February 1st, 2016
Dear South Florida professional and businessperson, My name is “Ted Victor”, and I am the founder of The Broward Social Network. I would like to personally invite you, along with your like-minded associates, to attend a special event on the last Friday of March, the 25th, 2016. At this event, you will meet the ambitious and noble members of The Broward Social Network (The BSN). Refreshments will be served, in an elegant setting, with light jazz background music. A paid bar will be available during happy hours. The venue is at the Kasa Champet Restaurant & Lounge, located at 7920 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, Florida, 33024, in the Southeast corner shopping plaza of Pines Boulevard and University Drive. The BSN is a corporation with two missions: 1) to support the growth of the South Florida economy by providing local businesses a constant source of free leads and referrals, 2) to provide students from elementary school to college an opportunity to be mentored for one full workday, in one month, by an established professional in a field of interest, at the work place. As the mentor members of The BSN profit from the free referral component of this corporation, the mentors will encourage the student mentee, through one on one conversations, to take their education seriously, and to start learning the professional, corporate culture. Business referral services, and mentoring programs, are not new. However, The Broward Social Network is unique in the sense that this corporation is specifically focused on narrowing the space between the boardrooms and the classrooms, by making both the mentoring location and the minimal time commitment convenient for the mentor. The impetus for this considerable endeavor results from my experiences in the classroom. I have been teaching for over a decade, and I would describe myself as a dedicated, enthusiastic, and compassionate educator. Nevertheless, I have witnessed a demoralizing general apathy for learning, and a lack of respect for education among many of my students. Consequently, many young graduates enter the work-world with insubstantial, feeble, academic readiness. Predictably, this lack of academic readiness will detrimentally impact individuals, local businesses, our communities, and our society at large. The BSN is my small attempt to address high school dropout rates, delinquency, poor grades, poor attendance, lack of academic ownership and mastery, diminished intellectual curiosity in the classroom and commitment to learning, and the lowered postgraduate continuous educational pursuits. Imagine a world where each student gets to spend one day in a profession they are interested in. Imagine a world where each child had the opportunity to meet an established professional who would encourage them to not just dream bigger than their present realities, but to tangibly show them the actual steps of how to reach a professional goal of interest. The BSN’s mission to renew the link between economics and education in this unique model, will have many beneficial, yet indispensable results over time: 1) the next generation will be better prepared to enter the workforce, 2) businesses and professionals will create a meaningful revolutionary socioeconomic legacy, 3) students will be motivated to perform better in school, 4) students’ conduct and cooperation will improve in the school setting, 4) students will have access to a larger source of community settings for their community service hours graduation requirement, 5) there will be an increase in student and community reverence for education and teachers, 6) local

businesses, thus the local economy, will be strengthened, 7) student graduation rates will further increase, 8) student passage rate on standardize exams will improve as a result of a greater effort and commitment to learning, 8) students will have clearer professional goals after graduation, 9) increased partnerships and communication among the local residents, the surrounding community, the school system, and the business community, 10) a greater opportunity to professionally train, and have students develop useful work related skills, 11) lastly, an anticipation of a significant decrease in local crime, unemployment, and poverty. In closing, I ask that you register and be present on March 25th, 2016, from 6pm to 10pm. You may register now at http://thebsnmixer1.eventbrite.com. The ticket prices start at about $60, and will increase after February 25th. Please encourage your associates, business partners, colleagues, professional friends and family members, who are interested in growing their business while positively redirecting the next generation through mentorship, to register and to participate in this mission. Our youths are both noticeably, and unnoticeably, in a state of emergency. If we do not urgently invest quality time with the next generation, they will not be able to successfully manage our communities, thus our society, in the future. If we do not conscientiously and immediately mentor these wonderful, yet misguided youths, we will not have competent leaders in the years to come. As it stands, the future of our communities, the future of our society, is in jeopardy. I sincerely look forward to meeting you. A copy of the e-flyer for this event is included below. Thank you for the contributions you have already made, and will continue to make! â˜ş “Ted Victorâ€? Thierry Teodoro Miguel Florival-Victor, MA, MPH, MS, Ed.S.
