Down and dirty drag
Racing Team and Pandemonium Performance would love to, first thing, show some love to all our special advocates, backers, and promoters out there. Your support means a great deal to all of us involved.
Little Dave Herndon:
Every team needs a heartbeat to keep the energy circulating, and Down and Dirty has a strong one in main pilot, David Herndon. Little Dave raced with Down and Dirty Drag Racing out of Easy Eddie’s Motorcycle Shop in Huntersville, NC. Growth and good times were going down at the strip, and we all know how this life can go - sometimes, just the moment the plan-once-dreamed starts to finally take shape in the present, an instant in time and choices of others create a different journey than what was planned, and even though the heartbeat skips for a minute, it is just gathering strength for round two, a new path. Little Dave was involved in a horrific accident caused by a texting driver; this tragedy left him in pretty bad shape for quite a while but most certainly not devoid of heart nor spirit. After a three-year recuperation, the heartbeat was back to thumpin’ strong, and the two-wheeled shenanigans once again commenced. Agreeing to return to the strip, Down and Dirty Drag Racing partnered with Pandemonium Performance Custom Cycles. Tired of all the speeding-tickets-as-trophies, the newly revamped drag team took a good dose of pure pandemonium from the street to the strip. It was not long and, your Down and Dirty Drag Racing Team was ready with fresh blood, fresh oil, and a fresh perspective - ready to rock and roll down the quarter mile of chaos and speed.
Pandemonium Performance:
Steeped in speed, Kary Blaylock and his crew at Pandemonium Performance churn out powerhouse machines on a weekly basis for clients who like to get to the good times quick and in a hurry like. With more than fifteen years’ experience behind the wrenches and specialty tools, Kary brings a certain wise spice to the cycle lift. His hand-selected and personallytrained crew has been educated and cultured within the strictest Harley-Davidson-specific standards and nothing less will fly. With the combined thrust of wisdom through experience, cutting-edge technology, and tried-and-true secrets wielded to crank out larger than life power, the collective knowledge at Pandemonium Performance brings the fuel straight to the fire.
Collaborating with Kary Blaylock and the Pandemonium Performance crew, this reincarnation of the Down and Dirty Drag team, much like drag racing itself, was born on America’s local backroads; there is big world power with the hometown feel, and Little Dave and company pack that trailer with love for home and family every trip to the strip – their spirits grateful for life, each other, and the sweetness of speed.
After much abstracting, the team formulated and fabricated three top-notch performers; three absolute, shoot-em-up, cowboy outlaws have been built to give the competition a little something to contend with:
The Magic
Purple Rain: 1998 1200 S Sportster dripping with speed, rolling with Harley thunder and H.P. just a hair above a feather
Up in Smoke: 2009 Fat Bob oozing rip-roaring power boasting H.P. Out of this world
The Beast: 2006 Ultra Classic exudes excellence and Ungodly H.P
First Season Blues
Thanks to the archnemesis (He-Who-Must-Not-BeNamed…yeah right…), COVID19, and the pitfalls of 2020, the season of the AMRA sanction was cut abruptly short. The Down and Dirty Drag Team finished out nicely on race one, Daytona, which was, unfortunately, the only race. Rider, Little Dave Herndon finished second place over-all in the Bagger Class - an extraordinarily strong start to a much-too-short season. The team has used this one-run preview as a glimpse into the possibilities, and the future looks blinding-speed bright. The gears of the mind and the wrenches of the shop are probably turning as you read these words. Speed is in the veins, and it never sleeps.
Support:
The privilege of creating and running the team to victory could not be possible without the backing of some local businesses around these parts. Big shout out to Koyote Ugly bar and music venue of Salisbury, North Carolina for the stellar promotions as well as Lexington Tire and Automotive and the major support shown from the guys and gals over at the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Special thanks to the guys out at CNS Swingarms, too.
With the roots deep and still producing with gusto, we would love to see the local tracks, and drag racing in general, rock and roll itself back to the way it was when it all began in the 50’s; a huge draw and regular beat for good ole boys and gals to have a rip-roarin’ time on a Friday night, right in the middle of the fastest lane - where chaos meets the strip.
