Please introduce yourself. I'm an entrepreneur, public speaker and fitness fanatic. I am a Kurdish-Canadian residing in Vancouver.
Tell us about your education. I went to college for Kinesiology. I then spent a decade after that expanding my knowledge attending workshops, reading multiple books and taking online courses in entrepreneurship, social media marketing and more. To me, education is a lifelong process, and I'm in school every day of my life .
What is your career path to date? I have always been curious about different fields. Growing up, I wanted to try almost everything. I spent years working in the health and fitness industry as a personal trainer, the airline industry as a flight attendant and then the tech world, in marketing and business development. Today I run a coaching platform called Bloomshell. I believe you have to try different things to find the one thing you're genuinely passionate about.
Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a job? I decided to become an entrepreneur because I believe we are all creators and can invent ideas that can impact the lives of those around us. People think running a business is all glorious and exciting, and while that's true, there is so much more to it. You need to be willing to spend an enormous amount of energy for sometimes little to no return. While it's not always easy, it's undoubtedly the most rewarding path I have ever taken.
What gets you out of bed in the morning, i.e. what's your source of motivation? To become a slightly better person than I was yesterday to impact my community positively.
What challenges/obstacles have you faced in your journey so far? My greatest challenges have always been within me. They have been limiting beliefs about my capabilities that have primarily made it much harder to achieve my goals. These obstacles, however, are a necessary part of our growth. But once I learned to overcome things like self-doubt or how I defined myself in this world, I was able to follow my purpose.
What comes first for you – money or emotions? Emotions. We all want to be happy, and by learning to create positive emotions, we can live contentedly regardless of how much money we have.
Thank you for allowing me to voice myself. I love the work you guys are doing and how you are empowering women. I look forward to seeing your innovative ideas come to life for your readers!
How did you become a fitness fanatic? It was always my outlet during the most challenging times in my life. The gym was my safe place, and it continues to be.
What is your fitness regime? I'm currently on a strength conditioning programme. I primarily do a lot of heavy weight lifting. I train five days a week, and when it comes to nutrition, I focus on eating 70% healthy and 30% unhealthy.
What are the secrets for happiness? Learn to love yourself unconditionally and do things to help others in some way.
What advice would you give to someone starting on their entrepreneurial journey, particularly women? You have something to offer to this world. Don't be afraid to get yourself out there and try. Create a plan and don't worry if everything doesn't go according to that plan. Life throws curveballs, and the most important thing is to be willing to adapt and try different methods until one finally works. And, the best part of becoming an entrepreneur is the journey itself.
Name one strategy you believe has helped you grow as a person? Clearing out the noise. My ability to disregard others' opinions and follow my own direction.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success? Do the work. If you fail, then do the work again until you win.
What is BLOOMSHELL? What does it offer? Bloomshell is a coaching platform that aids people through self-development and business strategy.
