CHRISTMAS POST
ONE GREAT DAY Saturday 16th November 12pm – 6pm We’re kicking off the festive season at Southside Shopping Centre with the One Great Day Christmas launch event, which sees the town centre ignite with the spirit of Christmas. Don’t forget to say hello to the stilt-walking Nutcracker and roller-skating ballerinas!
YOUR FESTIVE NEWSPAPER FROM SOUTHSIDE AND WANDSWORTH TOWN
One Great Day at Southside, Wandsworth. On 16th November, we’ve got characters from ‘The Nutcracker’, a magician, Stormtroopers, a ‘Frozen’ surprise, and we’re handing out mince pies, candy canes and mulled apple juice.
A quintessential Christmas treat for all the family, One Great Day on 16th November is guaranteed to put you in the festive spirit.
It feels like Christmas when you taste your first mince pie. We’ll be giving them away, while stocks last!
Don’t miss the grand finale, when our acts take their bows on stage, while balloons and confetti rain down onto the crowds
Our jolly Christmas pudding on skates has been marinating for ages and is finally back to see us this year.
The glitter hair and braid bar is one of the treat stations to make a beeline for.
Our handsome stilt-walking Nutcracker is back! In ‘The Nutcracker’ ballet, Clara is given an enchanted Nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve. The Nutcracker doll and toy soldiers come to life at midnight and journey through a winter wonderland and the kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy!
One Great Day is an opportunity to raise money for charity and have a great day doing it! Communities and families across London will be coming together at Southside Shopping Centre to get involved in a day of family fun – supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital and other kids’ charities.

’Tis the season. Dear friends, We’re getting into the festivities here at Southside Shopping Centre and Wandsworth Town. Join us for a season of joy and all things merry as we kick off the celebrations with family fun events, Yuletide activities across the town and magical shopping experiences.
You know it’s Christmas when… Shop local. If every shopper spent £5 per week in local and independent shops rather than online this would result in an extra £22.8m going into our local economy meaning more local jobs, a better High Street and a nicer place to call home. Invest in your community and stay up to date with what Wandsworth Town has to offer at wandsworth.town and southsidewandsworth.com
… the day comes to buy your Christmas tree to take home and decorate, and you hear carols being sung in your local church All Saints Church are selling Christmas trees. There’ll also be a carol service at the church on Sunday 8th December at 5pm, 98 Wandsworth High Street, all welcome. At Bramble & Willow florist in Wandsworth, the owner, Emma, is busy arranging Christmas bouquets (pictured). They also supply bespoke Christmas wreaths and hold popular wreath-making workshops. Their shop window, graced with a festive plant display, is a wonder to behold. Christmas trees are available at the end of November in store and can be preordered – delivery is possible on your chosen date. Contact them at info@brambleandwillow.com or at 545a Old York Road.

Have your hair styled at RUSH or watch a Christmas movie at Cineworld.
For knockout party looks for the whole family, see page 8
First, buy a bottle of good wine from Oddbins on Armoury Way – they host regular weekend tastings. Then, stock up on Paperchase wrapping paper (pictured above) and settle down at home, with a glass of red, to begin wrapping and Christmas card writing.
When the family descend, take them for a walk by the River Wandle that winds round Ram Quarter (pictured below). Also, don’t forget to order your turkey from Waitrose.
