Courses will cover a wide array of subjects including higher education law, strategic planning, budgeting, risk management, resource stewardship, community relations, enrollment management and effective management styles for successful leaders. Taught in small-group seminars to encourage discussion, the degree is designed for those working full- or part-time with courses offered in the evenings and on Saturdays in traditional and hybrid format. As part of the capstone course in the program, students will produce applied research papers that are intended to be publishable and adaptable in future leadership settings. Students who wish to gain specialized knowledge in certain aspects of higher education leadership and administration may choose to pursue a stand-alone advanced certificate. The Certificate of Advanced Study in Organizational Leadership (15 credits) combines courses in the MBA and educational leadership programs and the Certificate of Advanced Study in Quality Control for Higher Education (15 credits) focuses on developing skills in research, assessment, accreditation and program evaluation.
