EU Referendum Bill Dear Prime Minister, I am writing to ask you and the Government to amend the Referendum Bill so that 16 and 17 year olds can vote in the proposed “In Out” European Union ballot. Following the successful precedent in the vote for Scottish independence, this is another historic vote, a long-term vote, and a single issue vote that younger voters can and have proven they are ready to use responsibly. These were the arguments that your last Government accepted for Scotland, where the subsequent high level of engagement in democracy is new evidence for you to consider in favour of an extension of the right to vote to all of the UK - with the added benefit of investing in the future of our democracy – in or out of Europe. Yours sincerely,

Mita Desai Chair British Youth Council
