equitable climate policy and it would undermine future possibilities of having a truly strong and effective carbon tax policy put in place in Washington. I-732 misses the mark for a few reasons, including predictions by the State Department of Revenue that the measure would result in lost revenue. Also, revenue from the carbon tax would be invested in tax cuts, not job creation or helping communities impacted by polluting facilities. The Washington environmental community including Washington Environmental Council and Sierra Club are also recommending a no vote. We believe in the importance of placing a cap on carbon emissions, however, we also believe that any carbon tax must take the right approach.
