HOTA, Home of the Arts presents a world premiere exhibition, Pop Masters: Art from the Mugrabi Collection, New York.

DIRECT FROM NEW YORK , and is only on the Gold Coast for 15 weeks, HOTA Gallery invites you into the iconic world of Pop Art.

In a world-first exhibition, Pop Masters: Art from the Mugrabi Collection, New York presents more than 40 works never-beforeseen in Australia from the three hero artists of the world of Pop Art – Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring – alongside works by Katherine Bernhardt, Kwesi Botchway, George Condo, Damien Hirst, KAWS, Joel Mesler, Richard Prince, Tom Sachs, Julian Schnabel, Mickalene Thomas and Tom Wesselmann.

Drawn entirely from the famed private collection of one of the world's most prominent art collectors, Jose Mugrabi, the blockbuster exhibition celebrates the origins and ongoing legacy of Pop Art.

The team at HOTA have been working hard behind the scenes to build the perfect program to support this world-exclusive exhibition.

• The headline event for this immersive and exclusive program is the Up Lates: New York Nights which will take place on 24 March and 19 May 2023.

During these two unmissable evenings, immerse yourself in the sights, tastes and sounds of New York as the team blend music, art, food, drinks and ‘Pop’-up performances for a night of unforgettable entertainment.

The Gallery closes at 10pm, but you can keep the good times rolling as you head upstairs to The Exhibitionist Bar for the perfect nightcap.

• Pop Masters Film Season: Catch one of ten diverse films that, like Pop Art, explore the fine line between culture and art through a kaleidoscope of genres and styles.

Re-discover entertaining cult classics or delve into a historical exploration of the era.

• Poptails: Following a guided tour of the exhibition, head upstairs to The Exhibitionist Bar for a drink and a chat with Bar Manager Tom Angel about the special 'Pop' inspired cocktail menu (your first cocktail is included).

• Face Value: Brought to you by the young mavericks of theatre performance, The Farm’s youth theatre group pose as a ‘50s sitcom to poke fun at the trauma of our times in this contemporary response to Pop Masters.

• Pop Talks: Each month a local artist will be welcomed into the HOTA Gallery studio to chat Pop, and the influence it has had on their work and artistic processes.

• Pop ArtLabs: Every month explore different artmaking ideas, processes and materials with HOTA’s team of experienced Artistic Educators.

Take inspiration from the Pop Masters exhibition to create a masterpiece of your own, as you try your hand at screen printing, pop collage, embroidery or Pop portraits in one of the five ArtLabs on offer.

• Tours: The HOTA team will lead three different tours during the 15-week exhibition, including an Auslan interpreted tour, a weekly highlight tour and a Deep Dive tour, which looks in the stories of the art and the artist behind them.

Pop Masters: Art from the Mugrabi Collection, New York runs in the HOTA Gallery until 4 June 2023.
