Popular opinion and common belief used to be that anyone who used drugs and was addicted to substances made this choice for themselves, and continued to use despite all the negative effects on their health, life and family.

After more than 60 years as Ocean Mental Health Services we have changed our name to acknowledge that we are so much more than just mental health services. Over the years we have added extensive addiction services, a primary care clinic, a pharmacy and access to lab services, and let’s not to forget to mention our special education school, Ocean Academy; the time had come to have an agency name that encompassed all that we do. Ocean Mental Health Services is now Bright Harbor Healthcare!

As our community has grown, so have the needs of the community members. COVID-19 has challenged all of us to adapt to how we not only go about our daily lives, but how we access services and care through alternate means. Telehealth has been a great resource and modality to ensure that community residents are able to continue to receive treatment and care from their therapists, doctors, nurses and case managers. Telehealth has proven so successful and beneficial, Bright Harbor Healthcare will continue to offer services via this platform well beyond the needs of the pandemic.

The pandemic has also clearly demonstrated the need for more treatment and services in the areas of trauma, major depression and addiction. With rates of mental health crisis and impairing substance use on the rise, Bright Harbor Healthcare is ready to help all community residents struggling with these challenges find hope, wellness and recovery. To name a few, we offer specialized services in:

• Innovative treatment for Major Depressive Disorder • Outpatient Detox Services • Integrated Trauma Center • Primary Care Services • Active Duty Military and Veteran Services
