HOW IT WORKS

All of our authors go through 3 distinct phases on the way to becoming a bestselling author. The first phase is all about preparation. This guarantees you get a strong return on this investment. As Steven Covey says:

“When climbing the ladder of success, make sure it’s leaned against the right building.”

In the second phase, we do the heavy lifting of banging out the “shitty first draft.” Because of the preparation in phase one, this takes most of our authors 24-48 hours (with some reporting as few as 12 hours). This can happen through interviews, talk to text, compiling transcripts, or short writing sessions and we promise will be FAR LESS PAINFUL than reading ridiculous interpretations of your life’s work by a ghostwriter who barely knows you. The final phase is all about making sure you and the book are prepared to meet the world. We’ll take care of the editing, design, polishing, and publishing work to minimize the time and effort you need to devote to the project to get a book you are proud of bringing into the world. PHASE 1

Speed track: 1 day Steady track: 4 weeks In the 1st phase we don’t do any writing! This is about preparing to write the RIGHT book. One that will actually have the desired effect on your reader to change their life and one that is also in line with the ways you want a book to change your life and business. When you start by writing, you often make critical mistakes that keep your book from making the difference you intended. Did you know 80% of the effectiveness of marketing a book comes out of what you write, how you write it and how you publish? Once your book is out in the world none of that can be changed. We need to make sure you and your readers are set up for success. Without this phase, even the best marketing team and the biggest budget can’t help your book make the impact you intend for it to make.

PHASE 2

Speed track: 2 days | Steady track: 8 weeks

In phase 2, we do the heavy lifting of actually writing your draft manuscript. Our mantra during this phase is: “Keep writing forward.” Every week you will have a 24 hour writing assignment due in to your editor. Alternatively, you can bust this baby out in 2, hard core, no-one-talk-to-me-I’m-writing, days. We know that might sound crazy, but we have helped hundreds of busy CEOs, doctors, and lawyers, bang out their drafts in two focused days of writing. In fact, it’s how our CEO and Vice President find time to write their books. We’ll set a schedule with you and keep you on time and accountable and to make sure your writing is going in the right direction to meet your goals. During this phase and throughout the program you will have access to our book coaches, editors and project managers so that any challenge you face is addressed immediately and you can focus on the task of writing your book and nothing else.

PHASE 3

8 weeks

During this phase you are on our timeline. Our editorial and design team will take your draft and convert it to a masterpiece you can we proud of. You will meet as regularly as you decide with our team to get the book whipped into shape. Some authors are hands off and like to trust our editors to work their magic, meeting occasionally for a quick review and approval. Others like to go line-by-line with their editors. Your work style will be matched with our deadlines to make sure the book will be launched on time with as much effort on your part as you desire. In all cases, our authors get the final say on the final edit, proof read, and design. Plus, we will make sure you and your team are prepared emotionally and logistically to bring this message to the world. During this period there will be editing and design and publishing tasks, but we will also prepare with you all the marketing we need for your book launch. This includes things like helping you get advance praise for your book, getting reviews lined up, as well as building a book launch team to help you bring your message to the widest possible audience.

PRE-LAUNCH & BEYOND 2 weeks

We’ll launch your book LIVE on Zoom to an intimate party of your friends and fans. We’ll train your book launch team ensuring they follow all the steps required to get bestseller status. We will teach your team how to use your book to grow your list, get leads, and even convert clients live on the video stream. After your pre-launch, your ebook will be available on Amazon and you will have a PDF that you can use as a lead magnet in marketing promotions. LOGISTICS OF WORKING WITH US

There are several tools we use to do our jobs and help you get your book done. Our student center is hosted by Kajabi and while you can access it on mobile devices, it’s better on a laptop or desktop. Everyone enrolled in our live or virtual programs will need to have a computer and must be able to type their chapters or have them typed. You must also be able to read and review edits on a computer. You cannot write your book on your phone in our program though some have tried!) Dr. Angela hosts weekly office hours for you to ask questions on Zoom. You will need a phone or computer and the Zoom software to reach her. Those calls are recorded and can be downloaded as mp3 files but they must be downloaded from a computer. You will also have calls with your Managing Editor. These can be done over Zoom or phone. A very active, private Facebook group is the place where you can get 24/7 support and answer to any of your questions, obstacles or stumbling blocks. You will need to have an account on Facebook to fully participate in the program. The program will include email exchanges with many members of our team, but most especially your managing editor. Finally, you will need to use our project management software, Basecamp. It can function a lot like email for you once it’s configured but this allows everyone on the team to see what you are doing and eliminates any issues with email deliverability with large manuscripts. Your team may also need access to your basecamp account to upload or download files. { 14 }

WHEN, WHAT HOW MUCH WE START NOW We have been doing this program for almost a decade and what we have learned is our most successful clients sign up right away. We get how this could sound like a high pressure sales tactic, so allow us to explain. Many people have personality types that require a lot of debate and decision. In the KOLBE personality test this is called a “Fact-Finder.” These types of personalities do not thrive with our systems which consistently require you to make difficult strategic decisions (with our help!) and then stick to them.
