2015 Kids' Design-An-Ad

Defiance County fifth- and sixthgraders tapped into their creative sides and produced hundreds of advertisements for The CrescentNews’ 25th annual Kids’ DesignAn-Ad tabloid. Taking top honors were students from Hicksville and Tinora schools. The first-place winner in the fifth grade was Jade Sigman of Hicksville Elementary School for her Defiance Veterinary Clinic ad. The top sixth-grade ad designer was Kylee Drewes of Tinora Elementary School for her Dari De-Lite ad. They each earned $100 for their creative entries. The Crescent-News sponsors the advertising competition each year,

offering the students the opportunity to learn about the field of advertising and design, as well as a chance to win cash prizes. Up for grabs this year was $730 in cash awards. Prizes were given to the first- through 10th-place winners in the fifth and sixth grades. Participants in this year’s competition included Holy Cross Catholic School, St. John Lutheran School, Defiance Elementary School, Ayersville Middle School and Tinora, Fairview and Hicksville elementary schools. After the area students completed their advertising submissions in April, they were viewed by the local participating businesses which chose the one they wanted to represent them. In May, the contest was then judged by Crescent-News’ employees.
