Food Issue

Denver is always top in the rotation of cities I love to visit and there are always so many delicious options for food. As soon as you get out of the airport, you’ll notice the crisp clean air and mountains in the distant horizon. Colorado is also a legal state, so what better way to explore good food than with the inspiration of munchies.

You can find an Airbnb that notes “420 friendly” if you plan to smoke where you sleep. Not all hotels have balconies, and though it is legal, you can’t really smoke in public. My husband and I once stayed at Aloft Downtown Denver. There is also an Aloft in Downtown Orlando and other metropolitan cities. It has a very artsy boutique vibe and is linked to Marriott. It is one street over from 16th Street, which is a popular area to shop, dine and play tourist. We had a corner view of downtown.

The Big Blue Bear is an iconic tourist attraction: a 40 foot blue bear peeking into the Denver Convention Center. It’s a free Denver must-see. You can also have dinner at the Downtown Aquarian and take a tour after. Denver Art Museum always has a great exhibition and a cool view of the city. The building itself is a work of art. The Denver Zoo is HUGE and they also have pineapple whip, my favorite dairy-free ice cream. It’s basically frozen pineapple juice. There were tulips everywhere and honestly, the zoo was so big that I don’t even think we saw it all but we really enjoyed it.

Let’s get to the food, shall we!? I highly recommend and demand that you have breakfast or brunch at Snooze Eatery next to Union Station. Union Station itself is really cool. You have a market, bookstore and many shops inside a 100-year old historic landmark. Snooze Eatery is unforgettable. You can get a breakfast potpie, breakfast tacos, (my favorite) huevos rancheros, Denver’s famous Chile Verde and a selection of breakfast cocktails. If you are looking for gluten-free or vegan options, City O’ City is Denver’s favorite vegetarian food hub, open from 7am-1:30am! The food is delicious, creative and there is something for everyone.
