WORKING WOMENS HOSTEL SEM 06 PROJECT: Working womens hostel LOCATION: Mumbai,Maharashtra TYPE: Residentional use

BRIEF

To provide facilities/ space that an independent women requires in an alien city they have adopted to realize their ambitions.

DESIGN-community planning

6

01

A community of village homes use on average of about half of the energy required by comparable non solar buildings in the same area. The houses also tend to be more comfortable, desirable and interactive for women and girls coming from different communities and thus forming a single community like village homes. Cluster housing saves land and energy and thus the saved land can be used for more recreation spaces, vegetable gardens and orchards. Courtyards are provided for each cluster giving privacy and also helps in passive environmental strategies Tactile floors are designed along with tactile walls for the blind Also plants are provided with fragrance for visually challegend

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

The precinct are made from three different types of programs

MASSING AND PROGRAM ORGANISATION

Programes are organised vertically to retain all required adjacencies and visual connections in a compact volume

AD

COMMUNITY

Such formation of clusters will form a community for women coming from different towns which will be one of its kind in the city

PRECINCT WITHIN A PRECINCT

Volumes are grouped according to the relationship between each program.Seperation of volumes accomodates circulation while defining each block as a seperate entity within the structure

OVERHANGS

The system of formation of overhangs could be seen in the first floor since the bigger volumes are organised above the smaller ones

WINDOWS AND COURTYARDS

All program areas are oriented in such a way that each block gets a view of its private courtyard thus increasing privacy and security

DESIGN-fluid architecture Fluidity of architecture is the interaction of multiple ele-

ments from the scale of the building to the scale of the urban context A bionic shape, as a living organism, rising from the ocean, rest on the coastline The form inspired from the natural topography along the ocean interacts with the surroundings and appear as an incarnation of the nature itself The curved geometry extends and grows as lines of ripples The adjacent greenery creates an unexpected network of social spaces, a recreational plaza where environment, water and activities gather people

LANDSCAPE DESIGN- RESORT SEM 04 PROJECT: Desert resort LOCATION: Jodhpur, Rajasthan TYPE: Landscape design

BRIEF

To design a transitional and experiential landscape for Lakeside Ecotel Desert Resort enhancing the value along with site context.

DESIGN-charbaugh design The design aims to create a traditional islamic landscape design creating different experimental spaces for people to cater in different times of the day. Water is used to define higher volume and

creates symphonies and ripples. They act as an ornamentation element of the garden. Also, for the people of the deserts, water was scarcely available so channelizing water into their enclosure also displayed a sense of luxury.

DOCUMENTATION

HAMPI,KARNATAKA

Hampi, the lost kingdom, has faced thebrunt of brutal invasions. The city was deliberately destroyed by Turkish invaders, specially making sure that the structuresthat were most dear to the people were obliterated. The amalgamation of the indigenous stones, granite and sandstone, with external sunlight dissipates warmth within these structures. Plinths, columns, and ceilings of these precincts, with their intricate carvings, narrate stories of religious scriptures and folklore - Panchatantra.

28

JODHPUR, RAJASTHAN

4240

Taj Mahal of Marwar, a milky white structure that stands ethereal against the backdrop of the bright Rajasthani sky. It is a most fascinating structure, with its array of fanciful domes, intricate carvings, and quaint fusion of Rajput and Mughal architectural elements. The arches, pillars, and jharokhas of the cenotaph are tastefully adorned with elaborate carvings.

ARTS AND GRAPHICS

Art has a facinating connection with architecture, amazing how it matures over time and the boundaries between them fades away.
