USTREAM TV OFFICE

The concept for this proposal derived from an interpretation of the company’s vision. Ustream is a place where people express knowledge or thoughts and promote new inovation. Their actions impact society and move it into the next step.

When visitors enter the office , they will be greeted by the receptionist. Behind the receptionist is a lenticular wall panel which shows the concept of the design and the company’s logo. The front of the reception desk is made out of a lenticular len to create the dynamic affect for visitors.

5

6

The workstations in this proposal can be divided into 2 types, on the left side is the location for the CEO and other executives as well as finance department which has a translucent screen separates them from the rest of the workstations to create more privacy from the rest of the employees due to the sensitive subjects of their work. On the right hand side is the location for other employees. The original brick wall on the left is painted with light blue to brighten the space. The gradient of the wall on the right creates an dynamic feeling that wraps around the space. In The middle is the location of two meeting rooms.

Meeting rooms are named after countries and decorated accordingly as requested by the client. The names of the rooms are created with lenticular panels which allow employees to experience the visual movement of the panels. The pattern on the panels is a map of the city which each room represents. The map was created by cities.human.co by mapping transportation movement throughout each city including walking, biking and cars.

Inspired by the ideal target group of Old Navy (a married woman with at least one child), the concept of this pop-up store is “carnival. Carnival is a place where family and friends can have quality time together, which will enhance the relationship between friends and family. The main priority for this pop-up store is to conceptually stimulate the energetic and colorful atmosphere from regular carnival, along with creating activities that shoppers can engage, and at the same time showcase the concept of Old Navy and their products. As customers walk into the store, the design and four activities, not including regular shopping, will leave the customers a unique and memorable experience after they leave the store.

HOSPITALITY DESIGN COSTANOAN BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Costanoan referres to the Ohlone tribe, who occupied the Oakland area before the Spanish arrived. The concept of this hotel is inspired by their colors and patterns of the tools and clothes that they used in their daily life and passed on to the present. These pattern are integrated with modern elements, making this hotel unique with patterns that are hidden throughout the hotel. As a result, the hotel promotes the charactor and history of Oakland to the residents and tourists.

Architectural Elements The architectural element of this hotel is inspired by the notion of Spanish exploration where they start their voyage and travel with curiosity to the new land, which led to the discovery of the Oakland area.

“CREATIVITY REQUIRES THE COURAGE TO LET GO OF CERTAINTIES.”

- ERICH FROMM

144

ABOUT ME ! My name is Theerapa Mekathikom. I was born in Bangkok, Thailand. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Architectural design and a Master of Fine Art in Interior Design and Architecture. My design path started when I was in high school, since then my perception of design and architecture has changed. Human interaction in the space is something that I always consider in my design; how users interact visually and physically with the space in the human scale, and how the building affects the community and surrounding site. I love to travel and explore different cultures. I am eager to learn new things and always open-minded to other new possibility. I believe good design will not only serves the users with appropriate functions and beauty, but also leaves an impression embedded in their memories forever.
