WHO’S OPENING AND WHERE Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) is planning to open a 30,000 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack store at Woodmore Towne Center, located off the Capital Beltway/Interstate 495 at Route 202 in Glenarden, MD during spring 2017. The company will join Wegmans, Costco, Best Buy, Old Navy and JCPenney at the site. The company offers apparel, footwear and accessories for men and women, and currently operates more than 300 locations nationwide and in Canada, trading as Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Jeffrey boutique and one clearance outlet. Gap, Inc. (650-952-4400) is planning to open Gap and Old Navy stores along West 44th Street, at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. The retailers will occupy a space formerly tenanted by Toys “R” Us. The companies offer apparel, footwear and accessories for men, women and children and operate under the trade-names Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, Piperlime, Athleta and Intermix. Seasons Kosher Market (212-222-6332) is planning to enter MD with the opening of a 10,000 sq.ft. specialty supermarket at the site of a former Office Depot along Reisterstown Road in Baltimore during early 2016. The company currently operates four locations in New York, NY. Famous Toastery (www.toastcafeonline. com) is planning to open four restaurants throughout the Charlotte, NC area during the fall, in addition to locations slated to open in Winston-Salem, NC and Jacksonville, FL this year. The company, offering breakfast and brunch menu options, currently operates six locations throughout NC and SC. Newk’s Eatery (601-982-1160), through a franchisee expansion, is opening four restaurants throughout the greater Nashville, TN market by 2019. The chain, offering salad, pizza, soups and dessert items, currently operates more than 80 locations throughout 13 states. Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. (800-462-3966) plans to open 30 locations during its fiscal year. The company, offering home furnishings and decor, appliances, and bedding, also trades as buybuy Baby, Cost Plus World Market, Christmas Tree Shops and Harmon Face Values. La-Z-Boy, Inc. Nobu, a gourmet Japanese restaurant, will be adjacent to the store. The company, offering apparel, footwear and accessories for men and women, currently operates more than 1,400 locations nationwide and internationally, trading as Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People and Terrain. Lidl (www.lidl.co.uk) is planning to enter the U.S. market no later than 2018 with a proposed 36,000 sq.ft. store located along South Laburnum Avenue in Henrico County, VA and a store located along Mall Drive near Chesterfield Towne Center in Chesterfield County, VA. The company currently operates 10,000 locations across Europe. Farm Stores (800-726-3276), through a franchisee expansion plan, is preparing to roll-out smaller format drive-thru convenience stores. The 640 sq.ft. drivethru will carry grocery and baked goods, in addition to offering a quick-serve restaurant menu. The company currently operates more than 70 locations throughout FL. Natural Grocers (877-986-4600) plans to open 18 specialty supermarkets during its fiscal year. Its newest location is in Scottsdale, AZ. The company, offering organic and natural groceries, body care items and dietary supplements, currently operates 99 locations throughout 17 states. Bojangles, Inc. (704-527-2675) plans to open as many as 57 Bojangles restaurants throughout KY and WV this year, as part of an expansion plan to grow to as many as 1,400 locations throughout 10 states. The chain of restaurants currently operates more than 600 restaurants nationwide. Dog Haus International (626-796-4287), through a franchisee expansion plan, is opening 11 Dog Haus locations throughout TX by the end of the year.
