Who’s Opening and Where Safeway, Inc. (925-467-3000) will open a 49,343 sq.ft. Safeway at Mountain Ranch Marketplace, a 165,000 sq.ft. center situated on 22 acres at the intersection of Estrella Parkway and Elliot Road in Goodyear, AZ. The company will join Phoenix Children’s Academy, Chase Bank, Walgreens, Papa John’s, Great Clips and Oasis Bagels at the center. The store is slated to open next month. The company also plans to open a 60,000 sq.ft. Safeway Lifestyle store along California Avenue Southwest in Admiral, WA. The store will replace an existing Safeway at the same location that will be demolished to accommodate the Safeway Lifestyle store, which features lighting, custom flooring, a bakery, an expanded wine and beer department, a sushi bar, a meat and seafood department, an expanded deli and food service area and an in-store, two-level Starbucks location. The store is slated to open during August 2011. Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. (330-656-2600) plans to open at least 50 Jo-Ann Fabrics stores during the company’s 2012 fiscal year, as well as remodel 50 existing locations. The company currently operates 750 stores nationwide throughout 48 states.

Dunkin’ Brands, Inc. (781-737-3000), through a franchisee, plans to open four Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants throughout St. Louis, MO. Two of the openings are slated for 2012, with the remaining two to open by 2014. The company also plans, through franchisee Sack of Donuts, LLC, to open eight restaurants throughout South Bend, IN and Portage and Kalamazoo, MI. The first restaurant is slated to open next year, with the remainder opening by 2015. The company also plans, through a franchisee, to open a restaurant in Detroit, MI next year. The company currently operates 9,000 locations nationwide and internationally. Harris Teeter, Inc. (704-844-3100) plans to open a Harris Teeter supermarket in Olney, MD by the middle of next year. The company recently opened a location in Potomac, MD and currently operates 198 supermarkets throughout the southeastern region of the U.S. Hy-Vee, Inc. (515-267-2800) plans to open a 21,200 sq.ft. Hy-Vee grocery store in a former Hometown Foods site located along Ansborough Avenue in Waterloo, IA. The store will be the company’s fifth in the area.

Weis Markets (866-999-9347) plans to open a 63,400 sq.ft. store at a 70,000 sq.ft. shopping center in Forks Township, PA. The store will be in the company’s new design, featuring expanded departments and a pharmacy, as well as advanced refrigeration and climatecontrol technologies, and will also feature gasoline facilities. The location is slated to open late next spring. Sprockets Clothing, Inc. (510-397-2585) plans to open two Sprockets Kids locations in the U.S. this year, and more through 2012. The company recently opened a 3,500 sq.ft. store at Great Mall, located in Milipitas, CA. The store was the company’s first in the country, and offers clothing for children ages 0 through 7. The Kroger Co. (513-762-4000) will open a 145,000 sq.ft. Fred Meyer along Wilsonville Road in Wilsonville, OR. The store is slated to open during July of next year.
