DESIGNED AND BUILT FOR YOU

The Complete Architect is a RIBA Chartered Practice specialising solely in the design of one off bespoke houses for private clients. The practice ethos is to create inspiring designs that enable our clients to realise their aspirations. In addition to considerable architectural experience, the strength of the team lies in its depth of knowledge in project cost management. Great design and good cost control means clients ambitions of completing and living in their own bespoke designed home come to fruition. Designing for our clients is close to our hearts and starts with developing their brief through a process of listening, enquiry and shared possibilities. But possibilities have to be within reach and our team relish the creativity that comes with constraints. For our clients, design isn’t a theoretical exercise but part of a process leading to a completed project Our team are equally adept at contemporary and traditional design, responding to the unique characteristics a site presents and the specific requirements of our client, resulting in high quality, carefully considered and imaginative architecture. Enhancing years of architectural experience and training the team use a range of tools, from simple hand sketching to highly sophisticated software to help our clients visualise and contribute to the design process. These include: REVIT, Photoshop, Sketchup, Autocad, Illustrator.

“Finding innovative solutions to unique challenges and ensuring the smooth running of our projects is both stimulating and rewarding. Our holistic approach and the professionalism of our team is key to achieving our goals

Tim Burrell DIRECTOR

Prior to jointly founding The Complete Oak Home, then subsequently its Architectural Practice The Complete Architect, Tim was Managing Director of one of the country’s leading oak frame designers and manufacturers. In 2012, he was featured as the oak frame industry’s ‘Leading Light’ by Self Build and Design magazine. In his career, he has been involved in many award winning structures in both the commercial and domestic spheres including the traditional and contemporary new buildings at the National Trust’s Stowe visitor centre [RIBA and Wood Awards winner], and the housing development of Accordia in Cambridge [RIBA’s 2008 Stirling Prize]). Tim’s particular area of expertise is in the aesthetics and engineering of timber framed buildings, a subject on which he has lectured on many occasions for organisations such as Napier university, Wood for Good, TRADA, and the National Trust. Tim is also a chartered management accountant and is responsible for the cost planning of each project. He works closely with our design team and reviews all schemes at regular intervals throughout the design process to ensure sound cost planning. Tim has overall responsibility for the cost planning for each project and acts as one of our contract administrators during the construction phase.

”It isn’t always immediately apparent but working to fully understand what makes a house a home and work well for the client, underpins the design of a good building. I always aim to exceed the client’s expectations both aesthetically and functionally. I find it really satisfying knowing I have delivered exactly what the client wants“.

Luke Jackson ARCHITECT

Luke is a qualified RIBA chartered architect, with seven years of professional experience in architectural design. Luke studied architecture at The University of Nottingham, where he completed both his degree (part 1) and diploma (part 2). He completed his certificate in professional practice (part 3) at the University of Bath. Prior to joining The Complete Oak Home, Luke worked for a number of practices in London, Nottingham and Wiltshire. His experience is predominantly in the residential sector, designing high quality bespoke homes for private clients. He has particular experience in designing in sensitive areas and in working with historic buildings. Luke has no bias in terms of design style and applies the same rigour and design critique in designing a traditional dwelling as he would a contemporary one. He enjoys the design process; bringing together his creative flair and good space planning to create designs which are both functional and beautiful.

“I am fortunate to have first-hand experience of architecture across a number of cultures and countries. What I particularly enjoy here is not being limited by a ‘house style’ and the freedom to work with our clients to deliver the home they aspire to”

Maria Citterio ARCHITECT

Maria has been involved in residential architecture for 16 years. She gained her BSC in Architecture (Milan) in 2005, and became a qualified member of the Board of Architects in 2008. Maria’s work has covered a wide range of residential development schemes in Italy, England, and even Zambia allowing her to bring different perspectives to the team at The Complete Architect. Maria has worked with an eclectic group of companies, from renowned architectural practices Luraghi Enrico and Studio KCity to Malnate City Council. As well as extensive residential experience, Maria spent a year in Zambia for an NGO designing and managing the build of a youth community training centre, including training labs, restaurant and showrooms. With a wide range of experience across all aspects of design, Maria particularly appreciates The Complete Architects ethos of providing a fully comprehensive, joined up and holistic service. Since joining the team she has worked on simple functional single storey dwellings, an Arts and Crafts inspired development, barn-style oak framed homes, and highly contemporary projects.

This drawing is copyright of The Complete Oak Home and may not be copied or reproduced without permission. Figured dimensions are to be taken in preference to scaled dimensions. Large scale drawings to have preference to small scale drawings.

Dimensions for fixed-in items are to be checked on site prior to manufacture.

“I like to develop a strong conceptual foundation for a design and follow this through each stage of the design development to ensure a highly considered and striking piece of architecture.

Joshua Wood ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER

Josh has 9 years combined architectural education and experience. He has won awards for sustainable design. Before joining The Complete Architect, Josh worked on a wide variety of residential projects at two Bristol-based architectural practices. Notable projects such as Paintworks in Bristol and Baltic Wharf in Totnes highlight his focus towards and delight in achieving good, sustainable architecture within cost criteria. He currently tutors architectural design at the University of the West of England, promoting a more pragmatic approach to design which he believes leads to honest and thus beautiful architecture. For Josh, the pleasure in design is found when constraints require outside of the box creative thinking. He believes that creativity can thrive on limited resource and lead to exciting & innovative architecture. His designs showcase how value engineering help reduce overall project costs whilst contributing positively to the architecture. He believes in honesty and modesty.

Keith Ellis SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL TECHNICIAN

Keith has over 30 years’ experience as an Architectural Technician over a variety of building types and scales. For the first 15 years, he cut his teeth on large commercial and industrial projects where complete accuracy in all detail, and tight cost focus was of paramount importance. For the last 15 years he has specialised in vernacular domestic architecture with its closer client contact, use of natural materials and designing buildings that should last for centuries. Much of Keith’s experience was gained as the Senior Architectural Technician at a well-renowned Cotswold based practice, and it was there that he gained a wide knowledge of traditional construction techniques in natural building materials as well as modern construction methods. Previous to joining The Complete Architect, Keith was the Senior Designer for one of the country’s leading timber frame design and fabricators. Working closely with Tim Burrell, he worked on a variety of projects, including historic buildings, new ‘traditional’ and contemporary frames. Today Keith is regarded as one of the country’s foremost specialist timber frame architectural technicians.

“My aim is to ensure we as a team perform our roles to the best of our creative and technical abilities, we work together to deliver exemplary homes for our clients and we create designs that outperform our client’s expectations on every level”.

Ged Brocket PRACTICE MANAGER

With a career in process control, logistics and international operations management, Ged brings invaluable experience to our design team. A successful design team requires much more than architectural expertise. Ged is the team leader with a focus on delivering first class client service through organised, collaborative team management. As well as managing our internal team Ged works with a range of third parties including surveyors, engineers and planning authorities. She also attends to all the background research that helps us give clients cost confidence at the earliest opportunity. No two sites are the same and require different information, to ensure successful planning applications, and conformity with planning conditions and building regulations. By thoroughly researching and evaluating each site and relevant planning requirements at the start, Ged helps the team make best use of the client’s available budget. She also works with the construction teams to ensure they have all the details they need to accurately cost a project and liaises with clients where decisions need to be made. It is said the devil is in the detail and at The Complete Architect the creative process and robust delivery standards are testament to this. There are very few businesses that can have such a dramatic effect on a family’s quality of life. Our service culminates in a home for our client. A home they will live in and enjoy for generations to come.
