Hand Built, American Made, Custom Parts The Rebel Spirit
By: Lincoln
Way back in 2018, I had a need
for a local welder to help me with an idea that I had for a mobile burnout pit. No sooner than the rough idea for the pit came into my head, I had a chance encounter with Kristin Shipwash, the MFCEO of The Rebel Spirit at an event in Salisbury. We had met briefly before and I had been told that her husband was a welder. I pitched her a thumbnail of what I was wanting to do, and she introduced me to her husband, Zach. I gave him a sketchy description of what I was looking for and he gave me a nod and said we could probably work something out. Within days, Zach came up with a plan for the burn out pit and the rest is history. The TRS / Full Rebel burnout pit has been seen at dozens of events including the Fear Of February Party, The Smokeout Rally, Camel City Bikefest and dozens of bike nights in between.
Zach is a pretty alright guy and our work and personal relationship has been on since then and he has built a handful custom trophies for us along the way. I had always admired his work at The Rebel Spirit, and I have been following his
company’s progress as they whip up custom handlebars, foot pegs, helmet bows, intakes and other cool ass parts for their growing customer base. So, I once again tossed out the idea that I wanted the raddest custom sissybar for my Dyna. I am a huge fan of 70’s style choppers and outlandish custom parts and that’s exactly what I had in mind. I wanted a tall, super chromed out sissybar to look awesome and help me strap more magazines to my bike, something out of the ordinary, something you can’t buy in a store or catalog, something unique to my bike. Zach came over to my office with a pad of paper and a pencil. It took us 45 minutes of jokes, stories and other conversation to get down to business, but we got a mutual understanding of what I was looking for and a custom hand drawing.
Shortly thereafter Zach had my dream sissybar mocked up for final approval. It was more than I expected. I couldn’t believe that he took my idea and made it a reality. Naturally we changed a couple things along the way, but the outcome was absolutely epic. After coming back from getting triple coated in beautiful chrome, Zach installed it on my bike, and it is my new favorite thing in the world-unless my wife is reading this, then she is still my favorite.
In the meantime, Zach has been whipping out custom motorcycle parts to customer specs and can totally make your dream part a reality, too.
