About the Bluecoat· The Bluecoat is a vibrant, contemporary arts space, and is also home to creative industries. After a £14.5 million redevelopment over 3 years, we reopened our Grade One listed building during Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture, 2008. Re-born in the heart of Liverpool One - the city’s new vibrant shopping and leisure district - the striking yet sensitive redevelopment has been recognised both at home and abroad, receiving several accolades, including a special commendation at the World Architecture Festival Awards and winning the inaugural Liverpool Architectural Society’s ‘Building of the Year’ award. The Bluecoat is a vibrant arts space, presenting an exciting year-round programme of contemporary visual art, music, dance, live art and literature. The Sandon & Garden Rooms Spa ces The Sandon Room, Garden Room & adjoining Sandon Courtyard

Three of the most popular spaces within the Bluecoat. Located off the garden on the ground floor with original windows, doorways and fireplaces, the light, airy spaces are available for hire individually or together. The Sandon room offers a fresh and intimate atmosphere for wedding ceremonies for up to 60 guests. Walk down the iconic red carpet, with floor to ceiling Georgian windows behind you. A Grand piano makes an impact in the room, adding a touch of classic romance to your day. The Sandon room then leads out onto our Courtyard, where you and your guests can gather for drinks.

The Garden room overlooks the main Bluecoat gardens and offers seating for up to 60 guests for a ceremony. The light and airy room also looks out on the private Courtyard. The Sandon Room, Garden Room and Courtyard can also play host to an intimate wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. The Bluecoat is licensed for weddings. Located on the first floor, this light and spacious venue offers high ceilings and historic features with a modern edge. The large windows give good views of both the front courtyard and garden at the rear. The bistro is also the most popular of all our spaces for wedding celebrations. Enjoy your drinks reception with your guests at the elegant bar, with comfy couches overlooking the Courtyard. Then take a seat at the top table to enjoy a delicious 3 course wedding breakfast.

Performance Space Located on the first floor of the new arts wing, adjacent to the Upstairs bistro, the Performance Space is the largest and most flexible area. The Performance Space offers state-of-the-art AV technology with exceptional audio visual facilities and our own in-house lighting enables you to create that perfect setting.

Library The smallest of all our spaces, the Library can seat 30 guests for a ceremony and 20 guests for a Wedding Breakfast. This minimalist, light and sleek library with its large, Georgian windows overlooking the Front Courtyard is ideal for an intimate celebration.
