With one of every five classical concert attendees now under age 25, The Cleveland Orchestra is building the country’s youngest orchestra audience. This ambitious undertaking is supported by the Orchestra’s Center for Future Audiences. The Center, created with a lead endowment gift from the Maltz Family Foundation, was established in 2010 to fund programs to develop new generations of audiences for Cleveland Orchestra concerts in Northeast Ohio. The Cleveland Orchestra Herbert Blomstedt, conductor Mark Kosower, cello DVOŘÁK Cello Concerto TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No. 6 (“Pathétique”) A pairing of works by two of the greatest melodic masters. Composed during his time in New York, Dvořák’s Cello Concerto is a wistful, lyrical love letter to his Bohemian homeland. In contrast, Tchaikovsky’s emotionally turbulent — and genuinely gorgeous — final symphony explores the triumphs and tragedies of life. In this work, the composer declared, he had put his “whole soul into” the music. [Pop culture note: Excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Sixth can be heard in a variety of films, including Maurice, the 1997 version of Anna Karenina, Soylent Green, and The Aviator.]

Severance Restaurant Severance Restaurant features contemporary American cuisine in an elegant setting, perfect for a quick bite before the concert, a leisurely dinner, or even a custom-catered reception for a special event. Dining Service begins three hours before each evening or Sunday afternoon concert and immediately following Friday matinee performances. Menus include a selection of prix-fixe options consisting of four courses of seasonally appropriate, locally sourced ingredients, served with a choice of coffee or tea.
