The Bluecoat is Liverpool city centre’s oldest building and has evolved into Liverpool’s hub for creativity over a fascinating 300 year history. Since reopening in 2008 after a multi-award winning redevelopment, a new generation of artists and creative businesses have made this iconic building their home. You can now enjoy a year round programme of visual art, literature, music, dance and live art. The Bluecoat is an independent organisation and a registered charity, number 700862.
Arts, crafts and creativity • Visit our galleries to enjoy regularly changing exhibitions of contemporary art. All exhibitions are free of charge. • Take in our varied programme of live music, dance and live art performances, literature discussions, readings and workshops. • We are home to over 30 resident artists and businesses designing, making, exhibiting and selling. • You will find many opportunities to join in, including Explore, free art activities for all the family (running most Saturdays throughout the year). See www.thebluecoat.org.uk, call 0151 702 5324 or pick up a brochure for our event programme. And you can follow us on:
Visit the creative, independent retailers at the Bluecoat and find something beautifully designed, hand-made and unique. There’s everything from jewellery and ceramic ware at the internationally recognised Display Centre, to books, records, hand-made accessories, boutique clothing and specialist hand-engraving and silversmith services in the shops surrounding the courtyard and garden.
Heritage A UNESCO World Heritage Site and Grade I listed building, the Bluecoat is one of Liverpool’s most iconic historical and architectural landmarks. Take yourself on a journey around the building and into its past with our free heritage trail. Visit the heritage stand in the hub. Or book a free Heritage Tour, call Tickets and Information on 0151 702 5324 for more details.
