From the Head of school Dear Ensworth Community, In keeping with the Ensworth motto “In Search of Truth,” we are always asking ourselves the critical question, “how can we continue to get better as a school?” It is this commitment to improvement that drives development in our programs, innovation in our teaching methods, and enhancements to our facilities. Ensworth continues to be a forwardlooking institution, and I can state with confidence that our future as a school has never been brighter. While it is exciting to look at the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of us as a school, we can never forget that our future is built upon the strong foundation of our past. The unique qualities that have always been integral to the Ensworth experience remain an important part of the school going forward. Given the significance of balancing the future with the past, it seems appropriate that, as we begin the 2014-15 school year, we take this opportunity to acknowledge your support of Ensworth during the past year.

F r o m t h e P RES I DENT OF T H E B O A RD The highlight of my Ensworth adventure was the honor of presenting excited graduates in the Class of 2014 their diplomas at Graduation. I shared in at least some of their emotions: the realization that a once-in-a-lifetime experience was ending, a sense of happy anticipation, and the conviction that some wonderful opportunities still lay ahead. I continue to appreciate the opportunity to attend Ensworth, the opportunity to send my three children to Ensworth, and the opportunity to continue to serve as Trustee for Ensworth. As I concluded my term as President this summer, I find that there are some striking similarities between those very excited graduating seniors and the school as a whole: Support – our students were supported by the care and talent of an amazing group of professional educators, and our school was supported by an equally amazing community of parents, alumni, grandparents, parents of alumni, faculty, staff, and friends giving time, talents, and financial support.

to be people of integrity Vision for the future – Our seniors confidently wore the T-shirts of their future college homes for their group photo, knowing that they are prepared for the adventures ahead as they become adults who will work, create families and contribute to their communities. Ensworth School can also look ahead to the future with confidence, based on the thoughtful work and leadership that makes defining the vision and goals for the school an integral part of the ongoing Board process. So, a congratulatory handshake was given to each graduate as he or she crossed the stage, and congratulations are due to each of you who helped make the Ensworth experience possible for each student and family. The fact that Ensworth moves forward with its largest enrollment in the school’s history and with incredible support from the entire school community is worthy of a shout and a cap toss – and a most sincere thank you!

Achievement – the members of the Class of 2014 completed a challenging academic curriculum, gained admission to 121 colleges, chose to attend 49 different schools, participated in successful athletic competitions, staged numerous plays, concerts and art exhibits, and served some 100 community agencies during their time on campus. Our school provided these programs and opportunities for these seniors and some 900 younger students with excellence and with care for the individual.
