Undergraduate Programs History majors study why and how societies and cultures changed, building critical thinking, research and writing skills that equip them to successfully negotiate a rapidly transforming political landscape and global economy. The Political Science degree program covers the broad range from current-day American politics, comparative political development, public policy and ideology to international relations. Pre-law students can complete a dual degree program — earning their bachelor’s degree from Saint Rose and their J.D. law degree from Albany Law School — in just six years. Future social studies teachers qualify for their initial certification by majoring in Social Studies/Adolescence Education 7-12 or earn two certifications, one in adolescence education and a second in special education, providing a powerful skill set for today’s inclusive classrooms.

Students in the dual degree pre-law program can earn their bachelor’s degree from Saint Rose and their J.D. law degree from Albany Law School in just six years.

Graduate Programs If you are planning a career in politics and public service (among other fields), you will benefit from the M.A. in History and Political Science. Students in this program grapple with cutting-edge scholarship, confront forms of injustice and inequity, rethink their own relation to prevailing power structures, and immerse themselves in the key debates of our times. In the process, students become active agents for positive change and learn to consider alternatives to “the way things are.”
