In October of 2021, the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation built a new playground behind the Farragut Town Hall.

BlueCross has built several such playgrounds, called BlueCross Healthy Places, for the company’s 75th anniversary. The Town of Farragut applied for one and was accepted. The organization spent $750,000 on Farragut’s new playground which can be enjoyed for free by kids all over the community. BlueCross lists several features of this Healthy Place including: “a fully inclusive play area, a Thrive fitness station, a community pavilion, a swing set and freestanding play structures.” The playground is built to be accessible to all. Wendy Smith, Farragut’s Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator, explained that, “The different play elements, a lot of them are

She also talked about another of the park’s features: “There’s a pretty nice little fitness area for adults, so if you had kids that were playing responsibly, then [the parents] could be working out at the same time.” According to their website, BlueCross has already completed ten such projects across Tennessee with seven more on the way—a generous gift to these communities.
