DIPPIN’ DABBERS
The sticky notes and photocopies that Pearl Richman stuffed into to her family’s seder readings over the years led her mother to suggest a proper printing— which gained initial attention from The Canadian Jewish News. Five years later, Richman runs a company called the Hagaddah Collective, with a range of ritual dinner accessories. The growing Judaica catalogue includes coasters that add a visual context for the recitation of the 10 plagues, while also keeping wine off the tablecloth. There’s an adult dabber along with one designed for kids; these illustrations correspond with the ones in Hug-It-Out, the adaptation of Richman’s haggadah for the younger attendees at the seder. Her venture also focuses on the Fifth Child Initiative, a way of remembering the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust. “I wanted my kids to be involved more through paying attention to what the story of Passover was about,” she says. “And now I’m doing it for other people, too.” thehaggadahcollective.com
