Plus a few that might have gone under the radar including the hilarious Marcel the Shell with Shoes On and the beautiful documentary All That Breathes.

The first major feature film about the much loved but hugely underestimated British O cial War Artist, killed in a plane crash over Iceland in 1942. Featuring contributions from artists Ai Weiwei and Grayson Perry, writers Alan Bennett and Robert Macfarlane, the film recounts a life as compelling and enigmatic as his art, set against the dramatic wartime locations that inspired him. Awards! What better way to follow Borderlines Film Festival than to screen some of this year’s biggest awards contenders. We’ve got returning dramas The Banshees of Inisherin, Empire of Light and Aftersun alongside the surprise mega-hit of the year Everything Everywhere All at Once. For the first time at The Courtyard Cinema we’re also screening war epic All Quiet on the Western Front.

A middle-aged Chinese immigrant is swept up into an adventure in which she alone can save existence by exploring other universes and connecting with the lives she could have led. Limited foreign language excerpts with English subtitles.

Adapted from Erich Maria Remarque’s 1928 novel, this German war epic is dominating the technical categories this year with 9 Oscar and 14 BAFTA nominations. One thing’s for sure, it’s to be seen on the big screen! The film is set in World War I and follows a soldier named Paul as he enlists in the German Army and confronts the harrowing reality of war.
