IFI French Film For Schools at The dock Thur 5th Nov, 10.30am, €5 per student (Teachers free) As part of The Dock education programme, we will be showing the IFI (Irish Film Institute) French film, Girlhood. The IFI is Ireland’s national cultural institution for films which promotes moving image culture for young audiences and supports films in school curriculums. This screening is presented in assiocation with IFI Education. Girlhood is a potent coming-or-age story which focuses on a group of black girls living in the tower blocks of Paris. At the centre is Marieme, who has troubles at home, limited job prospects and is intimidated by the boys in her neighbourhood. Things change when she is drawn to an uncomromising, witful teenage girl gang who eventually take her seriously. The film is part of the senior cycle French programme.
