The most entertaining complaint They say internet dating can be a complete washout for many users. This was certainly the case for one disillusioned user - Nigel Fenner from Glasgow. He tweeted the same complaint message on Twitter and received a series of condolence messages and caring advice from other users who enjoyed the complaint message so much. It prompted over 12,000 new followers. Tweets from Nigel suggested that the administrators of website plentyoffish.com check their website for bugs as he had been an active member for 3 years with a response ratio of 1 in 300. Nigel argued that he was sending over 40 messages to potential date mates each day, everyday for the last 12 months and was receiving almost zero responses, he accused plentyoffish.com of not doing their job passing on his messages and even claimed he was probably black balled or something. He failed to mention that his profile picture may be to blame as it featured a chap posing in his traffic warden uniform proudly displaying a ticket he was about to issue. Followers to his tweets offered over 50 different suggestions; he has since cancelled that twitter account.
Weird Gumtree ticket sale goes viral With the internet, things happen when you are brave or nuts enough to come up with something different. This one makes the most favourite Gumtree advert for the year. A disgruntled but clever man found out his girlfriend had been humping around not one, but two men during their 3 year relationship. Shame he found out when he did as the girlfriend missed out on a ticket for her and friend to the final Radiohead gig at the O2. Being one not to wallow in self pity and waste tickets, our resourceful chap simply posted a Gumtree Ad which read - “Seeking two attractive females to replace former lover and her friend for a Radiohead gig at the O2 Arena. The main condition being that the two females needed to be hot and happy to pose in flirty photos at the gig. Talk about getting your own back - the response has been off the charts with a bevy of willing lady applicants. Our man may have just bagged himself a fun day with a possible choice of two hot girls and a new girlfriend. We’d love to hear the outcome.
Ethiopian government clamps down on Skype usage Never mind the constant threat of famine and year-round starvation, the Ethiopian government in their infinite wisdom believe policing internet communication is much more of a priority on the agenda. Al-Jahzeera recently reported that May this year, Ethiopian authorities passed new laws on the ban of VOIP means of online communication, especially the use of Skype to make phone calls. We are talking 15 years in jail if you are caught .The high volume of internet restriction and phone call snooping has been going on for quite a while in the war-torn country and there has always been a high level of paranoia according to a Brit expat in the country. The government makes it a top-ofthe list priority to battle opposition activity and tries it’s best to make communication a hazard. Some argue it’s all about protecting the monopoly of the state’s telecom carriers as Skype calling seemed to be the popular and much cheaper choice in internet cafes.
Internet is killing pubs Fourth generation brewer Jonathan Adnams has also confirmed that the dwindling decline in pub alcohol sales is a symptom of a change in traditional leisure choice. While he, amongst other brewers, believes the steady decline of the pub patronage results from a number of factors such as low-priced alcohol from supermarkets and the cigarette ban in pubs. The demise of the pub is mainly due to regulars getting used to spending more time on that ‘pesky internet’ and possibly the smoking ban. Even in the past 15 years, he says, the growth of online activities gives younger people too much choice of social activity even if it’s a virtual one. The liquor magnate explains that back in the day, your sleepy towns enjoyed regular pub visits and a steady predictable income was possible, as that was the main option for social recreation, there was not much else. That does seem plausible as internet has changed social interactivity where most young people prefer to use social networks as their new pubs while downing a cheap brand of beverage with a ciggie in one hand. It’s cheaper and there are no smoking bans at home.

Twitter Removes Anti-Semitic Postings, French Jewish Group Says With the great success of Twitter comes the headache of a responsibility. Twitter does not enjoy being the preferred medium of communication when it comes to mindless words from racists, daft troll addicts, and footballers’ of limited intellect. Twitter is however an open canvas and would probably continue to be what it has to be - or maybe not. The recent anti-Semitic postings proliferating in France under the hashtag #unbonjuif, was removed by Twitter bowing down to pressure from The Union Of Jewish Students Of France. The Twitter policy on non-censorship has been taking a constant battering and something had to give. As you can expect, the Twitter - gate users responded with accusations against Twitter “Who decides what is anti-Semitic and abusive? they complain. Twitter responded stating it doesn’t mediate content. It really is tough perched at the top of the social media tree. But hey, if you manufacture guns, you would eventually have to answer to unlawful killings.
ASDA fake emails take bait There has been some fake ASDA phishing for personal information with fake emails as bait. It’s the same old story - send your personal details for a chance to win a year’s shopping, your chance to win a gift card with £50 - £1000 worth of credit to spend. The emails are carefully crafted with the simple green ASDA logo and familiar fonts complete with slogan for good measure. They certainly went fishing alright, as we do like our freebies. Doing the rounds, the fake emails have amassed a full net of personal details which no doubt will be sold to email marketing agencies of shifty character. ASDA fought back by posting a warning on its Facebook fan page asking punters not to respond to such emails .We’re not sure how effective that may be - I mean who takes the time to visit a supermarket fan page? We’ve got a better idea, why not start a real ASDA campaign with a better offer than what you get on the fake emails?
Sacked for Facebook Comments Some people just don’t get the idea behind social networks, your life is in a fish bowl for all and sundry to view. Take the latest victim of administrative snooping - Young Miss Swann lost her job as an administrative assistant at a marketing and logistics company in Essex as a result of comments shared on her Facebook page where she complained about her job at the company being too boring. The equally bored HR at the company found the comments on her page and swiftly wrote her a letter of dismissal stating that they would not wish to make her unhappy any longer with a job she wasn’t enjoying, deciding to terminate her employment with immediate effect. A warning to Facebook addicts, the danger in posting your thoughts, naughty pictures or questionable subscriptions is not only in pre-employment but also while you’re in the job. Personnel in a large number of firms now score the net looking at Twitter and Linkedin to find out what staff are up to, the argument about privacy intrusion may not hold water when users insist on making comments public on Facebook. Miss Swann defended her comment - “I was an office administrator so of course it was boring.”
iPad mini - enough already! Not content with the mammoth profits from the release of the new iPhone 5, Apple continue their aggressive drive to empty the pockets of its loyal and somewhat dreamy fans with the introduction of the iPad mini, which is a smaller, more compact version of the, err, iPad. Starting price - $329. To be fair, we have been wrong about Apple bringing out one gadget after the next in such short succession. It’s easy to say the fans won’t buy into it with the possibility of the gadget becoming one that is un-necessary. It’s mind boggling to know that scores of customers took out a small loan or raided their overdraft just to get their hands on the iPhone 5. The same people who would have to flog their iPhone 4S and raid the bank again to get hold of a smaller version of the latest gadget a new version of, err, iPad 3. Apple is fast becoming a cult leader driven by a huge ego which is sated by its fans. It seems the Apple brand can come out with anything they like and they would still get the huge queues going again. What next - iPad with double screens called the iPad duo (oops, we may have given them an idea there).

By Lily Bean This is what the internet is all about - the means to make the world a small place where we can share delightful fun and forget about hardship, differences and prejudice. It shows that the world as a whole still has a sense of humour. Our thanks goes to PSY for bringing the world together.
N
ever mind the viral pandemic as a massive hit on YouTube, the parodies and copy cat versions are in themselves a sensation. Gangnam Style has been done by almost every man, child and their dog across the world. We tried counting how many we found on Youtube but realised we’d be late getting this issue out before the deadline. We gave up when we got to 89. So what is Gangnam Style and how come it has got everyone talking about it and dancing?
Introducing PSY and Gangnam Style Gangnam Style was released on 15th July 2012 and it was from PSY’s 6th studio album - PSY 6 (Six rules), Part 1. When it was released the single got the number one spot in the Gaon charts and by 19th October 2012 the video had got more than 500 YouTube views, making it the third most watched video on the site and the most watch K-Pop video. In fact it is so popular that it now has a 0.16% share of YouTube’s traffic, which might not seem too impressive at first, but when you consider that more than 4 billion hours of videos are viewed on YouTube each month you can see why PSY is smiling. The video was nominated for the Best Video for the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards which are set to be held in Frankfurt.
YouTube Parodies Anything that is popular gets parodied on YouTube and the site is filled with people doing their versions of Gangnam Style. These range from sleek and well produced videos to cut and paste homemade jobs shot on someone’s phone. All of these have their place and provide something to laugh at while covertly watching YouTube at work, just don’t laugh too loud!

That Dance
The dance moves featured on the Gangnam Style video are based on the Horse Dance which uses movements of the hands and some shuffle dancing moves to make it look as though dancers are riding a horse. These are easy to copy which has helped the video’s mass appeal even more. The elevator scene in the video is one of the most popular parts and the elevator guy, a Korean comedian called Nong Chul was more than keen to do his signature move for the cameras. The scene took 2 or 3 takes in total and had everyone on set falling around with laughter and it’s easy to see why.
What is Gangnam? Everyone is wondering just what Gangnam is and what the style is all about. Gangnam Style comes from a Korean term that refers to the lifestyle enjoyed by fashionistas and wealthy individuals in the Gangnam district of Seoul. It’s a slang term that is used in the same way as ‘YOLO’ or ‘booty’.
Gangnam Style to hit the game - Just Dance 4 Everyone is trying out the Gangnam Style moves so it only seems natural that it would be featured on one of the most popular dance games out there. PSY are certainly taking things to the next level by having their smash hit dance used in this way. Ubisoft, who make the game, will be rubbing their hands since there’s going to be plenty of people out there who buy the game just for Gangnam Style - all together “Hey Sexy Lady”.

UK goes Gangnam Style Crazy
Klingon style
Gangnam Style isn’t just a hit on YouTube, it’s become an overnight sensation in the UK too. It made history when it shot to number one on the 30th September 2012. This is the first time a South Korean song has ever gotten this far in the UK charts with radio stations across the country playing it till we can take no more.
We liked this one - you get nasty looking Klingons and the Star ship Enterprise crew doing a good job of the Gangnam moves. Klingon language over the song is quite a laugh. The Whoppie Goldberg addition worked quite well
chequered flag at the Korean F1 Grand Prix PSY took Gangnam Style to the Korean F1 Grand Prix held in Yeonhnam, South Korea. He was invited as a track marshal waving the chequered flag to mark the winner. While he was there, PSY got to teach a few dance moves to Vettel and his Red Bull team mate Mark Webber, which was a sight for sore eyes!

North Korea style Even the scary North Koreans are doing the Gangnam style, nevermind if it’s an edited video. When the North Koreans get a hold of this one, we’re all doomed to World War III, yikes!
As in life all good things must come to an end and while PSY is riding high at the moment, it will certainly end soon. People are getting fed up of hearing Gangnam Style everywhere, especially when it’s a really cheesy song with quite a silly dance, the laughs do wear off. Comments on YouTube are turning against the video and song and soon it will be consigned to the ‘One hit wonders’ category, but hey (sexy lady), it was fun while it lasted.

London style Gangnam Style is taken to the streets of London in this high energy parody that features dancing on the London Eye.
Mother and son take on Gangnam Style and the result is pretty impressive. All we’re saying is that we wish our mums were like this and had such killer moves!

US Navy Style
Jewish style The US Navy have got all the Gangnam moves down in this video which must have taken them ages to perfect. The result is fantastic, who knew the US Navy were such good dancers? Dancing is a bit camp, but hey! It’s the navy.
With a change of lyrics and funny scenes this is like a Weird Al video. It’s really catchy and we’re guessing you’ll be singing ‘Hey sexy Rabbi’ as soon as you’ve watched it.

Gandalf style Boris Johnson tells the Tory Party members that he had danced with David Cameron Gangnam Style and there’s short dream sequence with their heads superimposed over dancers’ heads. Very short video and not all that funny, skip this one!
Even Gandalf, well, some guy in a pretty poor costume goes Gangnam Style. The lyrics have been changed to make it fit in with the LOTR theme which are funny, it’s worth watching just for the look on people’s faces as he dances past them.

minecraft style A flash mob try their hand at Gangnam Style and although it’s a bit chaotic at times, it’s a fun video that will have you smiling. If you’re looking for feel good, you’ve found it with this version. Wouldn’t fancy jumping in that fountain though.
Short video game style parody that isn’t funny or clever or even remotely interesting. All we can say is there must be lots of Minecraft fans out there or this wouldn’t have over 7 million views.

Thailand Navy style
Another flash mob take on Gangnam Style. They have all the moves and are enjoyable enough. This is the kind of thing we could have done at University if we didn’t spend our time drinking and partying.... then again....
The Thai Navy try their hand (or should that be feet) at Gangnam Style. Even though it looks like it’s shot on someone’s phone, it’s funny and doesn’t go on for ages like some parodies do. It’s worth a view just for the enthusiasm of the dancers.

And why not? Living in the city centre or far out in the sticks can be a somewhat lonely existence sometimes. Especially if you are fussy about boring conversation from those in close proximity to you, or you may simply a Billy-no -mates. There is however no contract extension and your rented friend doesn’t have to ring you up for another meet until you pay for their company. It’s really great for sporting partners that would be happy to go for a quick drink after a round of golf or a go at the squash courts. You can earn some cash by becoming a friend rep too.
Doggie dating site doggie-dating.co.uk
It was always going to happen in a country of dog lovers like ours. How about it, a match.com for doggies. The hilarious pitch on the website is great - ‘Is finding a pal for your pooch no walk in the park? Are you tired of the dog-eatdog world of canine courtship? Or is matching a mate for your mutt a dog’s life? Then welcome to Doggie Dating, Britain’s best social networking site for dogs! Amazing stuff we think, so what happens when you have your mutt on your lap as you scroll down the pictures of the opposite doggie sex? Do you get a whoof !whoof ! for ‘stop, that one!’ signal ? Don’t you just love the internet?

Beer bottle chandelier
A three tier bottle chandelier - talk about recycling in style. This would be great in a jazzy wine bar. It’s available to buy and you can have it placed anywhere you like. The coloured bottles really are something to see when the lights are switched on. It’s perfect for that house party you’ve been planning. Who would believe that drinking was something to look up to.

Perfect for riding about in those clunky Boris bikes. Now you can ride about in dangerous metropolitan traffic with peace of mind knowing that when you get knocked over by irate motorists help is on the way. It’s designed to attach to helmets, and can detect impact and sudden motion using built-in accelerometers. It will pair with your smartphone over Bluetooth and send data to an App, which will then send an SMS containing vital information (like time of the accident, we can’t guarantee how emergency services would respond to the SOS, but at least they may respond to your distress call sometime the following week....
Sci-fi land walker
£20 - £500,000 per hour
$345,000 (US only)
millionairesconcierge.com/ celebrity-meet
sakakibara-kikai.co.jp/ products/other/LW
Yes - in cyberspace anything goes for a price. You truly can buy anything online, in this case a celebrity for hire by the hour. This is not a prank, its true and you can book one for your party. Your grub included. This cheeky directory has a disclaimer suggesting hired celebrities don’t have to act like your best friend. Its also a good way to rate celebrities - Donald Trump will grace your occasion for a cool $300,000 and well , you can probably get Vanessa Feltz for £20 an hour plus dinner grub... The website looks a bit dodgy and the business owner sounds like a secondhand car sales man be warned.
Fart bank
This monstrocity is a great gift to fans of the Transformers series. The Land Walker is something out of those futuristic games weighing in 2 tons and above. It’s about 10-feet tall, with a control area cockpit. It’s a great means of transport. Comes complete with Traffic warden deterrent courtesy of the two mounted guns, so you can leave it anywhere while going to do the shopping. The Land Walker is the world’s first 340cm bipedal exoskeleton.
USB Typewriter
£47 fartmart.com
This novelty gizmo is such a laugh. You get the fart appreciation in full sound when you drop coins in the slot. It’s a cheeky way to encourage savings in pence. The butt part is pants (excuse the pun) unloading the coins is annoying, we guess that’s the whole point - removing your savings is not supposed to be encouraged.. It notched up 39 reviews on Amazon, so you know it’s a true novelty.
Now this one we liked - the price is right and the design concept is really cool. For that nostalgic look and feel, you get a thrilling finger tip experience. Great for budding writers who like to feel like Ernest Hemmingway when they’re going about their work... Compare hi-tech with retro by fixing your iPad or PC monitor to the typewriter kit and you’re ready to bang away. None of that germ smudging nasties on your iPad screen. Its great for your gramps and older folk too.

Queue busters $36 per hour
Camera lens cup
$19.99
linestanding.com
This one makes so much sense, we can see it working well. Especially Monday mornings at the local bank branches or an early Friday morning in the city accident and emergency walk-ins. Courtesy of linestanding.com you can easily pay to get one of their people to stand in queues for you. Imagine how much they would charge to stand in line in wait for a new Apple product. The website is all clean and professional, suggesting that the service is a serious one. Only available in - you guessed it - the US. Charges are set as at a minimum 2 hours.
Buy a date
Cookies and coffee never looked so cool. Never mind the idea of no handle, the scalding is worth it just appreciating the design idea alone. Shame the rubber top doesn’t fit and screw closed, it just sits atop. Still –it’s great seeing the look of your mates face when you plonk it in the microwave to reheat the tea or coffee inside.
Air swimmer shark
£39.99 whatsyourprice.com
Well, they did say the internet was going to change everything. Too busy to go through the tedious hunt for a willing date online or otherwise, or are your wooing skills as sharp as a toy play knife, not to worry, because we have whatsyourprice.com where you can bid for a date by making a cash offer. It’s great if you are a money grabbing gold digger as you can conveniently search for bids and accept or make a counter offer. Its really great and works well even with some of the generous guys posting a profile without a picture.
Buy or sell used undies
It’s an inflatable helium filled shark that virtually swims in the air. It’s frightfully realistic especially after a few pints. Gas filling lasts for two weeks. Be warned - it takes a bit of patience to assembly the contraption, and it’s quite fragile too. Works best indoors, no point giving the neighbours a heart attack over the garden wall.
Binary furniture
pantydeal.com
Ewwww! Now that’s getting a bit crazy! But hey! It’s cyberspace, the place for the weird and the strange. The crazy idea actually has a market and we are not just talking about Japan. Pantydeal.com is best described as the Ebay of panty exchange (Heaven help us) In the attractive looking website, the pages suggest an air of clean fetish indulgence with the wall paper background and a fresh looking broad on the home page. On the community and marketplace page we read - ‘How about making money from worn panties where re-sale value is much more than the original price? There is a whole montage of popular members and premium girls .What can we say!

The dome heads at BRC Designs bring you a fab recycling idea in the form of circuit board furniture. Health and safety issues set aside - it would make any room a geek paradise, lets face it being a geek is the in thing these days anyway thanks to Mark Zuckerberg and the late Steve Jobs. You can go all out with the arm chair and coffee table including the weird looking dining chair. The seating area is made of computer ribbon cable and, yes, it’s actually quite comfortable. The changing tradition of family viewing by Jill Macrae
TV has been the centre piece of family entertainment for decades. It was great we got used to sharing our favourite programs with the family. Mum ,dad and the kids huddled round the TV set like a campfire lapping up whatever TV had to offer. That was then, this is now. The internet has brought with it a change that threatens the coveted position of the TV set for good.
How it was then……
TV as main source of viewing entertainment and news
T
here was no catch up TV, no repeats, no +1 channels, so if you missed something then tough luck, you probably wouldn’t be seeing it again. TV being like this gave it a sense of anticipation as you waited for a particular programme to come on and from time to time there was a big TV event such as a premier of a film or a music video being shown and these would get huge audiences - anyone remember when Michael Jackson’s Thriller video came out and everyone stayed up to watch it? Or The Royal wedding for Princess Diana and Prince Charles?

In the 1990s people started getting cable and satellite TV and things slowly started changing. You could access hundreds of channels showing programmes that weren’t available on UK TV and many of these channels ran through the night, no more having to go to bed once the UK channels had stopped broadcasting.

Then came the internet and things went crazy.

As people have more access to TV and films online via their PCs, smartphones and laptops they are moving away from traditional viewing habits. Watching TV, films, music videos and so on is now commonplace and many people will go directly online when they want to view a particular programme. As a result TV viewing figures are going down, yet people are still watching hours and hours of programming. The culture of TV is also changing as the internet allows and enhances the on demand style viewing that people are now so familiar with. Today there is no waiting for a programme to be shown or having to record it or face missing it, you can go online, find what you want to watch within seconds and be watching it instantly. Another reason for watching TV and films online is that there is such a wide choice and thanks to wider international reaches you can view programmes from all over the world at the click of a mouse. Watching TV online is also private with people creating their own viewing lists and enjoying them at their leisure. So how does the breakdown of what people are watching shape up?

As these percentages show, the most popular things to view online are: sitcoms, TV series, movies and music TV. This shows that people want to follow their personal choice online and go for things that they can’t always access on catch up TV.
What’s on the net?
What’s on TV?
(popular shows watchable online only) (popular shows usually watched on TV only) The kind of popular shows that are watched online only tend to be those that started off life on YouTube and so on. Kids TV programmes like Fred - The Show began on YouTube and has now made the jump to TV. Shows that are and have been popular and only shown online are webcasts or webisodes and include: Monster High, The Nostalgia Critic, Salad Fingers, Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy, Shutdown, various WWE shows, MySpace Road Tour and Nerd TV to name a few.
The news, sports and soaps tend to be mainly watched on TV and this is probably due to the fact that they are pretty much time sensitive. You have to watch them within a certain period or they become pretty insignificant - you wouldn’t want to watch old episodes of the news over and over like you would watch episodes from a TV series would you?
TV fights back
Apple TV and Google TV are another two services to look out for with Apple TV providing content from YouTube, iTunes, Netflix and more on your TV at home and Google TV showing Youtube videos, Google Play and content from Chrome via your TV.
In order to gain more viewers TV is getting smart and fighting back with such things as smart TV with internet integration. A good example of this is Samsung’s Smart TV which has 3D enabled for 3D channels and movies. This TV is packed full of on demand style features which brings it more in line with the way that people want to watch TV today. Sky has also moved into the age of the internet and is now offering Sky Go to viewers without a subscription. With this you can watch a wide range of Sky programmes and more on your PC or device and you don’t have to sign a contract to do this. Providing this service is a wise move for Sky as they are bringing their brand to new customers by giving them the freedom to watch Sky Go on the move.
Is TV dying? While terrestrial TV is certainly taking a battering TV itself is moving with the times. With new TVs that you can integrate with the internet being seen in homes across the country TV isn’t dying, it’s just evolving.

Finding the Spirit Within by Linda Williamson

£5.49
The astonishing success of Google was a black swan; so was 9/11. For Nassim Taleb, black swans underlie almost everything about our world, from the rise of religions to events in our own personal lives. This book begs the question; why do we not acknowledge the phenomenon of black swans until after they occur? We restrict our thinking to the irrelevant, while large events continue to surprise us and shape our world. Available on Adobe EPUB and Kindle.

Radhika's Story by Joanna Lumley & Sharon Hendry
Tales from Facebook explores the ways in which people use Facebook in their everyday lives. This book demonstrates that it can be profound; the tales within reveal how Facebook can become the means by which people find and cultivate relationships, but can also be instrumental in breaking up those relationships.
What should be a relaxing vacation turns into a working time-travel adventure when Teressa Ellers - a pragmatic and gifted relationship coach - is swept back to 13th century. He’s a handsome rogue warrior; unrelentingly charming, naturally old-fashioned, and completely unaware of her origins. She’s an independent 21st century woman; witty, practical, thoroughly modern, and determined to return home. Available on Kindle for PC, Kindle reader, and Adobe PDF.
A seemingly innocent sip of Coca-Cola, drunk by a starving and desperately thirsty 16-year-old girl, led to the first of Radhika Phuyal’s human trafficking experiences. Drugged, Radhika woke up hours later, in great pain, only to discover that her kidney had been removed and sold to the highest bidder. Journalist Sharon Hendry tells Radhika’s horrifying but incredibly inspiring story. An incredible story of triumph over evil in the modern world.

Born to Run by Chris McDoughall
The Six-Figure Second Income -
Karin Slaughter’s new novel is an epic tale of love, loyalty, and murder that encompasses forty years, two chillingly similar murder cases, and a good man’s deepest secrets. A successful combination of characters from her two crime series, it seamlessly shifts between past and present.
At the heart of Born to Run lies a mysterious tribe of Mexican Indians, the Tarahumara, who live quietly in canyons and are reputed to be the best distance runners in the world; in 1993, one of them, aged 57, came first in a prestigious 100-mile race. This is The Hidden Tribe, the Ultra-Runners, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen.
The Six-Figure Second Income explains how to start or grow a business even when you think you have plenty of strikes against you. In the course of building an eight-figure real estate information marketing business David Lindahl and Jonathan Rozek tested dozens of tools and techniques. They share these with readers in realistic proven methods for building an online income stream. Available on Kindle Fire, Apple or Android device, Nook, and other platforms.

What’s the big deal?
Amazon, not content with its global internet stature, has now got into the online deals market. Amazon Local is similar to the Groupon local deals we have all become familiar with to a large extent. You get discount deals on products and services straight from your Amazon Local. These are the usual discounted activity experiences, popular online products, and training or tuition packages discounted by participating businesses. When it comes to the issue of market saturation, there are never too many players as far as digital discount coupons are concerned. One thing services like the Amazon local and Groupon have done is make us much more used to online transactions. Those who where skeptical and perhaps over cautious about getting their credit cards out over the internet have found they are being left behind and have deprived themselves of really great bargains. Shopping online over the past three years has quadrupled. To the extent of sharing bargains in social networks becoming a common reason to log on and fish for what’s online.
The Amazon harvest Amazon local is designed to extend these deals to existing customers, you get deals tailored to your preferences and the service uses customer payment details already stored on Amazon.co.uk’s main site. How tailored this really is remains to be seen. Amazon Local started off in the US last year reaching 32 states and seems to be working fine there. Amazon has a $175 million stake in livingsocial.com so we may have a filtering of deals from there. The idea being to compete against Groupon by the sheer number of deals available. As far as the London end goes it’s a very slow start, it may take a while before this becomes UK wide. Amazon may be described as greedy grabbers by some, especially as they have a mandate to win all your purchase options under one roof. Master

card customers on the Amazon websites can collect loyalty points but would need to redeem the credits at two points per £1 spent with a purchase on erm, the Amazon websites. Just thought about this one –wouldn’t it be great if the mighty Amazon offers us a Kindle Fire at a 30% discount or a Kindle at 50% discount on their very own Amazon Local - surely that would help get things going if they are finding it hard to get discount deals from local businesses…just a thought.
Any good? We liked the Personalised Deals page where you can quickly add your choice of buying interest, and help Amazon gather as much info about you as your online patience will allow. It’s probably worth it if they take their time to filter the right deals as promised. It takes a day for your preferences to be applied to your emailed deals .But the idea is sound. It does seriously need filling up, I could find only 20 deals for my postcode allocation. Some are repeated to other London postcodes. Out of the 20, I could find only three that I would call a great deal. The rest look like your strategic price mark-up where original prices are hiked significantly and then adjusted with the special deal price to make a deal look more like a big deal. I think I’d be visiting in about 5 months time maybe then, more businesses would get used to extending their deals beyond Groupon.
What’s the big deal?
Rakuten Group, Japan’s largest ecommerce company by sales, has brought its “online shopping mall” model to the UK after acquiring Play.com, the 13-year-old online retailer. Play.com, before its purchase by Rakuten, have done well to present themselves as a worthy competitor in the new and used market, closely resembling Amazon in item sales and even layout. They have also decided to get into the discount game with the introduction of Play.com Deal.
are interested in. They fare well in regards to product range and price when it comes to DVDs, games, CDs and books. Fashion and gadgets are not exactly stacked with great deals.
Any good?
Unlike Groupon or living Social.com there discount codes or vouchers are not high on the agenda as such, instead, Play.com have introduced daily deals and Super points. Using daily deals does prove handy on random deals as you get these emailed to you based on your buying activity or at least what you choose to view whilst on the website. Play. com tends to have snippets of the deals showcased on other savings websites such as Moneyexpert.com and Vouchercodes.co.uk. With Super points you earn one Super Point for every £1 spent. One Super Point is then worth 1p to spend on products across the website.
Super Points become active 14 days after we receive payment for the item that you ordered. Prior to this date, Super Points can be seen as pending or provisional in your account, in our view that’s to slow in internet time.
And some more deals?
The number of complaints for goods not arriving is rising each month, which is a bit of a shame as Play.com started really well.
Warehouse clearance - nice choice of words to get the avid saver’s attention. Not sure how it works as an exclusive, seeing we ordered a DVD - About A Boy. It was going for £2.98 with free shipping, but checking the next day ignoring the warehouse clearance link we where able to order it for the same deal.
Play.com customer reviews suggests a split in good or bad service. The issues seem to be the condition of goods sent and the slow response to rectifying the problem. It’s hit or miss to a certain extent. You have a 90% chance of getting all you ordered in a space of 5 purchases.
The free delivery is quite a bug incentive especially when your intention is a single unit purchase.
It seems that the Warehouse clearance deal is integrated as a general listing and not a hoard of products selected for lower prices. A detailed look into the product pricing, and its clear that the Warehouse Clearance is not so special. Free postage is quite a nice incentive to the buyer though. With Play.com it all depends on what product category you

pulse - Courtesy: PulsePad This is an iPhone and iPad App which is essentially an RSS reader. It takes those boring RSS content update lists and visualizes them as images with the aid of thumbnails in grids. This makes it extremely user friendly and versatile. That reason alone makes this App highly appealing. Tap the thumbnail and the story will open. You can synch this App with social media sites and Google Reader too. Some users may prefer news to be presented to them as-is, but with Pulse you can choose how to layout the news you’re interested in. Reviews indicate that the App is sometimes slow to load, but as an alternative to news prepared for you and set down at the dining table, why not go into the kitchen and prepare your own?

Skype Prime Learn, advise or teach online S
by Andy Hargreaves
kype Prime is one of Skype’s revenue generating services. It has been around since March 2007. It faltered a bit due to a few pricing factors amongst other things but it still provides a safe environment for those seeking help, and those that offer it. It is a good and convenient way to sell or buy training or advice through audio and/or video. Buying advice or training online is not a new thing. Consultants, counsellors and tutors have been doing this on their own platforms with the sale of hourly slots with their own media communication options which would typically be a VOIP platform - usually Skype anyway.
It works well for both the seller and the buyer. There is a system for you to look at various provider profiles and their rating or feedback score. Just wander through the various categories to find what you need. It’s also global so language is not an issue. Very much like the freelancer web portals where anyone anywhere can ply their trade remotely. The difference being that the service is delivered on a one-to-one premise. With video conferencing becoming much more of an activity we are use to these days, Skype prime has become a great way to get advice or solve a problem communicating with an expert.
The big wigs at Skype have been musing over the idea that there are so many service providers using their system to make some money and figured it was time to step in. The only way to do that was to offer a controlled community of users and sellers and make the access and payment method much more convenient. They have done this by integrating a premium payment system which can be set at the provider’s rate and charged to the client through the purchase of Skype credit. 30% of the proceeds goes to Skype. What you get is a huge list of various voice and video delivered service, anything from advice about psychic readings to tutor sessions as supplementary learning in preparation for any sort of exam. You can also choose to be charged by the minute or at a fixed rate per session, this depends on what the provider has set.
What’s on Skype prime The idea of advice by video and sound is just a great offshoot of the internet. It is quite possible to get a full education through Skype sessions. Same thing as being in a classroom with less distractions. You can waste the tutor or advisors time with as many silly questions as you can think of, the person at the other end would be happy to oblige at your own pace as long as the premium rate minutes continue ticking. Invite a friend who may also benefit from the lessons or advice. It’s a mix of different providers mainly for tutoring or advice. Individual needs see a variation of usage - Computer and Internet (35%), Business and Personal finance (13%), Relationship advice and counselling (9%), Tutoring and Homework (9%), Language lessons and Translations (5%), Spiritual and Astrology (4%) and Other (24%). And then there’s the quirky or weird services such as the adult ones and others quite funny but they all do get people subscribing to them, like a 10 minute session on how to deal with office politics and guidance on how to get out of a lousy relationship.
22
Getting started You would need a PC/Mac or an internet enabled mobile device to get started. Download the program and register your details. You can locate a service that fits what kind of one-to-one service you need. You will get a free intro call option and a payment prompt should you wish to proceed. You get the option to pay by the minute or if the provider has included the fixed fee option you can gain access this way.40% of the contractors opt to have both options.
Doing this on the iPad’s latest two is quite a good experience with clear and sharp video or screen share images efficiently laid out. Drop out interruptions and low audio can be adjusted with the mic and speaker tests, usually you would get a decent communication link.
Verdict Ether only charges 15% compared to Skype’s 30% to the contractor, their mark-up added may force them to have higher charges per minute. Skype benefits from a higher provider number than most other competitive options so you are bound to find more unique or unusual providers in the list.
You buy your premium minutes as Skype credits which can be bought through the PayPal gateway. You would need a competent webcam and decent broadband or wifi connection to get the full benefit of a session. Skype cleverly markets its gear as the recommended tool for this.
The service could be improved with more features to test provider skills and not just a list of reviews, a sort of upload verification for certificates is a start, or some sort of live test that can score the provider around their claimed skills set. Cause for specialist skilled contractors to moan about the maximum price setting being too low, and minimum price setting not being low enough for users in developing countries.

Whereas ‘Warning’ was the band trying out a more acoustic led introverted approach, ‘American Idiot’ is a return to the Green Day sound of the early ‘90s - fast, vitriolic punk rock.
A greatest hits collection that showcases superstar singersongwriter Christina Aguilera’s rise from bubblegum pop princess to five-time Grammy Award-winning soprano.
A special edition of The Verve’s popular album consisting of a CD and DVD book.
The Foo Fighters have compiled their greatest hits onto this stylish-looking album which also includes a DVD.

Life Live Active is a blog that focuses more on the serious aspects of getting fit and improving your health. If you’re like me the thought of too much information gets you clicking to the next page take a minute to read this blog. It’s actually really interesting and can give you the kick up the rear you need to get in shape.
Has detailed information on health, wellbeing, fitness, diet, pregnancy and more. The website offers information in a serious but light-hearted way that isn’t patronising.
DIY tips & tricks DIY is an area that a lot of women (myself included) get a bit worried about because it all seems really over complex. With these DIY tips and tricks you’ll see that this isn’t always the case. Let’s get stuck in and give the men a run for their money.

Kitchen revamp
Expert painter
Lampshade designer
If you want to de-clutter your home and let’s face it most of us could do with that especially on the run up to Christmas these tips are excellent. The tips here are easy to follow and will help you to get rid of all those things that you keep meaning to throw away but never get round to. Read these and you will have the nudge you need to get your house in order, or you will after you’ve had a coffee and a biscuit! I’ll be scoring this 3 out of 5 as it’s a pleasant enough read and will probably encourage you to de-clutter.
Are you sick of looking at the same colour on your walls? Do you want to makeover your bedroom or living room but daren’t tackle wallpapering? How about you read this guide on how to paint a room? It’s got everything you need to know about painting such as: which brushes to choose for the job, techniques to use when painting (yes there really is a difference in how you paint different areas), prepping your room before you paint it and painting doors, trims and skirting boards. I’d give this guide 5 out of 5 as it gives you detailed information without being boring and the instructions are easy to follow even if you are terrible at DIY.
When you’re planning on revamping your kitchen you need to read these 10 Mistakes in Kitchen Design to avoid any expensive mistakes. Some of these are pretty obvious - like watching your budget when planning but some of them are really useful to have in mind like choosing the right type of island (if you want one) and avoiding being too trendy. Reading this will also give you an insight into actually trying your hand at planning out your kitchen yourself instead of turning the job over to expensive kitchen designers.
If you are looking for a project that will keep you occupied for a couple of hours try out these instructions for a Decoupaged Lampshade. This is ideal if you want to make an old lamp look more interesting or if you want to buy cheap lamps and decorate them to fit in with your style. The instructions are really clear and don’t panic over what ‘Modge Podge’ is - it’s a type of glue that can be found in craft shops and online. If you don’t want the shade to be darker don’t use the shoe polish to create effect, just leave the decoupage as it is and it will look great. In fact this is a good way to make character lampshades for kids at a fraction of the price that they sell in shops. This little project gets a 4 out of 5 as it’s so easy, it loses a mark as it might not be everyone’s taste.

kids & crafts When you have kids who are old enough to go online, and this is getting younger all the time, you’ll probably be worried about who they are talking to and what they are viewing. You’ll also want to make sure that at least some of the time your kids are doing something educational, so here are some sites that you can check out to help them to stay safe, have fun and learn at the same time.
Thinkuknow.co.uk
playkidsgames.com
Cakejournal.com
Lulucardmaking.blogspot.co.uk
Think you know has plenty of practical information about keeping your kids safe online. The information on it was created for the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre so you know you can trust its source. There are even sections within the site for kids of various age groups which is good if you have a 14 year old know it all. It’s detailed and not cluttered and certainly works well as it has information that even the biggest technophobe can understand and it’s not patronising for kids either.
Cake Journal is a fun and great idea for a blog that is for anyone who wants to get into cake decoration. It covers all areas of cake decoration and includes recipes for royal icing, fondant, sugar paste and more. Be warned though you have to have quite a bit of patience for some of these ideas, but they look stunning and will taste great too. This gets in the list of good websites for crafts purely because some of the projects are a bit ambitious for beginners, but it does give you the inspiration to try out some of the stunning ideas.

EA Entertainment has done well with the Sims franchise since its inception. SimsCity Social is the latest instalment and does quite well as an adapted social gaming package. If you enjoy God games, then SimsCity Social is the daddy of them all. Now you can play it on Facebook for free. It’s the social gaming version as a free adaptation to the PC game. Get your mates and family to join in as you control lives build or even end them. Sims has become a cult game throughout the years and sense of addiction it spreads doesn’t only affect girls but boys as well. Making progress on basis of everyday life of average family can become more complicated, appealing, interesting, and challenging than it seems at the first sight. This game nails it into the details when it comes to the story game is all about. Forget about the simulation games where you set things and leave them for hours to progress while you are having lunch or drinking coffee outside. Sims will pin you down in front of your PC and soon enough you find yourself trying to make your Sims fall in love, find a job or
enhance the comfort of their home. How exciting it sounds to control the life of a family on a daily basis - while trying to make them as successful as possible - along all the daily routines and real life challenges? Just like with the vast majority of other simulation games, don’t expect Sims graphics to knock you off-the-chair. Though there have been great improvements, it ain’t no Call Of Duty. Graphics are based on combinations of 2D and 3D graphics engines but the nature of game play means it is to be expected. The latest editions of Sims emphasize socialization and supernatural thematic. If you played older versions of Sims and wondered what’s around the corner now you will be able to get there and check it out. If you are a fan of strategic games based on modern, daily activities of average family then Sims is a must-try.

Some of the best things in life are free, and Team Fortress is one of them. A quirky shoot-em-up that’s brilliantly put together and plays well online a free gift from Valve with a huge playing community. If you’re a fan of first person shooter games, then you have most likely heard of Team Fortress 2 or at least its predecessor Team Fortress Classic. Team Fortress 2. The game carries some distinctive features of the game-developing corporation - Valve. It’s freaky, super-fast and has a hoard of quirky weaponry. There’s plenty of gore and body parts scattered around after an encounter with the enemy. The game is a sort of mix between Half Life 2 and Unreal Tournament. Unlike many other first person shooter games, where you either confront all the other players on the battleground or advance together as a team, in Team Fortress 2 your progress depends directly on the performance of your team; it is therefore in your best interest that your team is on point. The game concept runs around 9 classes: Spy, Pyro, Soldier, Heavy, Medic, Sniper, Demoman, Scout and Engineer, where each class has its own
strengths and weaknesses, attack styles, and finely defined role to be performed within a team. Each team possesses one or few out of each class, where each class is in charge of one particular role (for example Engineer class guards structures, Medics are there to take care of your team’s casualties, etc.) Compared to far more enhanced games such as Call of Duty or Medal of Honor, Team Fortress 2 has respectable graphics and robust in-game sounds. We loved the humor style of artwork with overly exaggerated biceps and stick-thin characters to choose from. The voice-overs are hilarious and it’s a beauty to see on your screen. The best pro of this game is the cost - you can get it for free. It’s an open source FPS game which appears to be really popular worldwide. The fact that you need to be pretty much a professional player to stay alive once in-game is not appealing to hear, however, with a little bit of gameplay you should know the drill soon enough. The tutorial to help you start as a newbie is quite good and you can get some player assistance as you choose maps for beginners. Your computer would have to be a decent package though as downloading the game can take a decade.

Need for Speed World is one of the free-to-play MMO games that’s ranked pretty high on the online gaming list. it has earned some new fans among the online racing fraternity and seems to be a massive overall improvement over the original version. It’s now almost console-game standard. Just like all the other versions of Need for Speed series, NFS World is about car racing, driving, and assembling your custom four-wheeled-pet or anything that has to do with spending time on the road. There is one slight difference between this and the other games launched by EA Entertainment. Need for Speed World is available free of charge - well, at least it is to some point. If you don’t care about getting your car supped-up or buying that gleaming Ferrari, then yes, it’s free. The graphics are quite impressive for a free online MMO. Sounds and game interface have completely topped expectations. Graphics and AI are almost on equal par with the priced console games in the same genre. Engines react the way they should while you put your car through the motions. User interface maybe a bit too busy for some. Too
many additional functions that apply to your car and some rules to getting the extras to aid performance. They really want you to buy extras in this game. The online platform is well developed and popular. You can enjoy playing NFS World together with your friends and the rest of the Earth. You will find four different game modes to try out. First two, Sprints and Circuits, are about racing, as you could have imagined. The only difference is “Sprints” mode implies race from one to another point, while “Circuits” is good old lap racing. Exploration mode is recommended to those who are to lay their hands on a steering-wheel for the very first time. This mode will get you familiar with commands, car abilities and the area you can drive through. Pursuit is all about escape and losing cops off your tail. Yes the game is free, but not completely. You can enjoy playing until level 10 completely free of charge. If you are eager to have a peek inside level 11, you need to pay $20. Honestly, nothing extraordinary or different waits above level 10. If you are a fan of car wheeling games - Need for Speed World is strongly recommended.

Stock trading for yourself is gaining popularity as a growing number of non-professionals are beginning to get the fundamental idea of how the market works. It still requires skill and detailed knowledge as there are so many factors involved. How about playing the market for fun while gaining some skill? A real-time stock market simulator for a game is a great idea. It’s as close as you can get to the real thing and it’s a great way to see how the stock market really works. There is no danger of losing money and it’s easy to pick up the addictive bug in a safe betting environment. Just like the real thing, you begin to apply logic and new-found knowledge knowing when to buy or sell stocks and anticipating certain factors that usually affect the movement of the market. Hot Shot Trader is a social game that offers the experience of control and financial chess. Moving money-making stocks about at your fingertips in real-time is pretty neat especially when it’s all fantasy and you’re not giving yourself a hernia in the process. It’s also a good thing being an integrated App on Facebook as you can see shared exploits and interact with others who have been playing the game on Facebook too. It’s also a good way to learn about how healthy investment should be and what are the proper etiquettes
in the business world are. Fancy yourself as an evil Michael Greco from the block buster Wall Street - well you can become a bull within the games community and cause disruption as you please. We liked the idea of being able to share your exploits with friends and inviting them to get stuck in. To get started, you can predict the price of a company, currency or commodity. The players with the closest predictions will finish in a winning position, or you can predict against an opponent to see if the price of a symbol will be higher or lower than a certain price. There are not many rules to playing this game, basically it’s like a DIY stock building and trading scenario without the real financial risks. You can go to the tutorial section if you’re a total beginner. Next thing to do is to start with good observation, brave decision and a pinch of good luck and you should be able to train your stock trading instinct through practice with this game. A minor negative point from this game might be boredom for some; for absolute beginners the static world of stock trading might make players feel bored in just a short while. If you enjoy shoot-em-ups or racing games where the adrenaline is on a constant high, the stock trading game may not float your boat, but if you enjoy the illusion of serious money shuffled around at your whim, it’s a perfect game. Playable on your mobile phone, tablet or desk top.

Let him have it
Airport 77
A true example of when movies had to be intelligently scripted to make up for the lack of a huge Hollywood budget. It’s a 70’s remake of the 1931 classic ‘his girl Friday’. A great performance from the Walter Matthau/ Jack Lemon partnership. The film is one of great satire taking a swipe at local politicians and the so -called honesty of the press fraternity. Great comedy set mostly in the press room covering the hanging of a somewhat innocent man. http://bit.ly/AcfqDs
The true story of the demise of the Bentley brothers, which points an accusing finger at British justice in the 50s. Played by Tom Courtenay and Christopher Eccleston. It’s an account of how one incident moved British belief in capital punishment into steady extinction. The words ‘let him have it’ becoming a main issue of debate and argument as that was what the police at the time used as leverage to commit the suspects to the gallows. It’s a thought provoking film and one to see again. http://bit.ly/lpiS28
70s were the years of disaster movies if it wasn’t buildings on fire, then it would be earthquakes or giant killer beasts. But the doomed jet - liner with the gutsy pilot were the movies that stuck out then. Airport 77 stars a more serious Jack Lemon as the obligatory hero pilot with the task of saving passengers trapped in a 747 at the bottom of the ocean. Yes! The story is completely impossible, but it worked well as a movie. Add George Kennedy and the setting for a disaster movie is complete. http://bit.ly/4pQe3o
Ice Station Zebra
Love story
Glengarry Glen Ross
An old time favourite from one of Alistair McLean’s books. Back in 1968 it’s the old Soviets versus the west, set in an isolated Arctic research encampment - Ice Station Zebra. There’s lots of suspicion and twists with underlying agendas amongst the various factions. It’s a chilling movie beset with lots of races against the clock and disastrous consequences.
A tear jerker and romantic favourite to make the hardest viewer shed a tear or two. This one’s the flag bearer of all fluffy films. It stars a young Ryan ‘O’ Neal and Andy Mc Graw which was a perfect choice in casting. It’s funny, sad, and cosy. Posh Ivy League chap and the studious and witty girl do the campus romance thing with great acclaim. It’s certainly one of the greats from the 1970s.
Imagine a movie set in a dreary real estate office that manages to deliver such a clever insight into men struggling to make a living through lies and deceit. It’s got the cream of actors giving a great performance worthy of Mamet’s play that deservedly won the Pulitzer and a number of Oscar nominations. Jack Lemon’s portrayal as a man in the dumps is legendary, and Al Pacino gives us a taster of his signature speech. No guns and no screeching tyres here, but it’s a classic. This one would have to do with 5 stars as we don’t go up to 6.

American Me
Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker
They Live
One of the most fearsome gang related films of the 90s. It’s Edward J Olmo’s directing debut that put him on the map. It’s all about leadership behind a notorious prison life, and the challenges of reform outside of jail. Street gang leader Santana lives a disturbing life of survival and power play much like the mafia style family conflict. It’s a no-holds-barred affair with undeterred violence.
Picture quality on posted flick is pretty awful (typical 80’s post on Youtube) but still quite an enjoyable experience. It’s a horror film with an intelligent script. Gruesome and spine chilling with mind-numbing twists explains why it was initially banned in the UK. The film focuses on the strange relationship existing between nephew and aunt once his parents die in a car accident. It’s less gore but much more disturbing intrigue.
One of John Carpenter's gifts from the 80’s - This movie probably inspired ‘V’ the movie - It’s scary days as alien big wigs operate amidst everyday life to develop the Earth as their alternative colony. Wrestling star Roddy Piper puts in a surprisingly good show as the chap that sees it all and attempts to put a spanner in the works.

Soylent Green
No! Not the silly one with The Rock in it. This one’s the original and much better one from1973. It’s based on the true story of Sheriff Buford Pusser who went through great costs to himself and family to clean up a small town from corruption and lawlessness. This flick is probably responsible for the idea of a baseball bat becoming more useful as a weapon than a sports implement.
A great flick from the 90s about true life experiences of poet Jimmy Santiago Baca, the film is set in the early 70’s when the Latina East L.A gangs began a reign of violence and terror. Lots of jail time hierarchy and survival, and it’s filled with three main characters with a different focus in life - a cop, a gangster and an addicted artist, all muddled up in the inner city decay.
We do love those surreal 70’s post apocalyptic flicks. This is one of the greats from Charlton Heston. It’s the year 2022 and New York City like other urban areas in decay, struggles with a population of 40 million citizens. It’s a world of complete economic shutdown where a pot of jam is like gold bullion. Genetically modified food - Soylent Green introduced by the government has some questionable secrets that only reveals the extent of the bleak future ahead.

The Internet Tour Guide John Audrey The age of the internet has become a boom for entrepreneurs and has created hundreds of jobs for people in the field of digital marketing together with SEO strategists, executives and gurus. But Sally McCarthy from West London and Paris carved out a more obscure career path for herself - an “Internet Tour Guide.”
S
ally created VIRTours two years ago and has taken the travel industry by storm. Imagine a travel guide that gives you a window to the world, a virtual walk around the city which is brutally honest about where to go and the tourist traps to avoid. It’s this philosophy that travellers would mostly buy into.
“The beauty of guided internet tours,” Sally says, “is that it allows your customers to visit a city virtually before they decide whether they actually want to visit physically.” It makes perfect sense. The annual holiday is no longer a luxury to most people and for some is by no means a certainty. “People are more reluctant to spend their cash on something if they do not know what they are getting,” Sally says. “VIRTours gives holidaymakers the chance to create a genuine desire they won’t be disappointed with once they are there.
showcasing your virtual tours you not only accrue an income, but an interest in your services. Thanks to the wizardry of mobile technology smartphone users can access the internet on the go and will use your website when they are at the destination. But it can even be used by holidaymakers that have not previously booked a VIRTtour package. Therefore give all travellers a good reason to visit. When people are in a city they are not familiar with they rely heavily on information from travel guides and the internet has multiple sources relating to travel destinations from where you can source ideas and information. Magazines will often write about the top ten things to do in a city, together with certain types of restaurants, bars, clubs and cafes. You will even find a list of the top ten pizza places in most major cities.
People want valid information, so take advantage of the material at your fingertips to pool your resources users can easily tap into. The more people return to your site and explore it, the better your website will rank in search engines and thus attract even more customers with the potential for more sales. Now Sally has sufficient information covering 30 of the world’s most popular cities she has even packaged information into themed Apps that can be directly downloaded to mobile phones.
The virtual tour guide also presents benefits in its versatility. Literally any tour can be devised for any city in the world. Take London for example. You may have somebody who is interested in art galleries and affordable Italian restaurants. Another client may want to know where they can catch the best up and coming bands in London’s thriving live music scene. The opportunities for tour ideas are endless. The advent of 3D maps will also make the experience feel more real. You also have several ways of making money from your website. A Google Adsense account will make you a reasonable second income from adverts placed on your sites, and with a YouTube account

The Online Business Club Wally Baines What Jenny knew from the beginning was that, people are more likely to do business with those they know and trust. She recognized the fact that as long as there is commerce and enterprise, the importance of social connectivity will always be relevant.
S
o, despite all odds, she went ahead to establish a business networking club named: PeopleHelpingPeople . Saving money where she would have had to have a database driven website built, she joined meetup.com and Citysocializing, there she formed a group called the SW London Networkers group, and got the ball rolling by inviting members that ran a business and resided in the catchment area. Her main objective was to provide a structured environment for small and medium business owners, and even professionals alike to get to know, interact and relate with each other. The key was using the internet to reach local businesses quicker. The first thing she did was to appoint a volunteered, management team among her friends and former colleagues. These like-minded members of the club, together with herself, held series of meetings and each were allocated different positions and responsibilities. This initial thinktank was the first recruiting and organizing team. She gave them her objectives and handed them the formats of each meetings. The first meeting was held in her garden and it had 25 local business people in attendance, realtors, pop and mom store owners, coffee shops managers, etc. During the meeting she again reiterated the objectives of the club and listed the benefits of being a member. She handed everyone a free copy of a clearly written club handbook. In the handbook, various important features and guiding rules of the club were listed, for example:
Membership The club is opened to all business people around her local area. Though there will be no recurring monthly dues, the initiation fee will be £150. Guests are welcome to attend twice before making decision of whether to join or not. Any guest that decides to join on the first day will be entitled to a £30 off the normal membership registration fee. Using yell.co.uk and another local business listing website she was able to draw up a list of target businesses and gradually introduce the idea of networking off line.
Power Meetings She made it known that every quarter; the club will be organizing powerful breakfast meetings for members and non-members. Members will be made to pay a fully discounted fee of £250 while non-members will pay £500. During these meetings, well known resource persons, business consultants, Tax specialities, etc would be brought to spend 8 solid hours with the people. Sharing and teaching heavy-duty, practical information. In cases where physical meets where not conducive for some members she set up a live webinar and a group network meeting online using Camfrog. This worked well as Camfrog is a great tool for doing video conferencing with a much higher number of people. Skype was the other option. These sessions involved at least 8-10 member sessions a time.
By next meeting, PeopleHelpingPeople experienced the first major influx. Words and publicity had grown so rapidly that Jenny’s little garden could barely accommodate people. On that day, 35 people became full paying members, and a new more expansive physical venue was fixed. The club experienced a steady growth rate, with an average 30 new registrants per month. However, with the growth came also increased overhead cost of running the club. She earmarked £2500 for monthly expenses like souvenirs; hall rent age, maintenance, stationary, office supplies, club secretary etc.
Within three months, the club’s income had grown to £25,000 and already was in full preparation to organize the maiden edition of the quarterly Power meetings. Extra £1000 was spent on adverts/fliers and £5000 was budgeted as honorarium for invited experts. Tickets to the breakfast meeting got sold out within a week to the program as people from neighbouring towns flooded the venue. That day, Jenny made a cool profit of £38,000 (minus the initial £7000 spent on organization and preparation). After the success of the online Power Breakfast meeting, she started planning towards establishing the club in every other major neighbouring towns and cities. The efforts began to yield instant results as people that attended the previous retreat shared their experiences and began to hold their own chapter meetings in their localities, with Jenny supervising and monitoring their activities.
