ermantown Academy Day Camp and Summer Programs in Fort Washington, have been offering campers in the Greater Philadelphia area opportunities to learn, play and grow for 48 years. With more than 50 thoughtfully programmed camps for children ages 3-16, GA continues to provide a safe and picturesque environment for campers to make lifelong memories and friendships. Flourtown Summer Day Camp celebrates 10 years

D
ating back to 2008, The Flourtown Summer Day Camp has been serving thousands of campers and their families from many surrounding communities. This year FSDC will enter its 10th season and will celebrate with many special events throughout the summer. With exceptional leadership and experienced counselors, the staff at Flourtown Summer Camp has been successful in giving children a positive experience set in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. With Safety and Supervision always stressed to the staff, the camp has provided children with lifelong memories while maintaining, teaching and nurturing core values to their campers through the daily activities in which they participate. FSDC is designed to provide a healthful and safe atmosphere where each camper can enjoy a wide variety of activities. Our goal is to instill the values of respect for others, honesty and good sportsmanship. The instructors direct the activities to promote fun and learning in a non-competitive atmosphere at a small ratio of five kids per counselor. A highly experienced staff -including local professional/certified educators, coaches (collegiate, high school, and youth), certified swim instructors and lifeguards, senior and junior counselors, specialty staff, and office personnel -has been at the core of FSDC. At the backbone of our programs in our instructional swimming program. On a daily basis, campers learn beginner’s strokes to advanced strokes to constantly improve their aquatic skills. Most importantly, parents can know that their child is becoming safer around water as their swimming skills improve day to day. The Flourtown Summer Day Camp follows a daily structured schedule (although flexible to address campers’ unique needs) with a variety of activities that allows campers to thrive in their environment and have expectations that the day camp is able to provide. FSDC believes that giving children well-rounded opportunities enlightens the spirit and creates a diverse culture that all children can enjoy and thrive in.
Some of the many activities include swimming, baseball, volleyball, lacrosse, music, culinary arts, field hockey, golf, arts & crafts, gaga ball, basketball, baseball, tennis and archery. Each week has a theme (Carnival Week, Philly Sports Week, Safari Week, etc.) that gives the children the opportunity to engage in special activities and events such as The Philadelphia Zoo On Wheels program, a hockey clinic with the Philadelphia Flyers legend Bob “The Hound” Kelly, Magician Sam Sandler, Science Explorers, Philadelphia Union Soccer Clinic and so on. There are off-campus age appropriate field trips for our campers such as bowling, Arnold’s Family Fun Center, a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game and more. The camp season culminates with our famous FSDC Talent Show and our closing ceremonies. Your child will forever remember his or her experience at the Flourtown Summer Day Camp, not only during their stay but for a lifetime as well!

enn Charter Summer Camps offer more choices than ever, with more than 30 camps this year. Because summer should be an opportunity to try something new – or to dive into something we already love – Penn Charter has added camps that explore science, creativity, Spanish immersion and sports broadcasting. New this year, sports broadcaster Joe DeCamara, current host on sports talk WIP 94.1, will run a camp to give kids and teens handson experience with play-by-play, hosting a talk show and conducting TV interviews. Salvemos el Medio Ambiente!, will explore environmental issues through science and Spanish immersion, and Viaja por America Latina delves into the rich cultures of Latin America through legends, songs, food and dance. The newest in PC’s series of science camps is Drone Camp, in which kids will use Syma XIIC drones to learn flight basics and then complete an obstacle course, high altitude, photo and safe-landing challenge. Check out Rocketry, Robotics, Science Maker and Science Camp, also. Campers will get to design, build, test and collaborate. And if your child likes to create and enjoys music, Musical Instrument Design and Creation Camp teaches how to build instruments with laser cutters and 3D printers to create ukuleles, djembe drums and flutes. Fashion and Machine Sewing Camp, taught by Handwork Studios, is terrific for the budding fashionista or crafty kid, exploring the wonderful world of machine sewing where the camper gets to choose patterns and tempting fabric. In Handwork Day Camp, kids will knit, crochet, hand and machine
sew the day away, making adorable creations. Young strategists will love Chess Camp, playing tournament-style recorded chess with chess clocks, as well as studying the games and lessons of the grandmasters, and fine-tuning endgames. Adventures in Animation will explore how to create short films through hands-on approaches. Campers will learn how to storyboard a narrative, create handdrawn flipbooks, laser cut paper figures, and use LEGO kits to take on mini challenges and create their own films. And Filmmaking Academy takes campers through the process of making a series of short films. Each student will get the opportunity to write, direct and edit while exploring the tools of screen writing, cinematography and digital editing. In CodeCraft Academy: Learning to Code in Minecraft, with their own robot assistants, campers will learn to code, create and survive in a multiplayer realm they share with the other campers. Penn Charter offers additional camps that explore cutting-edge technology, such as Mod Design and Video Game Development. Seven one-week Varsity Camps – in tennis, wrestling, squash, field hockey, baseball, basketball and soccer – the new Outdoor Skills and Climbing Camp, and the summer-long Sports Camp keep kids active and challenged. Other offerings include Day Camp – the ultimate variety in summer fun – as well as Performing Arts, Girls Empowerment, and Youth & Money camps. Keep the brain healthy at AIM Summer Enrichment programs Exploring the Poles in Grades K-5
D
id you know research shows all young people experience learning losses when they do not engage in educational activities during the summer? Children enjoying AIM Academy’s four-week Summer Enrichment Program in Conshohocken (Monday, July 3 – Friday, July 28) experience summer fun while developing reading and math skills through a dynamic learning experience integrating research-based teaching methods with creative activities. Summer programs at AIM feature three hours of literacy and academic instruction each morning and recreation and STEAM activities in the afternoon, including performing arts in the black box theater and art studios, robotics in the Lower School Maker Space and Robotics and Engineering center, classes in animation and video game creation, science experiments galore and sports and athletic opportunities on AIM's turf field, in the full-size gymnasium and more. AIM’s research-based curriculum and general reputation for providing extraordinary educational opportunities to children with languagebased learning differences are what led most parents to choose AIM’s Summer Enrichment Program.
Each summer the Elementary Program explores an exciting region of the globe with the essentials skills (reading comprehension, writing and math) curriculum interlaced in a fun and creative way. In 2017, children will join an expedition to the ends of the earth from the Arctic to the Antarctic. Through engaging literature and arts-based learning opportunities with AIM’s experienced teaching staff, children will explore the distinct geography, extreme climates, and unique inhabitants of the Polar Regions with lessons encompassing small group reading, writing and math instruction using researchbased programs including Fundations, Wilson Reading, RAVE-O and Read Naturally. After lunch the spirit of adventure and exploration moves from the classroom to the field, stage and studios as children discover, play, explore, create and perform during AIM’s action-packed afternoons including drama, robotics, sports and arts. Bolstering Executive Function Skills and Preparing for College in Grades 6 - 12 AIM Academy's Summer Enrichment Program offers something for everyone.

Middle school and high school students can hone foundational skills in reading, writing and math in a hands-on learning environment featuring specialized instruction in assistive technology and the application of executive functioning skills to help build academic efficiency and college readiness. Afternoon STEAM and recreation workshops including: Filmmaking, Robotics and Engineering, Recreation and Sports, Visual Arts, Video Game Design, Animation, 3D Design and Science allow 6th10th graders to discover new talents and explore technology. High school juniors and seniors have a unique opportunity to prepare for the ACT exam in a smallgroup instructional setting designed to target each student's areas of need with AIM’s Early Edge program. Collaborative Arts’ Summer Camps provide this and so much more. A parent on the review website “Hipster Henry” had this to say about their child’s experience: “(Yes! And... Collaborative Arts has) a knack for bringing out confidence in children and a chance to work together and use their imagination in ways they are not encouraged to do so in their normal school year. graders have their typical threeweek sessions, but now include a two-week workshop and a few oneweek intensives. This year’s intensives include a visual arts intensive and a technical theatre intensive. Imagination Camps, serving K4th graders, are one-week adventures in play and performance. Collaborative Arts is offering their popular musical theatre camp, Summer Sort of Thing. very well regarded Shadow Company camp. This camp is for high school students who will work on a play that they will perform for the FringeArts Festival in September.
