MORE➞
About the Artist Brennan Ware is an artist of unique and rare talent, creating photorealistic paintings that possess a staggering level of intricacy and detail. Ware’s passion is still life painting based on original photographic images. Wine bottles, beer bottles, and glasses are among his favorite subjects.
Stella Artois
still life painting
Brennan painstakingly mixes paint colors in many shades to accurately reproduce every color, tone and shade that was in every still life arrangement . Many shades of green, yellow and gold were mixed and applied to this Stella Artois painting. Notice the detail in lettering, reflections, gold rim, and the bend in the cap. The difference in color and shape of the wood grain as it passes behind the clear glass. The amber colors in the beer, and the green variations in the Stella Artois bottle. Every detail, color, shape and shade is reproduced in amazing detail.

The paintings are comprised of four layers. The pencil sketch and burnt sienna layers give the painting a depth and color unachievable by any other method. The oil color burn sienna is applied with a brush and the highlights are removed with cotton swabs.
Hand Crafted Case Having an extensive career in fine woodworking, Brennan found a way to combine years of building furniture and antique reproduction with his wine bottle still life paintings. These cases help to protect the paintings from damage when traveling. “I built this case from rough sawn cherry and it was finished with four coats of varnish. I made my own inlays on this latest case using Italian birds eye maple, Blood wood, and soft maple” he informed us. He will be building a handmade case like this for every original oil painting in the future. Each case will have a full mortise lock and key, with two nickel hinges. This case measures 24 1/2 x 33 3/4

Brush strokes on all of Ware’s paintings can be seen from a distance of about 12 inches. Apart from the brush strokes and his signature, his paintings are almost indistinguishable from the original photograph. This original oil painting on linen measures 24 inches by 36 inches.

A pencil sketch is the second step in creating the artwork. The first step is applying multiple coats of gesso to the linen.

Brennan uses a centuries old, rarely used, Dutch Master’s technique to bring intense, realistic color and depth to the painting. The “burnt sienna step is a time consuming, but integral part, of the finished artwork.
