s technology continues to allow more efficiencies, and its effectiveness has been confirmed, companies and educational institutions are adopting the digital world as an alternative being hostage to real estate investments. Not only is it cost effective but the impact on the environment is significant as proven during the initial COVID pandemic that shut world travel down, creating an 11% decline in CO2 emissions that put us back to 2009 levels. Many companies have committed to continuing virtual work and learning environments as many saw performance increases by as much as 47%. Considerations for shared workspace where an employee might come in 2 days a week and work from home 3 days with another employees coming in on alternate dates are being considered. Most employees prefer the virtual environment. Not only do they save between $2,000 and $6,000 per year in work-based expenses, but the frustration of rush hour traffic and the loss of several hours from their day is significantly reduced. Educational institutions and companies beginning to embrace virtual education and training and exploring enhanced teaching and learning techniques that virtual technology can bring them. These include ways to keep the people engaged, optimize the learning experience and identify what each person did during class. Jigsaw Interactive is one of the leading companies providing technology for virtual training and

education. Jigsaw is the only solution that was designed specifically for teaching and learning. Their technology offers a robust and easy to use platform focused on optimizing learning and understanding. They are known for their interactive learning experience, the personalization for each participant and the multiple ways a virtual class can be executed. They have a large customer base in all sectors of business and education. Jigsaw Interactive wants to change the face and reputation of virtual training and education. Their innovative technology, unparalleled customer service and their commitment to continual innovation to meet the changing demands of their customers are what sets them apart. The Company and Their Road to Success Jigsaw Interactive is a technology company that specializes in virtual training, education, and learning through its intuitively advanced platform. Their technology optimizes the learning experience by providing multiple ways through which the participants can engage during learning sessions. Jigsaw’s multi-dimensional platform allows every individual to actively look at information in the way they learn and work. It offers many immersive and engaging opportunities so, as the facilitator manages the session, they can easily engage participants on either an individual or group level. With unique capabilities like customizable break out rooms, recordable role-play rooms and multi-screen sharing, Jigsaw is truly an immersive, dynamic, powerful, and best-in-class virtual
learning environment. Every company, and educational institution, strives to provide the best learning and work environment for their employees, students, and customers. Company survival depends on having employees whose performance and productivity meets identified goals while schools are focused on test results and overall student performance. To help ensure goals are met, instructors need the ability to understand what’s happening during class, training, work projects, etc. Whether that’s through testing, evaluations or other means, being able to collect and easily analyze data helps in understanding whether their educational programs are effective. Jigsaw’s engagement and performance analytics provide an understanding of what happens during class, training, or project work. These analytics assist in identifying individual and group learning, engagement, and performance behaviors. They also provide valuable information around the teaching and leadership styles of instructors, and the learning and work styles of participants. The goal of these analytics is continual quality improvement and increased learning and performance, so organizations know where they, or their team, fall short. This provides the necessary information to put remedial processes in place so they can work toward meeting projected performance goals. Some of the initial challenges faced by Jigsaw were competing with giant, well-known companies,
building a marketing program to gain brand awareness on a limited budget, getting companies and educational institutions to try their services as they were relatively new to the industry. The next stepping stone was getting people to understand the differentiating factors between Jigsaw and video/web-conferencing systems. Companies often lump training in the same category as meetings, so assumptions are made that a webconferencing system will work just fine, but in reality, it is completely different. The initial challenges helped them understand the what companies face and how traditional webconferencing systems fall short of meeting the needs of learning and development departments. This information helped them develop the best technology and services with the focus on customer needs. The company’s growth can be credited to their unparallel service and their unique technology. Partnering with the second largest virtual school in the country and, in working closely with them they achieved significant improvements in their student and school results had a huge impact on their growth. When they introduced their solution on HTML5/WebRTC, it further enhanced their capabilities and growth. The next big step was securing several well-known companies that became anchor accounts and offered to be references to their technological strength and their customer care program. Factors adding to the growth of Jigsaw Interactive Jigsaw Interactive believes www.theenterpriseworld.com | 11
innovation and change are the keys to success. Their solution was designed with learning in mind. Their platform was built by a team of experts along with the knowledge feedback from teachers, trainers, and students of all ages. The end users know what they need and want, so Jigsaw incorporated their customers’ input with their technical and business knowledge to deliver the best-inclass virtual learning environment. Their corporate mantra is ICARE. 12 | April 2021

Their customer care starts
internally through a commitment to each employee and each other. - Accountability: They hold every team member accountable for delivering the best experience to their customers. - Results: Their priority is to have their customers experience better results through their technology. By utilizing the key components of Jigsaw, everyone has an opportunity to truly engage and immerse themselves in a highly
responsive virtual learning environment. - Excellence: They are, and will always be, focused on delivering the highest level of excellence to their customers. have received staggering amounts of praises and through the roof ratings for their customer service program and the commitment of their team to ensuring their client’s success. The services defining Jigsaw Interactive, new additions, and the factors setting the company apart Jigsaw Interactive provides a virtual learning environment that meet the unique needs of training,
teaching, and learning for both corporate and educational organizations. Their platform bridges the gap between teachers and students by providing effective learning tools that lets them work together in virtual environment. Offering teachers a virtual classroom that includes all types of media while giving them the ability to get students involved is an important factor in learning success. Offering students a classroom that www.theenterpriseworld.com | 13

is inclusive and immersive while allowing them easy access to the information and learning tools changes their learning dynamics and helps improve their overall success. Teaching professionals need a platform that allows lots of engagement and project work, where they can use all kinds of content and resources. It’s not about offering lecture-based programs, it’s about delivering information in a learning environment that gives participants the chance to review information and engage in brainstorming to create potential solutions. Social learning is another important factor in the learning equation. People need to connect with other people during class to question the information they are learning by either debating with the instructor and the class, or simply putting the questions out there for everyone to think about. On-demand programs, while they have great content and are convenient, do not provide the social aspects of learning. Jigsaw offers tools that encourage social learning and team project work. Jigsaw is always innovating to ensure their technology keeps up with the changing needs of their customers and the industries. They are always working to ensure the various tools are super responsive. They launched their new in-class assessments this year and they will begin working on the next version which will give more options and reporting metrics. Their Learning Behavior and Performance Analytics Dashboard provides detailed information about everyone’s learning journey. Being 14 | April 2021
able to quickly access this information confirms learning, learning styles, teaching styles, curriculum design and many other data points that helps companies and schools improve their overall learning programs. Factors proving Jigsaw’s excellence in the virtual learning space Jigsaw’s technology offers a multidimensional virtual learning environment that has more tools available for instructors and participants than if they are in a traditional classroom. Because we all learn differently, and absorb information at different speeds, the learners have the ability to focus on a specific piece of information without interrupting the instructor or holding the group back. - Jigsaw’s tools work together simultaneously so instructors can play a video, review a document or presentation, annotate on the information, drop details to the whiteboard while getting feedback or information from the group through a collaborative board. We live and work in a multidimensional world so when learning, being able to review information in a multi-dimensional format not only makes learning more interesting, it makes sense. - Jigsaw provides information back to the instructor that help identify areas for student improvement and curriculum modification. Their Learning Behavior and Performance Analytics Dashboard offers a variety of information surrounding how participants learn, what tools most people prefer in a learning environment, what tools instructors are using, what level of
engagement classes are getting, etc. These analytics can be sorted in numerous ways so schools and companies can continue to improve class content, teaching methods, and engagement projects. - At Jigsaw, the customer is always the focus. They have a superior customer service program that includes account management and a technical support team. They value every customer and constantly work to improve everything they do. Their team works together to provide the best possible solution to the customer. - Communication is the key to working together and they have built a system of communication tools that allow the entire organization to know what’s happening and who’s “owning” the question or concern from their customers. Their team’s commitment goes beyond taking care of the customer, they take care of each other. They believe that their team is their most valuable asset and ensuring the team knows how critical they are to the company’s success and how much they are appreciated is a part of their winning formula. The management team understands that life happens, so employees know they can take care of those life events when necessary and other team members are there to assist. CEO’s entrepreneurial journey and achievements The company’s success is a result of many things including a team of highly skilled experts that have their finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the technology and virtual learning space. working day and night to see your vision come to fruition and doing so with continual inadequate budgets and funding. It means hard work, super hard work but with the satisfaction that when you succeed, you did it with the team that you put your faith in.” she goes on to say. “If it weren’t for entrepreneurs, there would be no Apple, no Microsoft and no Hewlett Packard. These and many more companies started as a dream and a desire to do something that would improve people’s lives. That’s what we’re doing at Jigsaw Interactive.” Josette was born an entrepreneur and was running her first business at the age of 11. She started in middle school, selling roasted pumpkin seeds and cinnamon toothpicks, quickly learning the value of hard work and profit margins. She realized that providing value for the money spent is what people wanted. She realized that she had to add the cost of her time into the cost of the product if she was going to be successful and make money.
only as effective as their leader, and for a company like Jigsaw, the leadership must a be a visionary and a realist. Jigsaw is fortunate to have Josette Fleszar as their CEO and President. Josette believes the responsibilities of an entrepreneur is varied. “You have to be a risk taker and you have to believe in the team you put 16 | April 2021
together, more than you believe in anything.” stated Josette. “An entrepreneur identifies a need and creates the possibility to supply that need in a way that no one else has thought about. It means pushing the envelope to do more with less, having the vision through proper planning and communication, to build the solution with hope and faith at the foundation. It means
At the age of 13, she was lucky enough to be taken under the wing of another entrepreneur who owned her own healthcare company. She started filing papers in the office after school, learning the ropes of billing and collecting money for hospitals and using the values her parents instilled in her; do your best, be honest, and work hard. By the age of 17, she was meeting with hospital accounts receivable departments to help them identify how their services could help them collect more money, faster.
When she turned 35, she started her own company, with her dream team and spent 4 years building Receivables Process Management (RPM). In 2004, they were awarded the Second Fastest Growing Woman-Owned business in Georgia and the Fifth Fastest Growing company in Atlanta. Not long after that, they sold that business. Today it is a division within the United Healthcare group. She decided to leave healthcare after 30 years, so with some of her old dream team, she started Jigsaw Interactive. Jigsaw is a virtual learning platform. Our goal is to provide an engaging learning experience for students of all ages. “We are all lifelong learners, and we all bring our unique characteristics and learning/work styles to everything we do.” says Josette. “Having a learning environment that lets each of us review information and focus on certain things without impacting other participants during a session, makes a difference in how much learning and engagement is done.” Growing a new business to the second fastest-growing womanowned business and the second fastest-growing company in Georgia are some of her biggest achievements. Her second biggest achievement has been the number of young, single moms who she mentored as a result of them working for her at RPM. Many young women weren’t as lucky as she was so they didn’t believe they could be successful. Mentoring them allowed her to instill the many values and lessons her parents gave her. She was amazed at how just a little encouragement and appreciation turned these
women into a powerful team where their confidence and success grew daily. What makes the Jigsaw team so special? They believe that people are the very most important part of everything they do. It is always people that make the difference. You can build anything, it can be beautiful and shiny but in the end the beauty and shine fade. It’s the people who continue to make it shiny. So taking care of your team is of critical importance. Everyone on the team is an integral part of the Jigsaw family. They work together to ensure the customer and each are taken care of. They celebrate wins and review their challenges as a team. We “shout out” those who have made a difference to a client and as corny as it sounds, we all have clappers that we use during team meetings to announce those who have been extremely helpful to someone. Active and vocal appreciation goes a long way. Most people are too busy to take the time to acknowledge the work that has gone into helping a customer or coming up with a great idea. We believe these little things work to make the big things happen and we recognize that for and to everyone. Through the dedication of our team, the unique characteristics and capabilities of our technology and in partnership with one of our customers, working together they saw a decrease of 43.2% in their school’s Close the Gap scores after a single semester. They saw a 70% reduction in student inactivity during that same time. This meant students were engaging in class.
Another school won a national science competition using Jigsaw. Their science project was built, reviewed and demonstrated in Jigsaw. They won the competition and their project was sent to the International Space Station. Companies are getting internal feedback that, what used to be boring and drawn out training is now engaging because they have the ability to review information and own their learning experience. Regardless of the type of training being done, our customers are seeing a shift in how their employees regard and participate in virtual training. Small group learning is easier and more effective in Jigsaw’s customizable break out rooms. Others are successfully running virtual software training labs that allows their trainees to work in the software while the trainers look over their shoulders virtually. This is saving companies thousands of dollars and reducing training times to less than 50% because they no longer have to be on-site at every office or plant for these software labs to be held successfully. Virtual sales and product training is more impactful because role play rooms are available and can be recorded. The goal of training and education is to improve learning and performance. The goal of Jigsaw is to improve engagement and learning, The sum of these two goals is that overall engagement is increasing which means learning and retention are improving. That translates into better performance and productivity.

Why is a measurement of Market Performance important?
18 | April 2021
F
inding the effectiveness of a particular product or service is a very important part of any company or business. It not only tells a great deal about the uses of the company’s products/services, their reach, the age group or demography of their consumers, etc., and also if the marketing and sales plans for the same are effective or can be enhanced for further reach and awareness. Thus, evaluating the performance of the market becomes highly important as it does not only talk about the overall performance and growth of the market but also help in understanding the future projections of the same which can be used by companies and businesses to effectively plan and place their products and services for the changing time and trends. Therefore, market performance and its estimation become one of the foremost responsibilities of existing and new companies as it can help them achieve their targets and goals in a much easier and effectively planned way which can not only lead to less incurred costs but also give them the ability to keep in sync with the turbulences that the market and changing circumstances may throw at them. It’s all about the performance. Performance measurement is one of the most vital tools for efficient and holistic business growth and development as it consists of many metrics which can be used to not only enhance the business and the reach of the products and services but also to make viable changes to the management and other strategies. Marketing metrics not only help in evaluating the performance of the marketing team but also displays the regions which

could use planning and better implementation. Also, social media metric is included in this as it has become a core part of marketing especially for those companies that use multiple modes for marketing. Then comes the use of Sales metrics as it calculates the overall efficiency of the sales team and this also includes SaaS metrics which is extremely useful for those companies which sell software as their products and services. Performance measurement helps contribute to better understanding the planning and implementation of different strategies used by the company. Performance measurement involves using financial metrics which gives a complete breakdown of how much money a company is making and how well that money is being managed, this ensures a transparent and smooth financial process which is always the right ingredient for shareholders or potential investors. There is also one other metric which is called a general business metric, this helps to understand other related aspects of a business such as a project run down, service level, etc. and as these services are checked on a real-time basis, this performance measurement tool indicates areas for further development and gives an overall idea of the health and growth statistics of a company or business.
Performance measurement in short grants the company or business to see the future projections with the help of real-time data which gives accurate and scalable solutions, so the companies can adopt or change their approach or strategies accordingly, making sure that the changing trends and competition in the market are always kept in check and a controlled environment is made for the company to grow in. Upsize or Downsize? Performance measurement consists of many resourceful and important tools to better map the performance and efficiency of a company or business which can not only help the company better understand their planning and strategies but also provide a holistic view of how their working is being taken into the market and how their sales, etc. are getting affected by the steps taken by different departments of the company such as marketing, accounting, etc. Performance measurement to this day proves to be one of the most crucial steps any company or business takes to not only remain ahead of the competition but also to achieve the growth and success they desire. This not only lays out the weak areas of a company but gives them solid ideas to work upon and change the figures of the company.

Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, institutions around the world have doubled down their hybrid learning structures to ensure academic continuity and provide students with the best learning experience. In 2020, the pandemic lockdown regulations unexpectedly moved teaching & learning online, and accelerated the educational industry’s need for digital transformation. For the past year, institutions have been adapting their traditional methods of teaching and learning by integrating Educational Technology and online tools.

The company and its journey.
Such rapid change brought on a new set of challenges, including promoting the adoption of newly implemented technologies, tracking how faculty and students engage with online learning tools, communicating online, and supporting users when options for face-to-face interactions are limited or non-existent. There are challenges to achieving an ideal teaching and learning experience, but they can be overcome. Several companies are offering a variety of services that address these institutional pain points, but very few provide a comprehensive solution to all of the challenges in the way that EesySoft does. EesySoft is the EdTech Adoption Platform that helps institutions maximize the value of their investments in educational technology. use to streamline online support processes for students and faculty. EesySoft also aims to boost its customer-centric operations by developing features based on customer feedback from their community. Looking ahead, EesySoft plans to expand its partner and reseller network and develop deeper

he world of education never stops and never stops learning, no matter the circumstances, education finds its way to reach the hearts and minds of all those who wish to learn, who wish to do some course, or those who wish to boost their careers. Please tell us about eTutorWorld and the initial challenges the company faced. eTutorWorld offers world-class one-to-one online tutoring and test preparation services for students in grades K-12. Our goal is to support parents and offer what students need to be successful as an individual, in a welcoming and supportive community. Founded in 2008 in Glen Arbor, Michigan, and Bangalore, India, we realized tutoring could be made much more affordable and convenient, that too without compromising on the quality of education provided to students. Our team has a collective experience of more than 100 years in education and technology. All eTutorWorld tutors are highly experienced and go through a rigorous selection process. We select only the best of the best! While all our Tutors are qualified, knowledgeable, and patient, they are also mentors who provide the guidance your child needs to

succeed. We’re not just here to be their educators, but to also help them be more confident and independent. One of the most initial and I would say the biggest challenges we faced was acceptance. We started back in 2008, at that time online education was unheard of. The internet was still new to a majority of the population at the time and online learning was somewhat prevalent only at college campuses. So, convincing people that their kids can learn online was a tough task. Tell us about the factors that led eTutorWorld to the monuments of success. eTutorWorld saw tremendous growth after we took a conscious decision to invest in Search Engine Optimization, digital marketing, and online advertising. We also saw a tremendous surge when we expanded our sales team. Over the years, the acceptance of online learning also fuelled our growth. When we started, we were sure of one thing, that we will always focus on creating a strong core team. I know for a fact that when you have the right people working for you, success is just about time. From Day 1 we collaborated with people who are the best at their job and have a penchant for challenging the norms. We applied 26 | April 2021
this rule to everyone from top to bottom, even to the interns and freshers. As a result, now we have a team that knows our values and has in a way created the brand that we are today. After the core team, we turned to hire expert tutors. We are not a marketplace. We do not just connect parents with tutors and get done with it. We handpick our tutors after careful consideration (several rounds of testing and interviews). The selection is followed by training where we prepare the tutors for teaching in the online classrooms and prepare them for the good and bad of working with technology and little minds. This is around two weeks of training, after which, we allow them to take classes and become a part of eTutorWorld’s winning team. The company sales have grown 100% during the financial year 2020-21 as compared to the previous FY. Tell us about the unrivalled educational services of eTutorWorld, any new additions, and the factors that set these services apart from the competition in the market. Our company is focused on personalized online tutoring and
test prep for K-12 in the US market. At eTutorWorld, we are focused on “Structured and Personalized long-term tutoring”. Most of the larger players of the industry on the other hand “Ondemand instant homework help”. So, we are different at the very basic level and intend to set our path, even going forward. As I already mentioned, eTutorWorld is not a marketplace, instead, we have dedicated and qualified tutors (graduates and above) offering better quality tutoring at affordable pricing. Yes, there are various new offerings this year. Virtual Learning Pods (VLPs) is one of the offerings for small groups (2 to 6). It provides personalized tutoring to every student in the group. In recent times, students have experienced severe learning loss and we believe that this kind of affordable, small group tutoring can help them tremendously. We are also coming up with many advanced products such as a new worksheet tool with adaptive testing, diagnostic reports, etc. Also, you will soon hear about our gamification and AI/ML-based offerings. We have been observing the market closely and how the education sector is at a new normal. To adapt to the wider adoption of online learning in general, we are actively stepping up our capacity to
serve a wider audience. Our goal is to provide access to all those sections of society who could not afford online tutoring earlier. We have also been working on multiple products and process innovations to achieve personalization at scale. Tell us about your professional experience and the highlights of your professional journey. Right now, I am working as the CEO of eTutorWorld. Before founding eTutorWorld, I was working with Unisys India’s Country Manager and Managing Director. I have lived and worked across the globe and picked up critical experience in management and business. Some other brands that I had a chance to work with are Tata Consulting, CitiBank, and Deutsche Bank. In my entrepreneurial journey, my biggest achievement and satisfaction is to be able to help thousands of students in the USA in their studies especially during the covid period, high customer satisfaction with no customer disputes, generate employment or supplementary income for more than 50 persons in India, being able to pay them on time always without any delay or default, maintain an impeccable clean business reputation and contribute to society by paying taxes. Tell us about the work culture and team of eTutorWorld. The work culture at eTutorWorld can be defined with one word, ‘responsibility’. We have clubbed it with ‘freedom’ to create individuals who are strong-headed, independent, and committed to the

growth of the company. At eTutorWorld, every person works with a sense of responsibility and they have all the freedom to make decisions towards the betterment of processes. This is the reason; I have always stressed hiring capable and ready people. Individuals who are ready to dive nose-first into their jobs and get results from day one. People can be trained with best practices but they can never be taught to learn new things and to paint a picture beyond authority and definitions. Your take on the competition in the market and its effect on you. We believe in operating in a competitive market as it keeps us on our toes and pushes us to innovate continuously. Most of our competitors operate in a marketplace model and are focused on providing on-off ad-hoc help to students looking for help with their homework. We want to enable our
students to be able to do their homework without help, based on what they have learned, what they know. We provide long-term learning through our expert tutors and prepare them for a future where they might be on their own. Since all our tutors are based in India, we manage to offer topquality tutoring and some of the most affordable rates in the market right now. So, I think it’s the competitors who need to think about coping with us actually, we are already one step ahead. Of Course, competition is one of the most effective motivating factors. It makes you contemplate, ‘what you can do better than your competitor?’. It pushes you to create better products and services that are unique to your brand. So far, our competitors have made us give our best in every way and I am hoping it gets even better from here.

COLOMBO THE COMMERCIAL CAPITAL OF
Sri Lanka

n the south of India, there is an island in the Indian Ocean bound by India, which is named Sri Lanka. The distance of the country is only 32 kilometers from India. By 1972, its name was Ceylon, which was changed to Lanka and in 1978 it was further changed to Sri Lanka by adding the word honorable Sri. Sri Lanka has had an unbroken relationship with India since ancient times. Colombo is a capital and a largest city in Sri Lanka. The city is a beautiful combination of new and colonial buildings. The history of Colombo is more than two thousand years old. There are many stories behind the name Colombo. According to one story, the name Colombo was first spelled by the Portuguese in 1505 AD. According to the second story, the name came from the Sinhalese word ‘kola-amba-thota’. In Sinhalese, the word means ‘port with mango trees’. According to another story, the word came from Cologne-Thota,
30 | April 2021
which literally means ‘port on the Kelani River’. There are many places to visit here. The Galle Face Green, Viharamhadevi Park and the National Museum are some of the major sights here. Colombo is a natural harbor; hence it has been associated with various countries since ancient times. Traders from Rome, Arabia and China have been coming here since 2000 years. The famous traveler Ibn Batuta came here in the 14th century. He mentions Colombo as Calampu. Arab traders began to settle here from around the 8th century. This was followed by Portuguese, Dutch and British respectively. Eventually the British captured this country in 1815 AD. In 1948 they got freedom from British Rulers and became an independent nation.
The Economy Sri Lanka has a historic prospect of progressing from a low-income country to a middle-income country in perpetual peace. Sri Lanka’s development has reached a critical stage. Sri Lanka is on track to become a mature middle-income country, with per capita income reaching $ 1.00 billion by 2010 and rapid economic growth, which has traditionally reached a high level of human development. Port and cargo handling are major promises for the development of Sri Lanka’s economy. The government will benefit from the capital as it is closer to international shipping routes. Sri Lanka has been lacking international shipping operations for the last two decades due to terrorist acts. As a result, foreign exchange gained less. The end of this conflict has given the Sri Lankan government an opportunity to invest in new port projects to increase the country’s GDP. Tea exports are in high demand. Other contributions in the country are positive weather patterns, proper use of fertilizers and economic recovery. Apart from Hambantota Harbor, one of the largest fishing harbors recently is the government of the Eastern Province. The decision to build a port in the Eastern Province was taken by the government as part of a broader infrastructure development campaign aimed at improving quality of life and economic growth. Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is improving after the war and showing a spectacular path since the end of
the war last year and the number of foreign tourists in the country has increased. The reopening of the highway in northern part, devastated by decades of conflict, is leading to an economic revival, the mainland route that connects the southern mainland to the main Jaffna peninsula. Among the promising enterprises in the region, the food processing and especially the canned fish industry has a large share. The outbreak of Covid-19 has weakened the outlook as the already challenging macro-economic situation intensified due to low growth rates and significant financial pressures. Inflation remained subdued despite weak demand. According to the Colombo Consumer Price Index, the average annual inflation in June 2020 was 4.7 percent. The outbreak of free inflation and Covid-19 has prompted the central bank to cut credit policy several times in the first half of 2020 and bring policy rates down to 150 1,150. Basis points

Must Visit Places • Vihar Mahadevi Park It is a public park. This beautiful park is in front of the Town Hall, built in the colonial style. The park is named after the mother of the famous king Dutugamunu. This park was built during the British rule. At that time this park was known as Victoria Park after Queen Victoria. • Galle face green It is the most famous tourist destination in Colombo. It was developed in 1859 AD by the then British Governor of Sri Lanka, Sir Henry Ward. At that time this place was used for horse racing and golf play, besides the excursion. The original Galle Face Green covered a much larger area than the present. • Colombo National Museum This museum was established on 1 January 1877 AD. It was founded by the then British Governor Sir William Henry George. This museum is in the Seenaman area. The museum has jewelery and the throne of Sri Vikram Rajasinghe, the last king of Sri Lanka. The British captured Vikram Rajasinghe and captured Sri Lanka. The art gallery of this museum is not very rich. Here is a small collection of Sri Lankan handicrafts. • World Trade Centre This twin building is the tallest building in Sri Lanka. Construction of this 40-storey building was completed in 1997 AD. This building is a major center of attraction for the tourists visiting here. Seema Malakya Temple, Jami ul Alfar Mosque, Murugan Hindu Temple and Veera Lake are other places of interest in Colombo.

Let’s hear more about OfCourseMe, the company’s services, and the CEO’s professional journey. Please tell us about OfCourseMe and the starting challenges of the company’s journey. OfCourseMe is transforming learning culture and behavior. We offer a full-service solution centered around the concept of content aggregation, search, recommendation, and curation for our customers. As regards the market we think OfCourseMe has unique capabilities when it comes to delivering solutions that integrate well into existing learning ecosystems; we also excel in content scraping and tagging, as well as in content curation, marketing, and people analytics. attractive to Learning Managers who are struggling to deliver learning pathways at scale with nimble teams and shrinking budgets. Creating a learning culture has to do with daily behaviors and routine, which is grounded in relationships with management and peers. For this reason, we are consistently investing in the social aspects of learning, from sharing comments and views about contents, to notify users about their colleagues’ relevant interactions with contents. In parallel, we are improving our search, ranking, and recommendation functions to provide users with results that are more and more personal, hence relevant. Learning culture is about people, hence we believe in a technology that is helpful for human beings. Mapping contents vs. skill sets is a set of features in high demand in these months as upskilling and reskilling need to be grounded in skills and continuous performance appraisal/feedback loops to identify gaps. On top of this, we are going towards our first million content 36 | April 2021
sources organized in OfCourseMe, which allow us to serve learning contents in over 20 languages, 160 topics, countless formats, and – of course – skills. We do have a very structured 12-18 months product roadmap, which we evolve and update every quarter using weighing and discussing users’ feedback, behavioral data analysis, and R&D, within an Agile framework. Please tell us about your professional journey and any highlights you wish to share. I have graduated in Industrial Engineering in Milano, 6 years in Management Consulting, 5 years as BI Director and CFO. Then, in early 2017, the decision to create something from scratch. Closing 6-digit deals with some of the largest companies in Europe, flagship customers we are proud to serve. Growing with a Team of 20 exceptional people, sharing the same passion, values, and ambitions.
At OfCourseMe I and Francesco started with this concept of building a working culture centered around the same values we foster with our solution: transparency, accountability, integrity, curiosity, and empathy. OfCourseMe never had an HQ - a physical office - but we worked remotely from the beginning, way before the pandemic forced most people home. You can do this only if you trust your people and they trust you. You need to create and reinforce the right culture, as well as put in place the right processes. Your take on the competition in the market and how it affects you or the company? We prefer to focus on our customers and people rather than being obsessed with what our competitors claim. There is a lot of buzz and “marketing” in the EdTech business. Everybody boasts that they have the most innovative and disruptive technology, etc. Instead of following such “company bragging” exercises – which we find sterile actually – we like to remind ourselves that what matters is our customers’ success, and this has mostly to do with granting high service levels, communicating well, helping our customers achieve measurable goals. What brings out the best is not competition per se, but rather setting high expectations with ourselves and our customers and finding a way to hit/exceed them, no matter what.

mYngle LANGUAGE AT YOUR FINGERTIPS!
O
nline education has proved to be one of the most effective ways of teaching and learning alike. Teachers are not only able to impart students effectively but also in a more engaging way and the students have the luxury to attend these at the luxury of their space and time, also enabling a more focused environment among both of them. This rise in online educations and its demand has given rise to learning culture among the population, thus, people are looking forward to more interesting and unique courses, workshops, etc. to not only enhance their knowledge, give a boost to their career, but also to learn something they always wished to but did not have the time to go out and attend the same. Courses, workshops, etc. are important but languages are the most interesting course which has always pulled a lot of people towards it but only a few could attend it due to the same issues with every other physical class. Now, since these courses are available to you over the internet, you should invoke that polyglot in you and attend these language courses from one of the best online platforms.
mYngle is one of the best when it comes to looking for a place to learn languages. They are not only the experts of providing these courses online but it is due to their delivery and manner in which they conduct these courses which have not only made them a highly popular company in this niche but have also established a dominant place among the competition in the market. make their investment a success. Building a business from scratch is always challenging, building a tech start-up disrupting an industry as traditional as that of education is exponentially more challenging (especially more than 10 years ago, when we started). When we started, we were pioneering, amongst the first to provide one-to-one teaching of all languages over the internet. That meant that we had to bypass all sorts of resistances - those of a still immature market- especially the stereotypes that consumers had in their minds about education. Now online language education is setting the standards in terms of quality and flexibility. And we have been part of that. Tell us about the services offered by mYngle and the factors that 40 | April 2021
keep these services ahead of the competition in the market. In mYngle we nurture an obsession for customer satisfaction, and this is also one of our key strengths. We look to continuously improve our service. We do so by constantly listening to users’ feedback and improving accordingly, as well as leveraging new technologies to our advantage. This is also reflected in our internal evaluation systems and how we assess our job. We constantly monitor our users’ reactions and try to adjust accordingly, using adapted versions of NPS (Net Promoter Score), which defines that only excellence counts. Our average lessons’ scores are 4.9/5.0. And our first corporate customer is still with us, 10 years later… Results speak for themselves!
mYngle was one of the pioneers in live online (language) training, so now that we are at the cross-road, we can benefit from many years of experience and proven capabilities to deliver successful online training. Innovation needs to add real value, everything should start and end with the customer. I order to achieve innovation, being agile is paramount. Throughout the past years, a lot has changed, in technology, needs of customers, economy, and now COVID. We’ve been able to secure our position as one of the leaders in our segment by being diligent to build solid principles, work processes, and a team that has the capability and will to change and adapt according to our always evolving surroundings. Tell us about your professional
journey and any highlights you wish to share. I am a tech entrepreneur, founder of myngle.com, but the passion for entrepreneurship came later on in my career. When I graduated from University was an era when entrepreneurship was not very common for academics. I, therefore, built first a successful career by large multinationals, Procter & Gamble, Philips, Sara Lee, The Boston Consulting Group, and eBay; living and working in different countries, and got an MBA from INSEAD. It was when working as a consultant on a project on internet strategy that I first saw the potential of the internet to disrupt entire industries and change forever the way we buy/sell/interact. I had to be a part of that! That was the driver to start an innovative company as mYngle, as I knew I could make a real difference, putting in practice all I had learned in my career till then. mYngle has won numerous awards as recognition for its contribution to online education: Accenture Innovation Award, European Ventures Summit Award, Benelux Venture Summit Award, and more later on. I also received numerous awards as founder and CEO of mYngle, such as 50 Most Inspiring Women Tech Leaders in Europe, 50 Most Inspiring Women in the Dutch Technology Sector, Iconic Women Creating a Better World for All, and many others. The best recognitions, however, are always those that come from customers. Our customers are extremely satisfied. Our average
lessons’ scores are 4.9/5.0. And our first corporate client is still with us, 10 years later. Results speak for themselves! How are the work culture and team of mYngle? In mYngle we stimulate a culture of experimentation and allowing mistakes. Innovation cannot exist in a culture of fear of consequences. We try to develop people that think and not only do “jobs”. We look in our staff for entrepreneurs, people who do not keep the status quo but push themselves beyond their comfort zone. If you try ten new things, some will fail, some will be OK, and one will make a difference. We are looking for that “special one”. What got amplified now with COVID’s lockdowns, is that employee’s well-being is even more vital, and encouraging and supporting employees through this time is almost more important than productivity. It’s about support, empowerment, empathy to keep a sense of belonging, let our people know that we are in this together. That means having a steady stream of communication, from the managers and between team members, to keep people updated on what’s going on and drive more virtual connectivity and culture. Your take on the competition in the market and how it affects you or the company? Even before COVID, the (language) training market was already in the transition from offline to online, the shift accelerating in the past years. This age of quarantines, social
distancing, and remote working fast-tracked the trend, and online education has become in many cases the only possible way of learning. In response to this increase in demand for online training, many traditional offline players have been rushing to find a quick-fix, moving their existing solutions online. Good remote training, however, is not just a matter of adding a tech solution for the virtual classroom and moving a teacher from a physical classroom to a computer, but it requires a whole new set of expertise and capabilities different from those of offline education. The way the training is delivered, the teaching, content, interaction, etc., all need to change to provide a good user experience. I strongly believe that the key to success is not constantly comparing with competition, but aligning with what customers want. Constant focus on customers and their needs are one of our pillars and key strengths. This is particularly important when you are in an industry that, like that of online education, is in a transition or evolution phase, where the main challenge is not a competition but the unawareness or inexperience of customers. Education was (and in large part still is) operating in the old traditional way, offering learners what is available, not what they need. But “One size does not fit all.” By understanding the customer and diversifying our offer in terms of teacher- contentfrequency, we can match each specific need.

“As you think, so shall you become.” – Bruce Lee | Be Mentally Strong
42 | April 2021
What are the characteristics of a
Mentally Strong Person?
M
entality plays a lot of strong roles in one's life as without it one cannot properly live life let alone wander into complex and intricate fields of life. Mentality not only affects the way one perceives things and of course the way one decides on important life decisions and other things. A strong mentality is not only a characteristic of a strong human being but also the characteristic of a successful and smart one. Like all other things in life in a strong mentality can also be created and carved, all it takes is some perseverance and the will to do so, and the next thing you know is that you are looking at a completely different version of yourself, who does not back down from any challenge or any situation life throws at you. A strong mentality is not something needed for survival but it is the basic requirement especially for those looking forward to entering the world of business, as rest assured this world is unforgiving and will always test the limits of how much an individual can sustain and tolerate. Thus, if you’re looking for something to work or learn, why not do something about yourself and start working for a bold and strong mentality. Strong Mentality or Morality. There are a lot of things to check to evaluate oneself and know whether you have a strong mentality or not
but these points are not only for assessment purposes but also give a brief idea on what to work upon to get a mentality like no other. The first step to know about having a strong mentality is whether you possess the psyche of keeping emotions and logic in balance as one often tends to get swayed in the directions of personal interests rather than carefully calibrating them within the boundaries of logic and emotions. The next thing to know is that a mentally strong person knows the importance of their time and does not waste it as they know how precious it is and are always looking for things that are productive and will add value to either their career or to their overall development. Another key factor of a mentally strong person is that they always believe in their self, their decisions and are ready to adapt to any changes in conditions and situations, they carefully evaluate all the variables and do not shy off from getting out of their comfort zones and adapting to changes. A mentally strong person is not wandering off from things that unsettle or scare them but they always welcome their fears and are looking for things to dominate and fears to win over. In this process, one is bound to make a lot of mistakes, and a person with a strong mentality is always willing to accept theirs and plan the next move to not repeat them and learn
the best they could from them. We all have our dreams and aspirations, and sometimes it becomes a burden to bridge the gap between who we want to be and who we are but a strong mentality knows the difference between the two and tries to keep a balance between them, so it does not become a burden but a hope, a goal, to look forward to and achieve. A mentally strong person is not jealous of other's success and achievements but they take a part in their celebrations as one can learn a lot of things from others, saving a lot of time from hit and trial methods, and also a mentally strong person does not believe in showing off but accumulating as many skills in life as they can, ensuring they live a true and authentic life. It’s all in the head. A strong mentality plays a vital role in life, no matter personal or professional, it all comes down to what one wants in life and what one desires or hopes for. A mentally strong person is not born but it is something that is built with sacrifices and discipline. If you want to be one with such a mentality, the way has never been clearer and if one chooses to live their life the way it is, its never too late to give a thought about this and learn, as learning is what keeps life going, even stagnant water turns to poison, so why deprive the brain of the stimulation it so much deserves. www.theenterpriseworld.com | 43
