Michelle Hold Art is my life and passion. My work is based on capturing the essence of feelings, emotions and the invisible, eternal energy that pervades the universe, focusing on beauty and it’s scarcity in current time. I am inspired by nature and new science that meets spirituality. Creating from a place of no time, no space no body. Like an architect I love to construct the images with multiple layering, but at the same time leaving space for surprise, for something unexpected to happen, where my dance like gestures encounter the vibrations of colour.

Jill Campbell Jill is based in the North East of England and graduated with a first class degree in fine art in 2014. She bases her work on an ancient mining landscape in County Durham near her home. She uses elements of what she sees and combines these with her imagination to create her bewitching paintings. She is fascinated by this landscape’s strange other-worldly, abstract shapes. Its pools, pathways, mounds, dips and curves are her motifs. She draws and then applies layers of paint, using loose gestural marks until she finds balance and a painterly world emerges which celebrates this landscape.

Alexander Mihaylovich “Since the late 1980s, Los Angeles artist Alexander Mihaylovich has been creating works that deal with the fragmentation of history and memory. His most recent pieces are three-dimensional mixed media works that allude to the ephemeral nature of our own time. The juxtaposition of modern industrial fragments with painted Arcadian landscapes and classical forms points to the disjointedness of our own past as well as the complexity of understanding history and time. The layering of found materials, such as plastic or metal, obscures our ability to view the painted image and acts as a metaphor for the destruction of cultural heritage and the environment.”

Mark Poprawski “The presence and absence of light is the most fundamental concept behind all my paintings. Although often diffused or obscured, it ultimately prevails; acting as an uplifting counterpoint to the heaviest of skies and darkest of seas. The application and removal of many layers of paint provides depth, until a balanced and coherent image emerges.” Mark studied painting at Norwich School of Art, graduating in 1997. He now lives in St. Ives, Cornwall, painting from his studio there on a full time basis. He exhibits in galleries throughout the south of England and at the Affordable Art Fairs, and his work is held in private collections throughout the world.

Michael Batey I have lived in Scotland for thirty two years and was born in Cumbria near the Lake District so you can imagine where a lot of the inspiration has come from. I paint mainly in oil in an ethereal manner painting from light to dark, none of my work is of somewhere particular it’s all in my head; I want the viewer to be transported to some place resembling or would like to find. Because I work outdoors every day I am seeing and feeling weather changes and moods especially if its stormy I seem to have the ability to remember the light.

Elena Kourenkova Established self-taught Russian-born (1966) artist. Graduated and worked as an Architect in Moscow. Moved to Glasgow in 1996. Articles concerning my work in local and national press, several awards. I focus on peculiarities of everyday events, human foibles and characters, interactions. We busy ourselves with tasks, we look but don’t really see and we listen but don’t really hear. We forget that the most important thing is to be happy and not to be important. My subjects go about their business as if no-one is looking, but sometimes we see one thing but they tell us another. Like many things in life-all is not what it seems. In other words, I try to reflect life as we see it but don’t always notice.

Sophie Abbott I create vivid and atmospheric paintings that all stem from a visual snapshot which I record on my iphone or sketchbook. My inspiration comes from many places; the seaside, outdoor swimming pools, lidos or the landscape on a cliff top walk, It’s not what it is in a practical sense, but the composition, shape and colour that excites me. It’s about finding the beauty and extraordinary in the ordinary, and capturing that in a painting.

Beth Partridge Beth Partridge is an artist whose expansive landscapes and cellular worlds are created in vibrant pools of colour micro worlds within worlds mixed with echoes of structural, archetypal forms. Working mainly in inks, fluid acrylic and glaze mediums, spontaneity and presence are deeply integral to her creative process. Both her past as a dancer , and her present life in the heart of West Sussex, UK, where she is “eternally bathed in green iridescent tonal landscapes,” are the biggest influences on her work. “The crisp smooth paper is for me a stillness bathed in white – a silent pause, like that between inhalation and exhalation. Then I pour the water and the dance begins. Inks merge. I gently nudge and persuade. I can never say what will appear”

Scott McLachan Scott, born in Scotland and now living in The Netherlands, was first inspired to create fantasy artwork by the likes of Chris Foss, Roger Dean and Frank Frazetta…his childhood painter heroes! Airbrush based sci-fi work was his early passion but this developed into a more general fantasy theme using acrylics and large canvases. More recently he has turned to the challenge of oils. His work always tries to capture a snapshot within the context of an event…the outcome known only to the observer. Scott shows his work at small galleries and venues where the scale of the work can be better appreciated.

Emilie Riggs Emilie Riggs’ paintings are inspired by borderlines and contrasts. Her style surfs between figurative and abstract. Her brushstroke plays between thick knife textures and fluid pigment runs. Her subjects reflect on boundaries. In this series of seascapes, Emilie reflects on the horizon, the line where sky and sea touch. She also explores how earth and sea meet. Her paintings focus on colour and texture as the essential means to express the delicate space where two different entities come into contact. She works from photographs she takes of places, which inspire her, such as Cornwall and Greece for this series. Half American, half French, Emilie Riggs moved from Paris to London 3 years ago. Upon arriving, she first studied at the Arts Academy and got a Printing Certificate before finding a studio at Kindred Studios, a large community of artists in Notting Hill. She has regularly shown her work in Parisian galleries and her art is collected worldwide.

Phil Davison Phil Davison works predominantly in cross-stitch, fusing this traditional hand stitching technique with imagery from his visual universe, a mix of street art and pop-culture. Creating unique hand stitched pieces alongside limited edition prints of his work, Davison has exhibited internationally and amassed a loyal following of collectors. He is particularly inspired by image reproduction techniques striving to replicate these in cross-stitch. To accurately render and mimic the original technique that inspired its conception demands a high level of precision, some pieces taking over a year of hand stitching to complete. It is exactly this dedication to precision which drives Davison’s evolution of this craft into the realm of fine art.

Andy Davey I paint as a form of free expression. I use a range of media; acrylics for their suitability to quick, dynamic “action” painting, oils for their rich depth of colour and beautiful on-canvas mixing effects and watercolours for their luminosity. My abstract paintings mostly come out of half-sleep or meditation, though sometimes they are inspired by natural landscape. I look for a compositional balance between visual “comfort” and chaos. There is for me a point of beauty between the two, though where that balance point lies and whether I ever reach that point will be subjective for each viewer.

Though classically trained in London, she is essentially ‘self-taught’ CHRISTIE’S ever evolving style remains highly recognizable - edgy, yet polished, with palette knife and brush, working in unison. Her works are mainly figurative through personal experience or observation of others or their shared experiences. This interesting Artist has had exceptional Global success and brought about numerous sell-out shows and availability of works is now becoming the question. Her paintings in oil are timeless snapshots often portraying our paradoxical nature - Strength can become vulnerability, tinged with matters of the heart. The intriguing titles only add to the allure.

The Discerner

Thomas Strumpel I was born in a place along the Rhine River and then some 20 years later, I studied art in Cologne, a hub for art and artists in Germany at that time. I began with drawings but now my focus is on painting. I work with very diluted watercolours, which I apply multiple layers, until depth is reached in the picture. It creates a subtle colour play. The texture of the canvas is evident and becomes part of the painting. I now live in Zurich, Switzerland and in 2015 Elten & Elten Gallery presented my work for which I enjoyed the exposure.
