SOCIAL story

I’m going to the relaxed screening of Mummies (U) at The Courtyard.

This story will help me understand what to expect when I get there.

I’m going to The Courtyard to watch a film.

The Courtyard is a big building with lots of glass that has a theatre, cinema and café inside.

This is what it looks like from outside.

If I arrive by car, bus or bike then I go to the car park and see the building from behind which looks like this…

Inside the theatre, the people at Box Office will help me to pick up my tickets, if I haven’t already got them.

There is a Cafe and a restaurant at The Courtyard

This is where I will go to buy food and drinks if I need them.

I can go to the toilet whenever I need to.

There are toilets on the ground floor and on the first floor.

The accessible toilets are quieter and I can dry my hands with paper instead of an air dryer in there.

The film will be in the Studio Theatre which looks like this...

The film will start at 2.30pm but I can go into the Studio Theatre from 1.30pm to look around if I like.

When the film starts it will go a little bit darker (but not completely dark) and it will be a little noisy (but not too loud).

Words will appear on the bottom of the screen as the characters talk. These are called subtitles. Subtitles help people who cannot hear well or struggle to follow conversations to understand what is happening in the film.

The film is called Mummies.

Follow three mummies as they end up in present-day London and embark on a journey in search of an old ring belonging to the Royal Family, stolen by the ambitious archaeologist Lord Carnaby.

If I want to take a break from the film, I can leave the Studio Theatre and go to the Chill Out Area in The Nell Gwynne Studio. It will be quiet in there.

I can return to the Studio Theatre when I am ready.

There will be colouring in sheets which I can take to the Studio Theatre to complete as I watch this film if I would like to.
