fter one year of absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual military parade held in Madrid on 12 October to celebrate the Día de la Fiesta Nacional was organized again in 2021. The day coincides with the arrival of Christopher Columbus on the American continent in October 1492 and nowadays, this Spanish National Holiday symbolizes the cultural and linguistic expansion of the country beyond European borders. The paseo de La Castellana in Madrid is traditionally the centre of this event and after the Spanish national flag had been raised, the 258
air parade graced the Madrilenian skies followed by a large parade of men and vehicles on the ground. The military ceremony was reviewed by King Felipe VI and his Royal Family, military high-ranking staff, members of the government and regional officials. Over 2600 men and women as well as 115 vehicles
