Culture #tbt to when the Backstreet Boys took every girl in Tuscaloosa back to their poster-laden middle school rooms of yesteryear. Every college-aged girl within a 50 mile radius of T-town flocked to the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater for a trip down memory lane with A.J., Kevin, Brian, Howie and, of course, Nick. 90s fashion came back for an evening with acid wash jeans and cropped tops galore. #IWantItThatWay #CarterBros4Life JT_NSYNC Backstreet may be back, but we’ve always been here.

abbeycrain, jmford2 and 432 others News The Crimson White reported allegations of racial discrimination in multiple sororities during formal recruitment in August. According to mutliple sources, the alumnae members of several sororities intervened in the recruitment process to deny the sororities from extending bids to multiple black potential new members. Fifty years after The University of Alabama was officially integrated, Greek organizations remained completely divided along racial lines.

News Five Greek organizations at The University of Alabama filed a motion to intervene in the election contest between Kelly Horwitz and Cason Kirby. The motion filed by the sororities’ lawyer states that all intervenors were properly qualified voters and were legally registered. In Tuscaloosa’s August municipal elections, Cason Kirby, a Tuscaloosa lawyer and former SGA president at The University of Alabama, defeated incumbent candidate Kelly Horwitz by a margin of 72 votes for the District 4 seat on the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education. News Hamilton Bloom received a call informing him that he was named SGA president with 6,378 of the 10,276 votes. At the final session of the 2013-14 SGA Senate, a resolution calling for full integration of the Greek system died with the end of the term, but was later passed. The Elections Board decided Vice President-Elect for Student Affairs Stephen Keller and his campaign “violated the spirit of a fair campaign” by accepting and distributing fliers on election day. Keller was not disqualified from office, but sanctioned to 75 hours of community service. TheRealPottedPlant So close guys. I can’t bI didn’t win. #PottedPlant2015

cat_buch, vicwattts, sloanedanielle and 300 others Sports The Sarah Patterson Champions Plaza created new outfield seating at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The right field plaza was built during the offseason to commemorate non-football championship teams. The area facing the baseball diamond has no charge for admission and has attracted large crowds since its inception. The Twitter account (@BamaRightField), created by students J.B. Costello and Maggie Owens, has gained more than 3,000 followers since the start of the season. mitch_gaspard It looks like they have a hell of a time out there.

News Ferguson Center Plaza
April 10, 2014
News When members of PinPoint Evangelism first walked onto the Ferguson Center Plaza the morning of April 23 with their “TRUST JESUS, HE HATES SIN, HEBREWS 1:9” sign, fewer than 10 people stayed around to listen. By lunch, though, they had garnered a larger audience. One member said they did not intend to disrupt students’ learning or create a combative environment. #preacherman UAStudents Take your hate and leave

DaBigManUpstairs Cool story, bro. Thanks for the shoutout.
Runoff Stormwater runoff is the rain and melting precipitation that flows off streets, rooftops, lawns, and farmland. The flowing water carries salt, sand, soil, pesticides, fertilizers, leaves, oil, litter, and many other pollutants into nearby waterways. In developed areas much of the land is covered by buildings and pavement, which do not allow water to soak into the ground. Storm Sewers are used to carry the large amounts of runoff to nearby waterways.
For questions, concerns, or to report potential stormwater violations, contact the Office of Environmental Safety at 348-5905

News As Easter morning dawned on April 22, 1973, the holiday calm was abruptly interrupted for University of Alabama Police Department investigator Irvin Fields, who was informed by phone that a student named Paula Lee Ellis was missing. Her body would be discovered a few hours later, seven miles away in a roadside ditch in Northport, just as Easter Sunday services were coming to a close across the area. Four decades later, her case, along with others, concerning UA students, has not been solved.

HOROSCOPES Today’s Birthday (04/24/14). Plan multiple routes to adventure this year. Revise writing, make repairs, and reconsider feelings before presenting. Past issues can resolve easily. Grow collaboration, partnership and community with communication (benefiting career and finances), especially over spring. August shifts focus homeward. Organize, and clear clutter (especially budgetary). After October, peaceful retreats or practices focus you to better support partnerships. Consider your heart’s desire. To get the advantage, check the day’s rating: 10 is the easiest day, 0 the most challenging. Aries (March 21-April 19) -- Today is a 5 -- Your dreams seem prophetic today and tomorrow. Something’s coming due. Clarify your direction with friends and dispel confusion. It’s emotion versus reason. Slow down and contemplate. Review and adjust. You either have results or excuses. Take notes. Your team renews your faith. Taurus (April 20-May 20) -- Today is a 6 -- Plan parties and get together with groups today and tomorrow. Creative collaboration builds a dream. Play, but remember your budget. Provide common sense where lacking. Set your goals high. Study to comply with a new request. Remind an idealist about the facts. Step onstage. Gemini (May 21-June 20) -- Today is a 6 -- A dream seems newly achievable. Take on new responsibilities today and tomorrow, and prepare for inspection. Give yourself time alone to think. Explain an abstract concept carefully. Investigate the outer limits, and advance your agenda. Push your luck and explore new territory. Cancer (June 21-July 22) -- Today is a 5 -- You’d rather play than work today and tomorrow. Do your homework. Travel conditions improve, with caution. Keep it realistic, with alternative routes and backup plans. Visualize future fun, and share possibilities with the ideal partners. Something you’re expecting may not be available. Evaluate resources. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22) -- Today is a 5 -- Financial planning is more fun with another today and tomorrow. Your partner’s vision inspires. Figure the costs to make it happen. Be on time. Have faith. Consider the previously impossible. Resolve illusive details. Separate speculation from fact. Get expert assistance to navigate uncharted waters. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) -- Today is
a 6 -- Fantasize about your perfect job today and tomorrow. Consult with a partner who can see your blind spots. Negotiations and compromise arise with greater ease. Balance work and family responsibilities with rigorous scheduling. Creativity at work provides solutions. You don’t have to do it all... delegate! Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) -- Today is a 5 -- The impossible looks easy. Dive into some intensity at work today and tomorrow. It’s an excellent moment for romantic dreaming. Share your fantasies. Be a good listener. Renew your vision for the future. Go for substance over nebulous or vague ideas. Cultivate your love. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) -- Today is a 5 -- Time for fun and games today and tomorrow. The best results come from playful experimentation. Dreams of domestic bliss can come true. Add aesthetic and harmonic touches. Try new flavors, combinations, and experiences. Figure out what you want to accomplish. Family comes first. Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) -Today is a 5 -- Your spiritual practices clear your mind. Dreams and visions make sense. Allow yourself some poetic license. You don’t have to be able to explain everything. Investigate a fascinating subject, and get inspired. Home holds your focus today and tomorrow. Handle chores and plan a luxurious evening. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) -- Today is a 6 -- Gather information today and tomorrow. Catch up on studies. Write, record and make plans. Get a contract in writing. Study and practice. An old dream comes true. Don’t squander savings on a splurge. Some of your rewards are intangible, but still valuable. Count your blessings. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) -- Today is a 5 -- Watch for a new source of income. Make sure you’ll earn enough to pay expenses. Show your team how much you believe in them. Have faith in your abilities. Get creative with solutions. Pay attention to emotional undercurrents. Restate your intentions to keep the dream alive. Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) -- Today is a 6 -- Life seems easier for the next few days. Consider the consequences before taking actions. Assert your desires (once you’ve figured them out). An answer comes in a dream. Ponder and plan. It could include travel or discovery. Keep your objective in mind, and meditate for clarity.
