Our Communities Biggest Heroes: Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels is a NotFor-Profit organisation that dedicates its service to the most vulnerable and elderly patrons in Australia. For over 65 years, they have supported the nutritional wellbeing of 200,000 older Australians through supplying, cooking, and delivering local meals.

Bribie Island’s Meals on Wheels, situated in Woorim, provide extremely lowcost meals for seniors from Woorim to Beachmere. As a result of being a Not-ForProfit organisation, Meals on Wheels are always in need for a helping-hand – whether this may be chopping vegetables, preparing a salad, or delivering meals to homes. Volunteers are Centrelink approved at Meals on Wheels. Remember, one act of kindness and assistance can go a long way.
My Grandparents volunteer for Meals on Wheels twice a week. Their experience at the organisation is always positive, especially since they volunteer with other like-minded people wanting to help the

The Bribie Island Comm Plant Nursery vulnerable in any way they can. They tell me how they work as a team to pump out nutritious, delicious meals –sometimes hundreds in a just a week! My Grandparents’ stories about Meals on Wheels are incredibly inspiring. However, the most motivating part about volunteering for this organisation is the fulfilment garnered from every meal that gets delivered. As a youth citizen, I sometimes wonder who will look after me when I become too vulnerable to look after myself. This thought encourages me to support Meals on Wheels in any way I can. It is important to try our best to eradicate the chance of malnutrition that older Australians may experience in difficult times.
Caring for our community’s seniors is one of the greatest responsibilities we have.
Every volunteer at Meals on Wheels has heroically saved hundreds of thousands of lives – perhaps you could call yourself a hero too.

You could sit and talk about a certain situation forever. But, no matter what you hear, nothing’s going to change your mind or alter your standpoint. Nor will there be much movement in another person’s attitude. Yet, although there’s disagreement in the air, there’s no need for an argument. Acceptance is key. This week calls for a statement of your position, followed by a negotiation. Full agreement might be impossible. But, if a difference of opinion is carefully managed, you’ll be delighted by what becomes possible. Oscar’s gift… completely free audio and video forecasts. Go to ozfree.cainer.com

When they tell us that ‘patience is a virtue’ it’s as if they’re trying to convince us that it’s okay to be easygoing. Yet patience is more than an optional add on. It’s an essential requirement. Without it, we can’t achieve much, and we’re unlikely to get much enjoyment out of our lives. Maybe we’d find it easier if it were portrayed as being a vice. We tend to be much more attracted to naughty things than things that are good for us! Go gently this week. There’s no need to expend huge amounts of energy. Good things are naturally unfolding. We enjoy telling other folk how to live because it’s much easier to criticise someone than to admit to our own mistakes. And it’s much easier to give advice than to take it. Which is why we’re surrounded by experts. We all want to be expert! And we all want to receive expert advice! Yet real experts know that no matter how much knowledge they have, they’ll never understand everything. Be cautious of anyone who sees things in black and white this week. The grey space might not look exciting, but it’s where real possibilities can be found. Right here, right now… completely free audio and video forecasts. Go to ozfree.cainer.com

How valued are you? How much do you matter? I’m not asking because you need to compare the amount of gratitude other people are showing somebody else with the amount they’re giving you. It’s about how much you appreciate yourself and your achievements. We all doubt ourselves sometimes. And because we all need (and deserve) to feel good about who we are, it helps when others show their appreciation. When events, this week, help boost your self-esteem and self-confidence, enjoy the feeling. You deserve it!
