It is a matter of great pride to all the members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides that the strategy and efforts of BSG towards retaining Membership Growth is appreciated and shared by WOSM with other National Scout Organisation at World Level. There is no doubt, this has the result of untiring efforts and hard work of the Local, District and State Associations. The WOSM has invited the Bharat Scouts and Guides to share Membership Growth Strategy of the organisation with other National Scout Organisation of the world.
The Covid Vaccination has started throughout the country. Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers and Unit Leaders are helping the citizens and health workers at vaccination centres in various parts of the country and also creating awareness about vaccination in the community. I request all the members to assist the local administration in the vaccination programme. Even we have to continue our work for the protection from covid-19 as the no. of cases are increasing again. Its our duty to motivate people for social distancing and use of mask for protection.

programmes for the youth. Recently a virtual Webinar on “Career Counselling” was organised by the members of the National Youth Committee on 14.03.2021 which is highly appreciable. Now youth has been empowered to take decisions.
Inspite of Covid-19, our programme has been started physically also along with virtual programmes. Our members are now started actively participating in the adventure programmes and projects of WAGGGS and WOSM. Recently, Prepared To Learn and Prepared to Lead, a leadership development programme and State Membership Growth Coordinator Training was organised at National Headquarters successfully maintaining social distance and all the precautions as per govt. guidelines. States also started physical training and programmes. Our heartiest thanks to all the States and members for showing braveness.
In the Programme and Training Committee meeting held virtually, all the members appreciated the efforts taken by NHQ and assured to take appropriate action to achieve the targets as fixed by the NHQ. Congratulations to all.

Cubs /Bulbuls Golden Arrow Award Ceremony
The Golden Arrow Award Ceremony was held at National Headquarters, The Bharat Scouts and Guides on 22nd February, 2021 at 15:00 hrs.
4552 Cubs from 15 states, namely, Chhattisgarh, Eastern Railway, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, K.V.S., Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, N. F. Railway, Punjab, Rajasthan, Southern Railway, Tamilnadu, West Bengal and 3997 Bulbuls from 14 states such as Chhattisgarh, Eastern Railway, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, K.V.S., Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, N. F. Railway, Punjab, Rajasthan, Southern Railway, Tamilnadu were selected for the awards.
Dr. Anil Kumar Jain, President, Bharat Scouts and Guides was the Chief Guest of the Day, Dr. K. K. Khandelwal, Chief National Commissioner was the guest of Honour. Also Mr. Pithamber, Businessman was also present in the function.
Welcome was extended by the Cubs/Bulbuls of Haryana & Uttar Pradesh states through Cub/Bulbul greetings followed by flag ceremony and garlanding the statue of Lord and Lady B. P. which depicted the World Thinking Day.
During the award ceremony, the Golden Arrow Award Certificates were presented by the Hon’ble President,The Bharat Scouts and Guides to the concerned units leaders.
Friends to Bharat Scouts and Guides andVolunteers who rendered Service during COVID-19 were felicitated. Hon’ble Charges& Course Certificates were presented by Hon’ble Chief National Commissioner. In addition to this appreciation certificates to some of the NHQ professionals were presented by the Chief National Commissioner for their dedicated service.
The Cubs and Bulbuls of Haryanaand Uttar Pradesh states presented beautiful cultural programme which was appreciated by one and all.
22nd February being the World Thinking Day with the theme ‘Stand Together for Peace’. Joint Director (G) presented the importance of the day in the form of a video. APR-WAGGGS team too attended the celebration virtually & addressed the house.

Hon’ble President & Chief National Commissioner addressed the gathering with inspirational words.Thinking day fund was also collected.
In all 120 members witnessed the ceremony physically. By singing National Anthem the ceremony came to an end. Ms. M.N. Machamma, Deputy Director (G) Leader Training was the Leader of the Ceremony.
National Level Covid Protection Cum Environment Awareness Programme
National Level Covid Protection Cum Environment Awareness Programme was held at Trikuta Bhavan Katra, Jammu and Kashmir from 24th to 28th February, 2021 in which 98 participants attended from Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, N.F. Railway, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, S.E. Railway, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
The programme was started on24th February, 2021 with the registration. Shri Ramesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Mata Vashino Devo Shrine Board, J&K inaugurated the programme and Shri Amit M., Superintendent of Police Katra, was the guest of Honour. The covid protection and environmental awareness rally was organised with banners & slogans which was highly appreciated by the citizens of Katra. Presentation of “Nukud Natak” near the Katra us stand was arranged with the aim to make people aware about Covid during the rally.
On 25th February, 2021 the participants were flagged off by Mr. Jitender Gupta, Commandant CRPF for trekking via new road to Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, Bhaironath temple and Aardhkwaari temple. It was about 30 km trek and the participants came back to base camp in the morning on 26th February, 2021. The participants walked continuously almost for 22 hours.
Interactive sessions on “Free Being Me” – ABC, U-Report, OYMS, were conducted and participants had taken active part in all the activities.
On 27th February, 2021, all the participants went to “Jathhu ji temple” and “Nau Devi temple” situated on the outskirts of Katra. Later, an interactive session on “Environmental Awareness” was delivered. The session was interesting which included the problem arising in the environment and the remedies to those problems.
The Grand Campfire was conducted in the evening on 27th February, 2021. Smt. Indu Kawnal Chib, AIS (District Development Commissioner) Reasi was the Chief Guest along with other dignitaries of District Administration. Citizens of Katra and officials of State Headquarters also witnessed the campfire and blessed the participants.
The programme was led by Shri Mahinder Sharma, ROC (S), Northern Region, ably assisted by Shri Kamaljeet Sharma, L.T.(S) (Haryana), Shri K.L. Sharma, Shri Sheikh Anaya Ullah, Smt. Veena Sharma, Smt. Ranjana Sharma & Shri Haroon Malik from Jammu and Kashmir.

NATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE, PACHMARHI
58th Assistant Leader Trainer Course for Guide Wing was conducted at National Training Centre,
Pachmarhi from 22nd to 28th February, 2021 in which 69 participants from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Rajasthan, S.E. Railway, Tamilnadu, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh with 07 Staff Members attended.
As per Scheme of Training (Guide Wing) the session were dealt such as Fundamentals, What is Scouting/Guiding, Training Needs of Unit Leaders, Group Dynamic, Importance of Games, A Systematic Approach to Training, Areas of Training, Designing the Course Programme, Training Administration and Course Report, Base Method, Team Teaching and Brain Storming, Assessment of Candidates, Selection of course staff, Principal of Communication, Obtaining and using resources, Role Function and Skills of a Trainer, Human Relation, Community Development Project, Planning and Back Dating, Golden Arrow, PMSC/UPRAC, Micro Teaching, written test and Quiz etc.
Apart from these subjects regular activities such as B.P. Six, Inspection, Roll Call Drill, U-Report, TTPC, Free Being Me, OYMS, ABC, MoP & Friends of BSG took place during the course days.
Thinking Day was celebrated on 22nd February, 2021 during the course.

5th Online Pre-ALT Course Guide Wing
The Bharat Scouts and Guides, National Headquarters conducted 5th Online PRE-ALT Course for Guide Wing from 17th to 23rd Feb 2021 in which 50 participants from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Eastern Railway, Delhi, Haryana, Kerala, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Mizoram, Nagaland, South East Coast Railway, Tamilnadu, Telangana and West Bengal attended. Ms. K. Alamelu, former Joint Director (support service) inaugurated the course. Shri Raj Kumar Kaushik, Director Bharat Scouts and Guides blessed the participants. The objectives of the course were presented by the Leader of the course. Ms. Saroja P,former Director & former Joint Director (G) and senior Leader Trainer (G) was a Guest speaker for the topic `support to leader` and for the session on Scheme of training. Ms. M. N. Machamma, Deputy Director (G) Leader Training,gave `Information about WAGGGS`; U-report was taken by Joint Director (G) Ms. Darshana Pawaskar.Shri Analendra Shrama, Assistant Director North East Region took WOSM session. Mr. Bablu Goswami, Assistant Director, Eastern Region gave information about OYMS. WAGGGS initiative Red-pride

was taken by Madhusree. There were several spare time activities organised patrol-wise utilizing the breakout rooms. On 22nd World Thinking Day was celebrated in a grand manner. Every-morning the course started with `Thought for the day` and reflection & report. Energizing activity was conducted patrol-wise. Micro-teaching was presented by the participants in breakout room. The campfire was organised by the various patrols with innovative & colourful programmes. On 23rd morning at 9:30 a.m All Faith prayer was organised virtually. Valedictory function was organised on 23rd Feb at 4:00 pm, in the presence Smt. Anar Patel, Deputy International Commissioner of Guides. Shri Manish Kumar Metha, National Commissioner (Headquarters) for co-ordination was the guest of honour. Mrs. Kumud Mehra, Assistant Director, Southern Region was the Leader of the Course.
The first regular course, after lockdown, was held at National Training Centre from 22nd to 28th February, 2021 to provide opportunity to the prospective trainers who applied for appearing in the Course for ALTs scheduled in April, 2020. 100 applications were received at NTC. National Headquarters approved the courses to be conducted in self financing mode and the response was very encouraging. We also received enquiries for new applicants to attend the course. In the course we received 52 participants from all over the country, 51 from scout section and one from cub section. For keeping high standards of the course the course was divided into two troops of scouts with Shri A.S. Shekhawat, LT (S) and Shri L.N. Sharma, LT(S) as in-charges of practical troops for all activities and sessions. In addition to the syllabus provided in the SOT (SW), it was felt that the trainees needed revision of practical subjects to conduct basic/advanced courses. Demonstrations of all ceremonies were conducted for reinforcing the knowledge and skills. The participants were informed about the pre-course assignments and self learning materials were provided to them using the facilities of Whattsapp. This provided an opportunity to interact with the participants before the course and make them mentally prepared to participate actively. Spare Time Activities were fruitfully utilized to review the knowledge and skills of the participants on pioneering, mapping, first-aid and their participation in unit activities. The contents delivered on adult learning/ training, management of adults, creating learning situations and practical games on training and testing kept the participants active. The training team did their best to make the course highly informative and used all modern training techniques to deliver high standards in the course. Shri P.R. Jangid, LT (S), Shri V.S. Chouhan , LT ( C ), Shri Nagesh, ALT (S), Shri A.S. Kori, ALT (S), Shri S.C. Behera, ALT (S) were on the staff of the course.

64 participants from all over the country participated in the course. There were 9 trainees of cub section, 2 from Rover Section and 53 from scout section. As the participants were large in number two troops with participants of the scout section and a cub pack with all cub trainees were created to run the course effectively. The Cub pack was led by Akela Shri D. Poornacharndran, LT (Cub), the Scout Troops were led by Shri Manoj Nair, LT (S), Shri. Mansingh Bhai Choudhary, LT(S) and Shri S.K.Dwivedi, LT(S). The Rover trainees were supported in technical subjects by Shri Paul Sunder Singh , ALT (R). the faculty of the course consisted of Shri V.S. Badoriaya, LT (S), Shri Nagesh, LT (S), STC (S), Shri Prasanth Gaikwad, LT(S), Shri Mahesh Sahu, ALT (S), Shri S.P. Tiwari, LT (S) and Shri S.C. Behera, ALT (S).
The cub pack and one troop was accommodated in queenie park and the other troop camped in Lalit Cub Bulbul park. Sessions were delivered in Hindi and English separately to give more freedom to participants to interact easily. Management sessions were conducted in Kunzru Hall.
Demonstrations of all the sectional programmes, ceremonies and games kept the trainees busy in revising their knowledge and skills. All training methods and techniques were demonstrated to adopt the most appropriate training methods to be used during adult courses. Various learning situations were created and the participants enjoyed them. The skills related to youth programmes upto Tritiya Sopan and Chaturth Charn were reviewed through STAs and projects.

NATIONAL YOUTH ADVENTURE PROGRAMMES
National Youth Adventure Programmewas conducted at Nirmal Nature Campsite, South Goa from 1st to 5th Feb, 2021 in which 53 participants from Chhattisgarh, Eastern Railway, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, S.E. Railway, Tamilnadu and Uttar Pradesh attended. The course was inaugurated on 1st Feb, 2021 by Sh. James Fernandes, State Secretary, Goa.
The participants went for sight-seeing to Mangesha Temple in Mardol, Old Goa Church. After lunch the participants visited Colva Beach.
The participants went 15-16km on trekking from campsite to Chandreshwar Bhothnath Temple in Paroda. Participants went to Shiroda Beach, Dona Paula beach, Mahavir garden Miramar and Calangute beach and Bagha Beach. Grand Campfire was organized at Cruz in the evening. All the participants enjoyed the opportunity to visit the Cruz and enjoyed the colourful Campfire.
On last day morning, the participants went for swimming and obstacles bases in the campsite. After lunch the camp to a close by completing the course formalities.
In between the course, Sh. Vivek Kumar Das, Jr. Instructor took the session on Free Being Me and U-Report. Every participant registered in U-Report.
Shri Siddharth Mohanty, Asst. Director, Northern Region, Western Region and NYC was the Leader of the course who was ably assisted by Shri Vivek Kumar Das, Junior Instructor, Ms. Manisha Rathore, MP, Ms. Padma, Goa, Shri Yashwant Sinari, SOC(S) Goa.
Another National Youth Adventure Programme was conducted at Nirmal Nature Campsite, South Goa from 8thto 12thFeb, 2021 in which 149 participants from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Central Railway and West Bengal actively participated. The course was inaugurated on 8th February, 2021 by Dr. Uday Gaonkar, Deputy Director, Dept. of Education, Goa cum Vice President BSG Goa. The cultural programme was presented by Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan States. The participants went for site-seeing at Mangesha Temple in Mardol, Old Goa Church. After lunch the participants visited Colva Beach.
