Graduate Program The master’s program gives you the big picture of college student services — and helps you gain the skills and credentials to excel in the field. Starting with the historic view of the “student as a whole person,” the 36-credit program has a number of advantages: ■

Multicultural and social justice issues are integrated into all coursework.

The content reflects a unique combination of student-development theory, student-centered focus, administrative practice and counseling philosophy.

Every course emphasizes the practical application of course content.

Small class sizes enable students to gain maximum benefit from the faculty and other students in the program.

The program’s extensive network in the Northeast enables students to intern at a variety of colleges and universities in settings that match their career interest.

Multiple opportunities for graduate assistantships at Saint Rose and other local colleges can increase your skill set and decrease the cost of your graduate education.

Saint Rose CSSA graduates comment on the programs’ strong alumni network and how dedicated they are to helping each other succeed.

Faculty Our full-time and adjunct faculty members have all been practitioners in public, private, and community college settings in student affairs bringing that experience into the classroom. Professors strive to combine theory with practice in classroom discussion and in assignments.

Internships New York State has the second largest concentration of colleges and universities of any state in the country. With 307 colleges in New York, many within the Capital Region, you will be able to gain experience in countless settings in higher education. Each professional, 300-hour internship experience is uniquely structured depending on your particular interest and skills. All internships will enable students to: ■

Organize and conduct at least two programs for the student body.

Organize and conduct a staff development workshop for college personnel and others.

■ ■

Provide direct services to students. Take part in groups and committees aimed at enhancing the campus climate.

Participate in multicultural student group activities.
