Nurturing the growth and development of a child is truly a collaborative effort, and we are excited to partner with you in this endeavor. Just as each child’s Ensworth experience is unique, the variety of opportunities for your involvement will enable you to have your own distinct experience as part of this community. To that end, we have put together this brochure with information to help in your transition and to inform you of the different avenues for your engagement in all that is Ensworth. Mission Statement

Ensworth is a kindergarten through twelfth grade, coeducational independent school. The School promotes academic excellence and inspires students to be intellectually curious, to use their talents to the fullest, to be people of integrity, and to be contributors to society.

We envision a school community dedicated to following the highest principles with the greatest love, as characterized by moral integrity, intellectual vitality, discipline, compassion, humor, and joy.

Ensworth offers enrichment camps, sports camps, and academic courses during the summer for ages four and up. Two camps in particular help prepare new students for the Ensworth experience: Junior Camp for rising Kindergarten and Grade 1, and Introduction to Ensworth for rising Grades 9-12. Schedules and information regarding summer athletic practices for Middle School and High School athletics will be available online beginning April 22. The TSSA A Dead Period is in effect Sunday, June 23 through Saturday, July 6.

In Grades K-8, Ensworth provides all textbooks necessary for course work. In Grades 9-12, parents purchase textbooks for their students according to their class schedule. High School parents will receive their students’ schedules in early July and may order textbooks from Follett (Ensworth’s official textbook vendor) or another source. Instructions for ordering books from Follett will be included on the “Starting School 2019- High School” Resource Board in mid-May. TIGER BU DDIES A ND MENTOR S

New families in Grades K-8 will be paired with a Tiger Buddy family, a current family who will offer assistance in the months leading up to school. New students in Grades 9-12 will be connected with a mentor student during the summer.

COMMUNITY EVE NTS

Community Events The Ensworth calendar is full of opportunities to connect with other members of the community. In addition to the many arts events and athletic competitions throughout the year, there are also occasions that bring together all Ensworth families, as well as gatherings organized specifically for Ensworth parents. Listed below are some of these community-building events. PA R E N T N I G H T S AT E N S W O R T H

Parent Nights provide important startof-school information and give parents an opportunity to hear from school administrators and meet teachers. PA R E N T G AT H E R I N G S

Casual, grade-level parent gatherings are held in the fall and are hosted at parents’ homes. Details will be sent out through emails and E-News closer to these events. HOMECOMING A LL-COMMUNITY TA I L GAT E

Ensworth hosts an all-community tailgate in conjunction with the Homecoming celebration. The picnic is held in the quad on the High School Campus prior to the football game and includes dinner, music, and children’s activities.

PA N C A K E B R E A K FA S T

The Pancake Breakfast is a long-standing Ensworth tradition. Grade 8 students, parents, and faculty prepare breakfast for the Ensworth community, and proceeds from the ticket sales are donated to a non-profit chosen by the students. G R A N D PA R E N T S D AY S

Each campus hosts a Grandparents Day where grandparents are invited to visit classrooms, tour the school, and enjoy student performances. TIGER NIGHT

TIGER NIGHT is the largest social gathering of the year for Ensworth parents and raises funds for the Parent Association and the school. S U P E R S AT U R DAY

Super Saturday is a fun, family carnival day that includes a Tiger Trot run, games, food, and prizes.

Family members are always assigned to the same team, adding a generational element to the tradition.
