underprivileged individuals, making the gym a vital resource for those who need it most.
If you are interested in boxing or personal training, give them a call.
While most 4-year-olds are trying to balance on one foot, Ethan Campos decided that he was going to grab a skateboard and see what happens. Well, what happened was a 5-year “career,” kickflipping his way into viral videos, sponsorships, and living his best board life. Oh, and focusing on making it to the Olympics. You know, just your average preschooler (not).
“He was watching Woodward videos, and Zion Effs, Roman Hagar, Lazer Crawford, and Gavin Bottger were a big influence on him. He asked for a skateboard and during COVID we built him a little ramp. He picked it up quickly and the rest is history,” said Andres Campos, Ethan’s dad, on how Ethan caught the skating fever.
Now 9 years old, Ethan is taking the skating world by storm. Not only does he have more than 35,000 followers on Instagram, but he also had one of his skating videos go viral: the Hollywood High 12.
“His dad handles his Instagram, and at first it was just for fun,” his mom Tammy said. “He started accomplishing harder and harder things, and when he did the boardslide on Hollywood 12-stair in California at 7 years old, his video went viral. From then on, he just kept getting more followers daily. People reach out to us from all over the world all the time.”
If you’re not familiar, the Hollywood High 12 and 16 refers to skateboarding on two sets of stairs located at Hollywood High School in L.A. It’s considered an iconic skate spot for pros and amateurs alike, >>
and it’s a must-do for professional skateboarders to perform tricks on the long stair set.
It’s almost like a rite of passage for a serious skateboarder — and a rising star. It might have taken Ethan a few attempts, but he landed it and the skating world noticed. By world, we mean more than 10 million views.
“Most adults wouldn’t even try Hollywood 12 or Hollywood 16,” said Tammy. Ethan was one of the youngest skaters to not only attempt but to land both.
He also has a laundry list of sponsors that help him up his game. SOCCO Socks keeps Ethan’s feet happy, and also helped fund and coordinate the Hollywood High 16 video. Ethan is also an ambassador for Revbalance, a balance board company, and provides them with content for IG. Local skate and surf shop, Island Water Sports, is proud to support Ethan, too. And, Tony Hawk’s company, Birdhouse Skateboards, made him a few custom-sized boards, so, yeah, he’s kind of a big deal. The sponsor list goes on and on, too; Tortoise Pads, Remind Insoles, Ultra Slappy Wax, and Televisi Star catalog clothing.
Big deal or not, the kid just loves to skate. He says his favorite part about the sport is “going to a bunch of different skateparks and skate spots and skating with my friends.”
You’ll find him spending anywhere from three to four hours a day, five or six days a week on his board. Clocking in all that time allows him to perfect his tricks, which include boardslides on all size rails, as well as other types of tricks on rails including front boards, front lips, and 50/50s, and let’s not forget flip tricks, like kickflips, heel flips, backside flips and varials. Yes, it’s dizzying just to read it, much less actually do it.
While he might be young, his goals are already laid out. He plans to get a shoe sponsor, go to the Olympics, and become a pro skater.
So, mark your calendars for the 2028 Olympics because we’re rooting for him to make it. We already picture ourselves screaming “We know him! We know him!” at our TV.

Activity Watch Round-Up
When it comes to staying active, your gear matters — and that includes the watch on your wrist. Because was it really a workout if you didn’t track it? Fitness wearables are more than just gadgets; they’re tools to help you track progress, improve recovery, and make smarter decisions for your health. We’ve tested some of the most popular options on the market, including the Garmin Venu 3, Garmin Forerunner 165, and the Whoop 4.0, to give you the lowdown on what each has to offer. Whether you’re into fitness competitions or simply looking to level up your daily activity, there’s something here for everyone.
Garmin Venu 3
If you’re transitioning from an Apple Watch but want a fitness-focused wearable, the Garmin Venu 3 is a stylish and seamless choice. Built with fitness, recovery, and sleep in mind, it’s packed with features that go beyond step counts. The Sleep Coach recommends how many hours of rest you need based on your activity, while the Recovery Tab tells you whether to push yourself or take it easy. Other standout features include the Sleep Score, Body Battery (to track energy levels), and the delightfully motivating “Fitness Age” metric, which decreases as your fitness level improves. Bonus points: it’s incredibly lightweight, making for easy all-day wear.
PHOTOS COURTESY OF GARMIN
Whoop 4.0
Garmin Forerunner 165
For those new to fitness wearables, the Garmin Forerunner 165 is an affordable and reliable entry-level option. While it’s a little less sleek and more functional in appearance than the Venu 3, it delivers everything you’d expect from a high-quality fitness tracker without the need for a subscription. Like the Venu 3, it’s lightweight — a bonus if you’re used to the heft of an Apple Watch. For fitness enthusiasts on a budget, this watch checks all the boxes, though we’d recommend it specifically for runners.
Whoop 4.0 offers a unique take on fitness tracking, focusing on advanced analytics for sleep, recovery, and overall fitness. Its lightweight design makes it easy to wear opposite another watch, so you can keep your stylish timepiece while monitoring your health. The lack of a display is something to consider before deciding on it. Unlike the Garmin Venu 3, which lets you monitor metrics like heart rate in real-time during workouts, Whoop relies entirely on post-workout analysis (unless you’re staring at the Whoop app on your phone mid exercise). If your focus is purely on analytics and you don’t mind the subscription (HSA/FSA eligible, by the way), it’s a solid choice. For anyone aiming to train smarter during high-intensity workouts or competitions, the ability to see metrics mid-session could be a game-changer. But, for those looking for a distraction-free/screen-free sesh, the Whoop could be the solution you’ve been searching for.
The Takeaway
Garmin’s Venu 3 and Forerunner 165 deliver a more immediate, hands-on experience for fitness tracking, while Whoop excels in post-workout, sleep, and stress analytics for a deeper dive into recovery and performance. Your choice comes down to how you train, your goals, and whether you’re willing to trade real-time monitoring for next-level data.

21 Questions WITH TRAINERS
You know the drill: it’s 21 Questions, this time with personal trainers, coaches, teachers, owners, etc. We’re using the moniker trainer to categorize them, but really, they’re so much more. Therapist, motivational speaker, soundboard, probably holds the record for the slowest counter ever — 10 seconds has never felt so long — you get it. We asked, they answered.
Ryan Burgess Trainer at MADabolic Jupiter
1. What is your training philosophy or approach? Consistency and focusing on the journey. It’s a lifestyle!
2. Do you have specialties or areas of focus? Functional strength training.
3. When did your fitness journey begin? I have been an athlete most of my life. But my journey took off when I got involved with the Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis in 2018. Turning my passion into a career on the water and in the gym at MADabolic Jupiter.
4. What are your current go-to physical activities? When I’m not in the gym, you can find me on the ocean paddle boarding, or on hikes and bike rides with the family.

9. Do you have a favorite class to teach? Definitely Anaerobic! We focus on power and speed with heavy lifting. You can feel the energy in the room.

Brian Pease Trainer at PIT Fitness
1. What is your training philosophy or approach?
My training philosophy combines progressive overload with strength and conditioning. As a former collegiate athlete and current Senior Ice Hockey player, combining strength training with conditioning is vital for athletic performance.
2. Do you have specialties or areas of focus?
I focus mainly on foundational functional movement patterns that apply directly to the sports I’ve played and helping my clients feel and look better. I am also certified in RFT, or Raw Functional Training, which one of my mentors created to train first responders and Chris Hemsworth.
3. When did your fitness journey begin?
I’ve always had a passion for health and fitness, but it really became my life in 2011. I failed out of Saint Joseph’s University in Philly and was lost in life. My first mentor, Karl Safran, put me on the path to become a coach, and I graduated top of my class and regained my love for academics, and my journey has brought me from Philly to South Florida.
4. What are your current go-to physical activities?
I play hockey in Boca in the Gold League as my avenue for athletics, and outside of that, I am usually in the gym training six days a week!
5. How do you motivate and encourage people during their workouts?
I make sure the people I train can see the results firsthand. I tell them to not worry about the numbers on the scale and worry about the inches dropped from their waistline and the number they put up in the big chain movements like squats and deadlifts. I let them know that they can easily hit their goals if they keep working hard.
6. Do you have any tricks for motivating yourself?
I used to motivate myself by wanting to be the best at whatever I do. Now, my prime motivation is wanting to set a good example for my son and show him what hard work and determination can do.
7. Have you ever considered experimenting with a side gig as a motivational speaker?
I think being a motivational speaker would be fun! I always loved helping people realize their potential, and if something I say can have a lasting positive effect, then that’s a damn good day!
8. What’s the best part of your job?
The best part about my job is the amazing people I have met along the way. From co-workers to members to clients, I have so much love and admiration for the people who make this the best job I ever had!
9. Do you have a favorite class to teach?
I LOVE when we do an Athletic Performance class! That is my bread and butter, and it’s so much fun to coach! Also, leg days are a fan-favorite class to teach!
10. Do you have a favorite class to take?
My favorite class to take right now at PIT is Upper Pull! I’ve been obsessed with building a strong wide back and having that V-taper from shoulders to hips!
11. What’s your unpopular gym etiquette opinion?
I absolutely HATE when people sauna in zero clothes. Especially at a place like L.A. where the sauna is a selling point, put some pants on.
12. Have you ever considered getting a whistle? We use whistles at PIT, so I already own several!
13. What’s your advice to someone hesitant to start attending classes?
TAKE THE LEAP! I know a group fitness class can be intimidating, almost like being a new character on a TV show with several seasons already in, but if you take the leap, you’ll never regret it!
14. How do you feel about all the New Year’s Resolution sign-ups?
I love anyone who wants to take control of their health and life regardless of the time of year! Obviously, New Year’s resolutions are massive, so if you’re looking for a change, call me, and I’ll take care of you!
15. What are your must-haves for successful workout recovery?
COLD PLUNGE is a must! I swear by my cold plunge, and it has been a MASSIVE recovery tool I try to use daily! Only issue is buying 40 pounds of ice every time to get it to the temperature I like!
16. How do you spend a rest day?
My rest days are usually active recovery days, so often I’ll walk/jog on the beach, or I’ll do a little technical work on the ice and work on stickhandling and shooting with a light skate, and if the ocean is nice, I’ll surf a bit!
17. If you could only choose five exercises what would they be? In no order, I would pick pull-ups, squats, power cleans, deadlifts, and pushups!
18. What exercises do you avoid like the plague?
I love every exercise and definitely don’t avoid Bulgarian split squats!
19. What makes you most proud about your fitness journey? In my fitness journey, I’m proud that I can still compete at a high level of athletics at the age of 32 and outwork the college kids. Professionally, the impact I’ve been able to have on people’s lives has been my favorite part!
20. What fitness goals are on the horizon?
I hit the maxes I wanted in all of my big lifts, so now I’m focused on staying lean and explosive so I can continue to excel in athletics!

Sarah McCaffery and Natalie Taylor Co-Founders of The LAB: Fitness &
Social Club
1. What is your training philosophy or approach?
Natalie: Our training philosophy revolves around building strength— not just physical strength but mental resilience, too. At The LAB, we focus on combining the benefits of personal training with the energy of a group setting, fostering connection, accountability, and results.
Sarah: We believe fitness is about creating a sustainable lifestyle. It’s not about quick fixes. It’s about finding what works for each person and building a supportive community to help them thrive. Creating an environment where people can grow, share and connect is a huge part of that lifestyle. That’s why The LAB was created.
2. Do you have specialties or areas of focus?
Sarah: Functional strength and conditioning, specializing in barbell and kettlebell movements. At The LAB, we specialize in creating scalable workouts that cater to all fitness levels, helping everyone feel challenged yet capable.
Natalie: We also focus on the group dynamic, which transforms workouts into a shared experience. We’re big believers in the power of community.
3. When did your fitness journey begin?
Natalie: My journey began as a teenager. I was an athlete who loved the discipline and empowerment of training.
Sarah: I have been a mover, groover, shaker my entire life. After growing up as a competitive dancer traveling the world as a professional singer, dancer and actor, I discovered my love for teaching others to be the best version of themselves through movement. I have spent the last 15 years teaching others to move and feel better through strength training.
4. What are your current go-to physical activities?
Natalie: I love functional strength training—movements that improve not just gym performance but everyday life.
Sarah: Same here, but I also like to mix in conditioning, whether it is a run or a partner-style workout.

5. How do you motivate and encourage people during their workouts?
Natalie: We lead by example, and we’re intentional about connecting with each person in our classes. A well-timed high five or personalized cue goes a long way.
Sarah: Music is also huge for setting the tone, and we always keep the energy positive and uplifting.
6. Do you have any tricks for motivating yourself?
Sarah: I remind myself of how great I feel after a workout. Natalie: I tap into our community. It’s hard not to feel motivated when you’re surrounded by people cheering on each other.
7. Have you ever considered experimenting with a side gig as motivational speakers?
Sarah: In a way, we already do that as fitness professionals. Natalie: Exactly. Every class feels like a mix of coaching and inspiring.
8. What’s the best part of your job?
Sarah: Helping others tap into their greatest potential and seeing them achieve goals they never thought possible...
Natalie: Seeing members support one another. The friendships built at The LAB are incredible.
9. Do you have a favorite class to teach?
Natalie: Strength classes—they’re transformative.
Sarah: LAB Strength and our monthly community events. They are always fun and social, which is a big part of The LAB, being able to bring everyone together and partner with other local Delray businesses.
10. Do you have a favorite class to take?
Sarah: Strength and mobility classes. I also love partner-style workouts, so Saturday’s LAB Method is a favorite of mine as well. Natalie: I love a good circuit-based workout with a fun group vibe.
11. What’s your unpopular gym etiquette opinion?
Natalie: Wiping down equipment isn’t optional—it’s a must!
Sarah: Agreed. Also, there’s nothing wrong with saying hello to the people around you—it’s a community!
12. Have you ever considered getting a whistle?
Sarah: Not yet, but maybe for themed classes!
Natalie: We don’t need whistles; we have great voices for coaching.
13. What’s your advice to someone hesitant to start attending classes?
Natalie: Just start. The first step is the hardest, but once you feel the energy of the group, you’ll never look back.
Sarah: Lean into the process and focus on the consistency. Through consistency and patience, progress will come. We’re here to support you at every step.
14. How do you feel about all the New Year’s Resolution sign-ups?
Sarah: It depends on the approach and intention. Any reason to start is a good one, and our goal is to help those resolutions turn into habits.
15. What are your must-haves for successful workout recovery?
Natalie: A good stretch session and hydration are key.
Sarah: I also recommend getting enough sleep and fueling your body with nutritious foods.
16. How do you spend a rest day?
Sarah: Long walks with my dog, walks on the beach, or a bike ride through Delray.
Natalie: Catching up on reading or relaxing with family and friends.
17. If you could only choose five exercises, what would they be?
Natalie: Deadlifts, squats, pull-ups, push-ups, and kettlebell swings.
Sarah: Same! They’re foundational and effective.
18. What exercises do you avoid like the plague?
Sarah: Anything that sacrifices form for the sake of intensity.
Natalie: Exercises that don’t align with proper biomechanics—injury prevention is key.
19. What makes you most proud about your fitness journey?
Natalie: Starting The LAB. It’s a culmination of our passion and hard work.
Sarah: Seeing our vision come to life and witnessing the impact it has on our members and community.
20. What fitness goals are on the horizon?
Sarah: Expanding The LAB’s presence in the Delray Beach community.
Natalie: Continuing to innovate and create an inspiring environment for fitness and connection.

1. What is your training philosophy or approach?
Simply put: How can we move more often and move better?! I program for clients (and myself) to build immense strength, gain stability, optimize mobility, and expand their mind to other ways of working on their cardiovascular health.
2. Do you have specialties or areas of focus?
I have a very well-rounded background. However, my continued education and experiences have evolved into growing a specialty niche. I now specialize in mobility, stability, pain-free functional mechanics and yoga for the non-yogi. I work with anyone ranging from pro athletes to the general population.
3. When did your fitness journey begin?
I was always active as a kid, playing multiple sports and danced competitively my whole life. At 16, I partially tore one of my hamstrings at dance and found myself going to physical therapy three days a week. I fell in love with rehabbing, getting stronger, anatomy, and the fitness world. Two weeks after high school, I got my first dance gig and went on to dance professionally all over the world for 12 years. I overlapped my fitness career and advanced in it simultaneously while living in New York, auditioning to perform. I have worked in the fitness industry for 20 years, trained clients for 16 years, and have taught yoga for five years.
4. What are your current go-to physical activities?
Strength training, long walks outside, yoga, stair climbs, dance and pilates.
5. How do you motivate and encourage people during their workouts?
I honestly bring great energy to sessions, that’s a big part of what I do. I also educate them. I speak to them about the WHY. I bring up topics about longevity, being pain-free, achieving new goals, and increasing their quality of life. I hand them weights and exercises that challenge them, which in turn allows them to see their innate capability. I encourage them simply by acknowledging the changes they have already implemented and the growth I’ve seen and emphasize them to reflect on how different they feel. It’s all about the energy you give!
6. Do you have any tricks for motivating yourself?
First things first, get the playlist going in my ears! Then plan out in my head or on paper my own program and then follow through it all for myself. A lot of days, it’s about bumping the tunes and igniting that inner will. There are a lot of days when music and commitment to my mental health have been the reason why I start moving my body. You’re not always motivated, but that playlist can kick-start your engine!
7. Have you ever considered experimenting with a side gig as a motivational speaker?
I have certainly considered taking on public speaking roles and educating audiences on everything I’ve observed and learned in my career. I could see myself speaking about all of the years of experience, the stories I have, the lives that have been changed, and more specifically, how the physical and mental parts of health tie into one another.
8. What’s the best part of your job?
The people, for sure! I see these people at their most vulnerable times, and it’s incredibly important to me the relationships that I build. My job gives you the opportunity to help change people’s lives, build lasting friendships, and guide people on a deeper journey to know themselves. Bonus that I get to move all day with them!
9. Do you have a favorite class to teach?
“So Matcha Mobility,” which is a class that I developed as my own a few years ago. I start with diaphragmatic breathing, followed by active mobility exercises to a great playlist, and then finish with calmer passive mobility postures. I bring the energy down in the room, guide the group with a meditation, and then have a local coffee shop provide iced matcha lattes. It’s a class about taking care of our bodies, and our minds, and then there’s a community connection piece at the end. People, MVMNT, and Matcha, what more could you want?
10. Do you have a favorite class to take?
I honestly love attending any fitness class, especially classes that my friends in Palm Beach County are teaching. I don’t get a lot of free time to drop in places, but when I do, it’s always about supporting my local people. I’ve dropped into almost every gym, CrossFit, yoga and group fitness studio in the county.
11. What’s your unpopular gym etiquette opinion?
The bad vibe crowds, yuck. For me, I think it’s quite common for people to make fun of someone who may not understand they’re doing something incorrectly at the gym. In my opinion, it says more about someone’s character that they’re putting another person down for stepping foot in the gym and trying. Proper etiquette would be to let them have their own journey, cheer them on, be a support, or ask them if they’d like some help. Good vibes only.
12. Have you ever considered getting a whistle?
I’ve never had a whistle, but I have one heck of an outdoor voice that’s just as loud as a whistle!
13. What’s your advice to someone hesitant to start attending classes?
Show up for yourself, and face that inner fear holding you back from a whole new lifestyle. Show up because you love your body, and don’t give a H-E-double-hockey-stick about what anyone else thinks of you. Movement is a form of therapy, and you have to honor the place you’re at in life. Go at your own pace, make modifications, and listen to your body!
14. How do you feel about all the New Year’s Resolution sign-ups? Honestly, anything that pushes people to more movement of their body and a healthy lifestyle, I support! However, I wish the statistics showed more people staying consistent with their resolutions. I believe the fitness industry could be more inviting so that people felt welcome and kept going. Movement is therapy.
15. What are your must-haves for successful workout recovery?
Enough water and electrolytes, consuming a well-balanced meal of high protein, unprocessed carbs, and vegetables. Oh, yes, and adequate sleep!
16. How do you spend a rest day?
I love a great at-home self-care day. Throw on my waffle spa robe, a face mask, under eye patches, tackle executing some of my community events planning on the computer, and enjoy an amazing coffee. If it’s beautiful weather, you’ll always catch me at the beach, in the ocean, or taking a walk at sunset!
17. If you could only choose five exercises what would they be?
Running, however, I know that it’s necessary to still keep in my fitness vocabulary, so a couple of times a month, I still incorporate it. I don’t love it, but it’s great to keep moving that way!
19. What makes you most proud about your fitness journey?
I was always very hypermobile and, as a young dancer, never was taught how to correctly engage my core. I have suffered from four disc bulges, one intense herniation, a coccyx that’s slightly rotated from a fall, and sacroiliac dysfunction. I have come a long way in educating and rehabbing myself back into pain-free function. Having these experiences has helped me learn an incredible amount about the spine, core musculature, pain patterns, core stability, and what’s within my scope to help others.
20. What fitness goals are on the horizon?
I have quite a few projects up my sleeve! The first one I’m rolling out next will be the “TRAINERS GOTTA TRAIN” event (hosted at my facility, MVMNT WPB) benefiting the Special Olympics athletes of South Florida.
21. Plug your sign-up link, class schedule, exciting news, etc. MVMNT WPB is the boutique personal training facility that I train at and co-own with my husband Nick. Catch me there most days of the week working with the awesome MVMNT team, teaching outdoor yoga for CityPlace Saturdays at 10 a.m., working with West Palm Police Department, Keiser University athletes, Cressey Sports Performance, local high schools, and non-profits bringing mindful mobility to all who need it!
