WELCOME TO THEATRE CALGARY
Families are an infinite source of joy, but quite often also the cause of much consternation. Raising a family in this day and age is a courageous act, as we strive to bring up our children to be the best they can be, to exceed STAFFORD ARIMA, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR & JON JACKSON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR our greatest selves, and to carry on our legacies. But what happens when our children surprise us? In Admissions, the latest awardwinning play from Joshua Harmon – whose play, Bad Jews took Theatre Calgary audiences by storm in 2016 — we are introduced to the Mason family whose son Charlie is poised to graduate from a prestigious prep school at the top of his class. All seems right with the world, but is it?
We are so pleased to have you here with us for this fiercely bitingly black-comedy that tackles the complexities of family dynamics in our contemporary and politicallycorrect age. During this season, we’ve seen families come in all shapes and sizes – from Marc Hall’s community of supporters at his high school in The Louder We Get, to the Cratchit clan and their rag-tag kids in A Christmas Carol. The family in Admissions is one you’ll never forget.
