Bogota's international books fair (FILBO for its acronym in Spanish) is probably the most important literary and publishing event of Latin America. Thanks to this event, Bogotá was named The World Capital Book by UNESCO in 2007. The event gathers publishing industry for promotion and the books trade. It’s not all about books but also about music, dancing, painting and theater. It always has many interesting activities for all ages. Every year, this fair has an honor guest country, with the purpose of sharing its cultural vision about literature. Its honor guest for this year is going to be Portugal. Portugal's culural show has been cataloged as "a Books' Sea". Portuguese writers and poets will be presenting their work at the event. There is going to be also library with over 20.000 books in Portuguese and Spanish from different publishers. One of the highlights of this version of the event will be a tribute to the Nobel Prize winner in Literature Jose Saramago made by his widow, Pilar del Rio. Filbo is an Annual event that takes place at Corferias (Bogotá, Colombia). The 26th version of the event will take place from April 18th to May 1st. The normal schedule will be from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Definitely it is a worthwhile event to attend.
