Dear Siobhán, When we decided to hold a series of public consultation meetings on the new policy on architecture, we wanted venues that appealed to people in the region and that were also of a high architectural quality. The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon satisfied these requirements and also provided several suitable and flexible rooms for our meetings. The staff were more than helpful both in the practical arrangements of organising catering and room layout, but also in publicising the event and website before and after the event, drawing on their links with the community and in the arts world. We had originally looked at holding a meeting in Sligo, but decided to go with the Dock for the above reasons. Out of all our eight meetings, Leitrim had the second highest attendance- no mean feat for the smallest town on our schedule. Part of this success is certainly down to the Dock, to its staff, its fine design and its pivotal position in the regionwe got excellent public engagement here which was not experienced to the same degree elsewhere. Many thanks again for all your help with our event, Kind Regards, Ciara Moloney Architecture Policy Assistant Dept of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government

Sharon Kelly “Once again thanks for everything for the two days, the staff were so helpful and supportive everyone from Brendan to the front of house staff at night, to David in the coffee shop.
